I get you. The people just aren’t ready to hear this. We’re way over our carrying capacity. If you refute this, child, open your eyes. Reality is more than numbers.

Disgusting highways and car exhaust fumes, gross no matter where you’re from 🤢
ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world 1 month ago
But think of the children! How will the poor children get their healthy dose of microplastics into their lungs, if not through breathing in particles from tyre wear?

Ok, fuck car infrastructure, but why are the images in the panels switched? Some Asian joke?
The giant intersection is obv China (looked it up - Guiyang) and the not-that-planned-out is India (Mira-Bhayandar).

The current Indian Prime Minister bootlickers bring up some GDP growth rate numbers and compare them with Pakistan and Bangladesh thus giving a false sense of superiority that India is developing rapidly—I mean yes but only compared to those countries. So the people who still have their brain cells started this meme trend.

Ohh, interesting, thx for the context!!
sukhmel@programming.dev 1 month ago
Yeah, it’s probably ‘meta-joke’ or something. It’s shitpost, after all
Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 1 month ago
Yes, it seemed obvious, but I didn’t know why.

In a way you have to appreciate the craftsmanship and ingenuity that goes into a project like that. But the result and the consequences are really a weird thing to be proud off
Rhaedas@fedia.io 1 month ago
The engineering is incredible. Imagine if it had been applied to a better purpose.
Themosthighstrange@lemmy.world 1 month ago
engineering incredible until it has a slight earthquake, and realize government officials embezzled the money meant for safe infrastructure
FatVegan@leminal.space 1 month ago
That’s what fucks me up. Imagine what could’ve been. Same with that stupid line they build in the sand that’s gonna be a data center now apparently.

Unapologetically I love that top image.
You know what I’m gonna do?
I’m gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible
Hot pink with whale skin hubcaps
And all leather cow interior
And big brown baby seal eyes for head lights (Yeah)
And I’m gonna drive in that baby at 115 miles per hour
Gettin’ one mile per gallon
Sucking down Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonald’s
In the old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers
And when I’m done sucking down those greaseball burgers
I’m gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag
And then I’m gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the side
And there ain’t a goddamn thing anybody can do about it
You know why? Because we’ve got the bomb, that’s why
Two words: nuclear fucking weapons, okay?moonshadow@slrpnk.net 1 month ago
If there’s a source for this I need it, if not… damn that’s good posting

China, and India both have nuclear weapons.

The second image is from Mumbai so nice trolling.

Fuck this, I’d rather see less of this and more pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.
GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 1 month ago
personally I would rather turn a hour long commute across state lines into a four hour long walk.
think of how thick my calves would be!
Themosthighstrange@lemmy.world 1 month ago
trains, busses, and bikes exist
python@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Average walking speed is 4km/h. So in four hours, you’d go 16km. If it takes you an hour to go 16km by car, then you’d literally be faster on a bike, because you can go past traffic without stopping

This reminds me of Cities: Skylines. Top picture is when you create spaghetti. Bottom picture is how I started my first map. I had no idea what I was doing and connected a big road directly to the highway at the starting point.

Bike paths please.

Both look the same to me tbh

they both look terrible to me

india also has pollution so thick you are instantly covered in poisonous dust.
Avicenna@programming.dev 1 month ago
I mean maybe that is some engineering and planning marvel but not the kind that is good for your sanity on the long run. Just saves the day.
Soulg@ani.social 1 month ago
Id rather have the cars drive above and have nature in the ground, but I also kinda enjoy being under overpasses so I know I’m weird

Just because they built one tunnel, doesn’t make Düsseldorf a pedestrian or cycling friendly city. The opposite is very much true.

Yes, all good here.
