- Comment on Missed call 2 weeks ago:
Ironically that was the cause of the first worst scam calls. The govt had a do not call list that you could put your number on which then became THE phone book for scam calls instead of stopping them. If you’ve ever signed up for anything or paid for anything online and had to give your phone number, it went into a list that was sold on. With auto dialers, they just go through every permeation of possible numbers. I don’t get many calls on my cell because I keep that number private and use my already compromised land line for everything.
- Comment on Missed call 2 weeks ago:
I don’t answer anything that isn’t identified and that I recognize. If they leave a message I will check it. It’s a pain that so many in the medical and service industries use unidentified numbers forcing telephone tag and they don’t use email or text only phone calls.

I don’t think his home was invaded and he was raped when he was 30, like she was for “being a successful, beautiful woman”. Nor did he have the drug and alcohol addiction problems as a coping mechanism from that incident. Add in he doesn’t have a genetic condition that impairs his health. All in all, I think she is doing fantastic for all that life has thrown at her. All we see of him is Scientology propaganda photos.
- Comment on Your Truck is Stupid Big 3 weeks ago:
I don’t think that will work. The comparison has been made but doesn’t seem to phase people. I think IED might be only the solution, since the people who drive these don’t seem to care in the least that they are a lethal danger to everyone in a smaller vehicle/on a bike/pedestrian.
- Comment on The bosses are never going to just hand workers a 32 hour workweek. 3 weeks ago:
The bosses are much more likely to shorten the work week while shortening pay even more and then using the “not full time” to reduce any benefits. Be wary.
- Comment on What would the next pres of USA have to do to gain back trust for America? Hold a televised event saying the last person was just a fuck up? 5 weeks ago:
That is something Americans don’t really understand. Trump has pushed the envelope but he isn’t as much of an outlier as many Americans would like to believe. His incompetence and arrogance make it easy to see how awful he is but his agenda is the regular American agenda with some more guardrails removed. They don’t seem to notice that their Senate, Congress and Supreme Court have mainly supported him with exceedingly little pushback.
- Comment on Why is society at large okay with euthanasia for pets but not for humans? 5 weeks ago:
Easy. Religious people who think humans are superior to any other life. This leads to killing animals for both merciful and vicious reasons. It also leads to keeping people alive by any Frankensteinian method possible while denying any death because “going to God” without enough suffering first isn’t religious enough. Although big corporations also get the right to kill people (gun manufacturers, oil & gas industry, Sackler family, etc.) so long as they profit enough off the deaths.
- Comment on How do I drink more water? 5 weeks ago:
Herbal tea, hot or cold. Add flavour to your water - crush a couple frozen berries in the glass, add mint, add citrus slices. Try different temperatures: iced, room temp, just boiled. Drinking from a glass or cup instead of a bottle can help.
- Comment on I guess I'll shit on the floor. 1 month ago:
It is so funny that the prudishness of Americans is what leads to signs like this. It cannot say only flush feces, urine and tp or even use common names like poop or pee because ‘people’ would be offended. Nor can they say do not flush tampons or other menstruation products, because we cannot talk about such things in public. So we end up with signs that are ripe for literal, and childish, interpretations.
- Comment on North America contains some of the longest continuous decididous forest records on the planet. 1 month ago:
So far none of the Trump administration’s restructuring has been benign. If an incompetent lackey is put in place, and one will be, they have all proven to destroy the previous work.

Not that many of them die in Western countries although they may have shorter overall lifespans. Doesn’t help that they add generations in 15-22 years instead of 25-40.

Well if we were really aiming for equality, we’d only need to do 50% of those.
- Comment on Game over 2 months ago:
I had a relative once say that she’s vegetarian, won’t eat animals. I point out the chicken she’s eating and has always eaten, and she says “It’s from the grocery store, not an animal”. We had to have a long chat. People too divorced from real food and its sources, have some weird assumptions.

And the ones who were too young or missed out on Iraq will soon get a chance to do the same in Iran.
- Comment on Beyond fucked up 3 months ago:
It wasn’t just America. There was code used with women, girls about whose knee to avoid sitting on etc. Some people realized it was wrong but for the most part, society’s way of dealing was to ignore and pretend it wasn’t happening. And if a girl got pregnant - it was all her fault. The difference was the greater reach of TV, cable, magazines than previous decades which started to undo the secrecy. As much a people hate on Boomers, they were the ones who started saying enough already, there needs to be laws against this if people can’t figure out on their own that it is wrong.
- Comment on Anyone old enough to have used this before GPS? 3 months ago:
I’m thinking about going back to a paper map. Has anyone else had a problem with Google Maps suddenly making insane routing decisions? There are a couple routes I travel often and I check before I leave, mainly for traffic conditions, but have found in the last couple months that Google suggests a completely insane route instead when there isn’t anything to detour around or avoid. It’s almost like routing is now an AI hallucination.

A good bun. A tasty onion. Flavourful cheese. What’s not to like? If it was an American factory bread-like bun with American Cheese, the onion might still make it edible.

Canada’s land area didn’t change. It’s still second only to Russia, I believe. It simply doesn’t show as 4x the size of some other countries in this map version.
- Comment on [deleted] 6 months ago:
As we have learned, many Americans really do think this way. It isn’t even a joke anymore. Americans will vote massively against their own interests so long as they think it might hurt people they dislike.

- Comment on Poor salmon 7 months ago:
Or could it be that the place and time when salmon are easily seen by people is spawning season and at least some of the species turn a bright “salmon pink/red” colour at that time? They are dying then as well, but naturally, so it is still and end of life colour for them.
- Comment on Dangerous crow 7 months ago:
For 2 weeks and then they are too long but it isn’t time to get the rest of your hair trimmed. So for the next 4-10 weeks they are just a mess. I love short hair but then I need it cut every 4 to 6 weeks so I usually end up growing it out so it only needs to be cut every 6 months. Sometimes I really understand Dolly and her wigs and wish I could wear one without sweating like crazy. Don’t even get me started on the wavy/curly that becomes a frizz bomb as soon as there is a hint of rain but cannot use any product on it without looking like Snape’s sister.
- Comment on When a person gains weight and keeps the weight on for a long time, is that old fat in your body, or does the fat get replaced over time? 7 months ago:
I don’t know much about liposuction but I believe it can only be done on subcutaneous fat (just under the skin) but not the deeper intra-abdominal fat that can be the cause of fat related health problems. If you can ‘pinch’ most of your fat then it is probably subcutaneous and lipo would help to remove the excess cells.
- Comment on Are Street Racers "bad people"? 7 months ago:
Yes the are bad people. Why? Because they only care about their thrill over everything else. They cost everyone money when they inevitably have accidents. Even if they had to pay the cost of repairs for their car, they don’t pay all the other costs - police, emergency, road closure, road damage, etc. They willingly put others, innocent others, at life threatening risk. They never, ever drive as well and as in control as they think they do. Racing is fine but do it on a track that is meant for it. Then if you crash and maim or kill yourself, anyone else involved willingly agreed to be part of it.
- Comment on Cause and Effect 7 months ago:
I don’t know how that would work. Everyone that I know who is anti-vax thinks all the rest of your list is elitist crap as well.
