I know this is a joke, but, no it is your job as a driver to know how fast you are going. It is one of the basic rules of having the privilege to drive. Of course the fact that so many drivers seem to think this is some kind of infringement is why there are so many fatal accidents. Which wouldn’t be so bad if they only maimed and killed the speeders & drunks.

Economically, Americans are already serfs. Wealth inequality was slightly better for serfs than current Americans.

First, there is corporate gouging. Anyone owning stocks wants to see a return, not a moderate one but a big one, on their investment. Second, it isn’t a straight one to one employee to patient ratio. 24 hour care is 8760 hours per year and full time work is 2000 (with 2 weeks paid vacation) meaning 4.38 employee years for 24hrs, 365 days. It isn’t quite that much because staffing is never 1:1. If it were 1:1, at $20 per hour paid to the caregiver, with vacation, sick days, health care, CPP, EI, WCB, it is a minimum of $58,000 per employee. That alone would work out to $4800 per month without housing, food, cleaning, equipment. It isn’t cheap to house people who cannot live independently. We need a different model for care to keep the costs lower while providing care that is necessary. This used to all be “free” in-home by older women (Boomer, Silent Gen, Greatest Gen) and still often is, if they cannot access care for family members. Much like child care, that again women used to do for 'free", it costs real money to have someone else cover that work.

See your doctor. This is not normal aging. Getting a Hypothyroid diagnosis can take years if you are one of the people for whom the blood test is garbage. Insist that your doctor get the full T4, T3 testing done. Sleep apnea is also one that can be hard to diagnose but leave you feeling fatigued.
You don’t have a husband or live in partner that might be drugging you? In this day and age, it isn’t as far fetched an idea as it once was. - Comment on modern classic 2 weeks ago:
Change out the carpet, fine, but why that God awful laminate?Update the cushions, great. Paint the beams and fireplace, short term thinking to destroy something that will now forever need work and updating. I hope you drywalled over the wall panels and didn’t just slap paint on them. It is a current “look”. Will be out of date/trend in a couple years - far shorter than the other look that took 30 years to be dated and now would be retro.

Enough to take the edge off, not so often it interfers with your life. The number will be different for every person and different at every stage of life for a person.

I don’t know that it would help. The longer Americans keep Trump in power, the more their former allies realize that it isn’t “just Trump”.

- Comment on How not to advertise 101! 1 month ago:
I cannot tell you anything about any ads I have seen in the last few years online. If they pop up and I can’t shut them off, the single thing I am paying attention to is when the skip now button shows up. I literally cannot tell you anything about any of the ads, neither company nor product. Back in the day, you’d run to the other room and do things while the ads came on in TV shows but you were still hooked in because of the jingles. To this day I can remember many of the jingles from the 70s. New online ads, absolutely no idea.
However in the car I listen to radio and have recently started listening to a new station. I am starting to recognize some of the higher rotation ads. The ones I like, I might eventually try the business if it offers a product I need, but the much longer list is the one of companies that I will never do business with since their ads annoy me so much. Name recognition isn’t great if all it promotes is loathing. - Comment on is it spelled "grey" or "gray"? 2 months ago:

- Comment on Missed call 3 months ago:
Ironically that was the cause of the first worst scam calls. The govt had a do not call list that you could put your number on which then became THE phone book for scam calls instead of stopping them. If you’ve ever signed up for anything or paid for anything online and had to give your phone number, it went into a list that was sold on. With auto dialers, they just go through every permeation of possible numbers. I don’t get many calls on my cell because I keep that number private and use my already compromised land line for everything.
- Comment on Missed call 3 months ago:
I don’t answer anything that isn’t identified and that I recognize. If they leave a message I will check it. It’s a pain that so many in the medical and service industries use unidentified numbers forcing telephone tag and they don’t use email or text only phone calls.

I don’t think his home was invaded and he was raped when he was 30, like she was for “being a successful, beautiful woman”. Nor did he have the drug and alcohol addiction problems as a coping mechanism from that incident. Add in he doesn’t have a genetic condition that impairs his health. All in all, I think she is doing fantastic for all that life has thrown at her. All we see of him is Scientology propaganda photos.
- Comment on Your Truck is Stupid Big 3 months ago:
I don’t think that will work. The comparison has been made but doesn’t seem to phase people. I think IED might be only the solution, since the people who drive these don’t seem to care in the least that they are a lethal danger to everyone in a smaller vehicle/on a bike/pedestrian.
- Comment on The bosses are never going to just hand workers a 32 hour workweek. 3 months ago:
The bosses are much more likely to shorten the work week while shortening pay even more and then using the “not full time” to reduce any benefits. Be wary.
- Comment on What would the next pres of USA have to do to gain back trust for America? Hold a televised event saying the last person was just a fuck up? 3 months ago:
That is something Americans don’t really understand. Trump has pushed the envelope but he isn’t as much of an outlier as many Americans would like to believe. His incompetence and arrogance make it easy to see how awful he is but his agenda is the regular American agenda with some more guardrails removed. They don’t seem to notice that their Senate, Congress and Supreme Court have mainly supported him with exceedingly little pushback.
- Comment on Why is society at large okay with euthanasia for pets but not for humans? 3 months ago:
Easy. Religious people who think humans are superior to any other life. This leads to killing animals for both merciful and vicious reasons. It also leads to keeping people alive by any Frankensteinian method possible while denying any death because “going to God” without enough suffering first isn’t religious enough. Although big corporations also get the right to kill people (gun manufacturers, oil & gas industry, Sackler family, etc.) so long as they profit enough off the deaths.
- Comment on How do I drink more water? 3 months ago:
Herbal tea, hot or cold. Add flavour to your water - crush a couple frozen berries in the glass, add mint, add citrus slices. Try different temperatures: iced, room temp, just boiled. Drinking from a glass or cup instead of a bottle can help.
- Comment on I guess I'll shit on the floor. 4 months ago:
It is so funny that the prudishness of Americans is what leads to signs like this. It cannot say only flush feces, urine and tp or even use common names like poop or pee because ‘people’ would be offended. Nor can they say do not flush tampons or other menstruation products, because we cannot talk about such things in public. So we end up with signs that are ripe for literal, and childish, interpretations.
