Random RAM!
Holy crap this thread just made me check what the cost is for the RAM in my machine. Bought it for $220 2x32GB. That same pair is now over $1250
Damn. I have 64gb of ram in my pc…. You mean I can retire!!!
Yo alerted the hoard! RUNNN!
I have 4 sticks of ddr5 16gb, I’m seeing the exact model selling on Amazon with a delivery window of tomorrow for a total of $800. I paid $200 a year ago. It’s a good ROI but Im not seeing anything near the $3-5 grand shown.
The entire reason I posted it. I messaged the seller about the price to see what they’ll say.
It’s a good ROI
You’re part of the problem.
Thinking buying PC memory “as an investment” so you can upsell it or just the thought process of “my RAM is appreciating in value”, is just so stupid to me…
But we’ve all been indoctrinated into this capitalist slop to varying degrees.
He said it is a good roi, not that he bought it originally thinking of it as an investment
Uh no, I bought it for a new build but it didn’t work with my mobo and the return window closed before I could build the machine and find that out. I’ve had it for 1.5 years.
The server racks must be looking so pretty with all those rgb components.
Whoa … I should sell my main homelab …
Just wait for OpenSlop to go bancrupt by it’s ridiculously exessive shopping spree.
All the stacked memory returns to market and manufacturers revert to normal routine and prices because of diminished pull.
Hell, maybe even Samsung sells it’s old production lines, which are now in storage, to budget manufacturers as it normally does.
wait we’re rgbing the rams now? where am i
Have you been in a coma for the past 10 years?
i just don’t really care about rgbs on my thingies. someone bought me a razer mouse and keyboard (because i like games, and they have macros) and it took me a year to set them up because i liked the ones i had.
still prefer my old keyboard tho. it had a nice curve in the middle.
I hope my single stick of slow 16 GB DDR4 lasts me a long time
Where can I sell mine ?
I’m very tempted to sell my memory and go back to a DDR3 machine until things normalize again.

That’s way more expensive than the entirety of my gaming rig I built last year.

My 5 year old computer needs to chug along for another 5 years before I can contemplate an upgrade with the market as messed up as it is.
Damn clankers taking our RAM.

That’s almost TWICE what I paid for a fucking RTX4090 last year.

That’s more expensive than the culmination of parts I’ve acquired over the years that has resulted in my current PC - and I’ve spent a good amount of money on it.

Omg… I hate this timeline.

Yes. Not only they take things important to you.
But then they stick that into useless ai producer you cannot opt out. Why be capitalist again?

Anyone paying this much for 64 GB of RAM has more severe problems than the hardware crisis…
Asafum@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Jesus Christ that’s pretty much what I bought last year for like $200 or something…
