Donât judge my dinner lol. It was a long day and I wanted something quick and easy. Defrosted the chops, got them ready to coat, and, whatâs this? No bag? Surely this must be a manufacturing anomaly.
Nope. I go back into the pantry and grab the newer box, open it, andâŚalso no bag.
Had to waste one of the good Ziploc gallon size bags for this.
How many fractions of a penny did they save by not including the shake bags? Ugh!
Cheapflation them back and learn that you donât need these stupid products. Theyâre not âconvenientâ theyâre just a way to charge you 10x for the constituent ingredients.
Iâm with this guy. Just buy some seasoning salt or whatever and apply it with some oil. At this point the only advantage theyâre giving you is that theyâre pre measured portions.
The ingredients of this are going to be white flour, salt, thyme, paprika.
And probably a bunch of other useless shit you donât want or need to eat.
Shake 'n Bake doesnât come with bags, either.

I noticed recently that Hot Pockets at some point in the last ~ 8 years removed the crisping sleeve for cooking them in the microwave (I hadnât bought them in a long time). They claim that it was done to reduce packaging waste. In reality, they just made the product shittier to save a few cents per unit. Now you have to cook it in the oven for 30 minutes to have it be crispy, or have a rubbery hot pocket if you use the microwave. It was the first time I bought them in ~ 8 years, and I wonât be buying them again.
Air fryer seems like it would be good here
Hilariously there was minor backlash about this, they sent out silicone hot pocket holders as a gesture of goodwill if you requested it.
Imma hit em up so Iâm prepared in 8 years for my next pocket.
Havenât had those in forever but you could probably pop them in the air fryer or even the toaster oven for half that time.
The last time I recall eating a Hot Pocket was in like 2014 during a week-long power outage. Was using a propane heater to not freeze to death and put the hot pockets over top of that on a wire rack. They came out surprisingly good đ
I think they added an air fryer cook method to the instructions as well. I didnât want to deal with getting the air fryer out for a freaking hot pocket of all things.
Name brand did that shit too so at least Kroger kept it going for a while.

Isnât it illegal to provide plastic bags in a bunch of states now? I wonder if this is a snowball affect of that.

Those bags contain goods, itâs being an empty plastic bag. The laws are pretty broad, and you wouldnât want to create an issue, so just go nuclear.

Iâve been re-using ziploc bags for years. Just wash them.
I use a food storeage container incase of chicken bones piercing the bag.
Thats a really good idea, easy to clean and easy to seal so nothing falls out. Thank you
borosilicate containers, pyrex is inferior to borosilicate, many brands have it besides the og PYREX,.

Same! I also reuse bread bags and the like. Plastic grocery bags work for most things.

Interesting, I donât think I knew these ever had bags, we have always just mixed cheap canned breadcrumbs with seasoning powder
Besides being annoying, it seems too easy to absorb moisture and be a pain in the ass to try and work with it , not being sealed in a bag.
The actual seasoning crumbs are still sealed in a bag (for now? lol). It just doesnât come with the âshakeâ bags you pour that into in order to coat the food.
Dude, just use a bowl. Like, I get it, fuck corporations and all that. But this seems a little petty to get upset over when my groceries are $150 a week and beef is $10 a pound.
Iâm guessing those seasoning crumbs are a pretty standard mixture, one that is easily googled, and can be bought for pennies compared to that bag. Some olive oil, that seasoning, and a bug bowl and you could have weeks of it ready to go

Companies are good at doing things to benefit the environment when it also benefits their bottom line.

Happens all the time. Tipping is the best example. You feel bad for the driver or server so you tip a little more. Companies see this and make it easier for you to tip, saying they really value their workers and want to let you tell them. Meanwhile they do nothing for actual pay, screwing you and the employees at the same time.
