  Reminds me of the time my wife asked me “why a computer monitor would cost so much (£500)”. This was straight after she had shown me a picture of a handbag she liked that cost £6000.

      I love fashion and I think high end clothes are priced way more appropriately than anyone here probably wants to admit, and I have huge respect for the artistry and craft that goes into it. But a handbag is definitely not a much more complex piece of engineering…at best they could be relatively similar for certain bags. The price difference is because a lot of bags need more manual involvement by decently paid workers rather than factory slaves. And because the artists doing the designing also get a solid salaryas that is the primary aspect of the product. Whereas monitor designs are comparatively not so demanding to dream up and not as important.

    Not just that, I went into a North Face store and their shit was insane. It was like $450 for a bitch basic puffer jacket. I don’t mind paying more if it makes sense, I have a few watches over $1,000 and half a dozen Tom Bihn bags that are like $300-$400 each but they’re actually amazing quality because they’re hand made in America. North Face is Chinese mass produced trash.

      Down can be pricey but not that much :( they used to have a reputation for durability, I’m not sure how their stuff is now. Doubt it’s worth what they’re asking no matter how generously you try to frame it.
