What a gorgeous floof! But yes, poor little one would be hot.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I’ve changed their water a couple of times. And will do so again a bit later.
Hopefully that helps.

Birdbath getting a lot of use.
Pidgeons, wattles, ibis even a willy wagtail all co-existing.
No water wars. Just thirsty and everyone getting along.
We could learn something from them.
Will try and get a piccy later.

I hope we’re all the civilised in say, 10ish years lol
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I just received a notice of rent increase for next year, it is only about 1% increase. I’m very happy with that. Plus a new lease, so I can lock in my Autumn garden plans.

Ted’s sleeping now, I got so many mats and knots out 😬 poor guy

Mr Year 7s school books sorted. He’s so excited about the colourful folders!
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I remember being the exact same way in Year 7! Every year, I was so excited about getting the books and choosing the colours for each subject. I hope maths is blue and English is red.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 2 days ago
What’s the colour correlation for subjects? Maths was always red for me.
Eagle@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Purple for Science (favourite colour and subject) Orange - Health and PE Red - Humanities Blue - Maths Green - English Black - Music It was a toss up between music and Science for the purple folder, but in the end Science didn’t deserve black. 12yo logic.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
sending lots of love and good wishes for the start of the school year

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Beach and groceries done and back home. About to pop the grapes in the freezer pop on the AC then I am going back to bed. Had sick tum all week so bailing on the morning
_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I’m planning on hiding out in the basement garage tidying up and will consider working on some craft/ Reno projects. When it gets too hot, I’ll retreat to the air con to read or watch telly.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Nah dang it I think I’ll have to go out and grab some small shopping pouts. It’s Tuesday I’m not looking forward to 😳
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I don’t have any icy poles so no :(
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 days ago
You need to jump on your girly bike and go and get some. Pronto.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago

then it’s home for an inside day
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I didn’t see this one coming. At least it’s not 4 days in a row right?
Oh. Tuesday will be 43
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 days ago
It’s gonna be warm the entire week so far.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Nope. Heading up to Albury today so hoping the drive goes smoothly
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago

melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Calcium tablet. So far these latest ones seem ok 🤞Light exercise. I’m not supposed to go too hard but a 1kg weight and a little body weight exercise should be fine.

I’m looking at buying an apartment for my own living needs. It’s my first time doing this. What sort of things should I be looking for during inspections and what questions should I ask?
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Read the section 32 and body corp minutes to see if there’s major works that’ve been delayed. Could easily be some massive major issue that’s been kicked down the road for the next person to deal with. Once enough original tenants have left suddenly everyone needs to find $30k to chip in to fix the problem.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Don’t buy anything brand new. Use the net to get every prior listing available, photo angles, different paint colours etc. do the same with every adjoining unit you can find. Floor plan! Check it. Asbestos, insulation, heritage fixtures. Flood & fire council maps. Read the last sets of board minutes you do not want Hyacinth Bucket running your life. Are there any pending Special assessments? Think about weather at the opposite end of the year to when you view it. Light angles. Smoking & pet rules.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Mould, damp, or roof leaks! And crazy neighbours
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Is the aircon new, carpet or floorboards (go floorboards), is there an owners corp, do the fire escapes experience faeces and/or urine on a regular basis
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I wouldn’t buy an apartment in a new building. The prices are so inflated and construction iffy.
Quokka@quokk.au 2 days ago
Google Maps shows the building I’m eyeing having existed since 2014. I can see scaffolding on the 2022 photos, seems to have had some exterior work done to the whole complex.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
No idea what this will become, but it looks fun
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago

beach
it’s still 37 here but beach was lovely
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 days ago
37 was the high temp here, it’s down to 30 now. Ballarat’s colder weather is an advantage at this time of year! Of course we don’t have the beach to go to either. I do have a lovely cow paddock, but it’s really not the same, is it?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Are there trees in the cow paddock? A nice creek? Rocks? Wild life? I grew up in a similar environment and I love it fiercely. But it’s hot, I get that.
and the temp here is now down to 33
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I am considering an ice cold mineral water or something a little harder rn.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Catching up with a mate later, changing up the strays water.
And melting into the couch like some kind of blob creature.
Good luck out there!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Another thing that happened during the show the other night is I rode to the station to go in, then I saw a nice splatter vinyl of the new album on the merch table. I wanted it but i didn’t have my pannier bags on the bike at the station.
I eventually figured out I could use the shirt I got as a tote bag. Stick the vinyl in and tie up the bottom so I could put my arm through the sleeves to ride.
whilst this was a great bit of ingenuity, the real lesson is to always have a pannier bag on your bike, even when you think you don’t need them

Kitchen tribulations: Miniest wants to learn to cook things, which I am totally ok with, but the problem is getting a stove lighter they can operate. They’re all childproof! Tough for me to operate let alone an almost 12yo.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Would it help for her to light the end of a strand of spaghetti and use that to safely light the burner from a distance? It’s a shame there isn’t that ignition button some stoves have.
Worst case scenario an electric frying pan or a usb hot plate could be some good options
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 days ago
IKEA has a portable induction plate about the size of a chopping board. But the 80s square electric frypan ic a ‘cultural’ icon
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 days ago
An electric frypan eh? 🤔 That’d be handy when she makes pancakes. It’s a good idea and I’ll look into it, bench and cupboard space be damned! She likes to cook noodles and pasta and she’s getting the hang of a Bolognese. The stove lighter we’ve got is a trigger one but it’s got a button thingy you have to push at the same time. Pushing both buttons to operate the lighter whilst being mindful to turn on the gas jet at the right time is a feat of coordination she’s still getting used to.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Too much screen time gives me headaches and I can’t concentrate on a book. Nooo. Doing spider climb finger exercises on my stupid ukulele with my stupid hands to pass the time. I wish I’d known you could get tiny silent practice guitars.
It doesn’t matter though because I have no plan to pursue either. I don’t want any kind of pressure or to put in the effort to practice.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Then don’t do those spider exercises. They are the band of my existence. I find putting the pressure on myself to practise just makes me less excited to, and I don’t end up practising. Whereas if I find a song I’m interested in, it seems more exciting.
If none of these things interest you in the slightest, then maybe try something different. Although unless you’ve got anhedonia going on, maybe it could be a good experiment to try doing some practise and seeing how you feel before and after.
Also going to browse through YouTube and see if there’s some kind of play along technical exercises thing for guitar. Playing with someone else might be helpful.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 days ago
I’m getting a little better at them, they’re not bad. It’s just hard with weak and overly bendy hands.
The YouTube video I found is very good, nice and simple.
Unfortunately I think it might be big time anhedonia going on though
I suck at consistent practice of anything, I always have so I don’t expect to get anywhere
