I’m pretty proud of our local train youtubers here in Melbourne. I was able to find a bunch of original content on the train derailment at Clifton Hill. I found videos on the derailment, freight trains coming to take the train apart, and the derailed carriage being lifted off the track by a crane.
And we don’t even have the most comprehensive public transport network. I wonder what the train youtubers in other cities are like?
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
We went for a train ride down to Reservoir and saw one of the yellow SSR freight trains from the video.
It kind of feels like meeting a local celebrity
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I guess I should be sleeping 😆I drifted off earlier but I’m just lazing around now enjoying the quiet. We’ll, except for the sound of thunderstorms or blizzards or whatever Elder Minipeeler has going on in there that he’s sleeping to.

I have gathered 900g of the aero g MIST OF DESPAIR and now we wait patiently in the shadows. Was gonna grab the last can too but felt bad.
Also some prawn gyoza for dins which has been a while.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Commander airoguard over here haha
Good luck sir, teach those damn plants a lesson 🍀
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
lol. Walking back home with all that walked past a bunch of the stuff on someone’s nature strip and it took every fibre of my being to restrain myself.
No, this is my death mist
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Off to buy a shitload of aerogard from the chemist lol. CW seems reasonable price-wise.
Was reassuring to find this today. Seems like they do the multi DOOOM approach too, so I’m not going completely mad. Their language does appear a bit defeatist though heh. No mention of weed burners :( .
Checkout person will think I have a massive unhealthy phobia of insects.

There’s this absolute waste of an ejaculation that keeps pulling up to the stopped light near my place and revving his fartmobilw. One day i’m gonna greet him with a cinderblock

Puppy dog eyes won out and we went for a walk. It was as cold and windy as expected, but fortunately we managed to avoid being rained on. Miss Meow now has me pinned down on the couch to make sure I don’t try to leave again.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Chill day today. Haircut, wander around for a while and grab a fitness tracker maybe grab a pair of hightops or a pair of dickies.
Then it’s guitar and singing all day.
Perfect Saturday.
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Currently in the middle of a power outage. I didn’t manage to get the heaters on for long enough to warm up the place.
Hoping the sun can warm the place up a little.
Lucky I charged all my stuff for last week but not knowing this was going to happen has screwed me up.
Oh well washing for tomorrow instead.
Now to get make some food. Thank god I still have a gas stove.
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Can you go and hang out somewhere warm for a bit? A shopping centre or library or somewhere?
Or else you could build a blanket fort.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
What use is Al if cats still arent bringing me a morning coffee?
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
They have natural intelligence, not the artificial variety. I mean, why bring coffee when you can get people to bring you food instead …
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Since I bought my ipad pro I’ve been leaning towards going back to iOS for a phone
Fuck they’re ridiculously expensive. I would be buying outright this time and yeah, hoky fuck I’m not paying almost 2k for a phone.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Phone prices have been getting ridiculous in the last couple of years. I’m almost swinging the other way and I think I’ll get a mid-tier Chinese phone next
DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone 1 year ago
You can usually pick up last year’s model for a major discount and it’s often not much different to the current model.
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I bought my iPhone outright but I wait for a deal (ozbargain is a great resource) and I have my phone for 3 - 4 years before I upgrade. I use it all the time. It’s worth the splurge for Apple for me. But I agree with pricing, everytime I upgrade the outright price has gone up a fair bit.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’ve had my Samsung almost 4 years so I hear you about keeping a phone for a while.
IPhones seem to hold their value a hell of a lot more than Samsung’s do.
I’ll check out ozbargain, thanks for the heads up :)
Taleya@aussie.zone 1 year ago
yeah I just wait until my sister upgrades her phone plan and gives me her old one XD.
Last phone I bought was literally a nokia 3310. It’s a phone. I don’t care. I get everyone’s hand me downs.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Woke up because wonky sleep 🥱Warm shower time
StudChud@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Hello I also am on wonky sleep time 😅
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Bit disappointed I had a lazy day but also realising that I have years of sleep and oxygen deprivation to make up for. Trying not to beat myself up for not realising and getting treated earlier. I did buy food and get the washing done and got through a chunk of my book and a few eps of the Bear (shhh I have managed to stay spoiler free for S4) Tomorrow a beach walk if it’s not as windy, bit of work admin to get ready for the week and some cooking.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 year ago
That is an awesome day. Glad the CPAP is doing you good.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
good night, sleep well 😘

Saw these at GardenWorld. My aunt and I got my mum one for her birthday, and we are going to write death cap on it. Image

Have fun!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I have a to do list, ticked off some, have lots more to do.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
bloody hell, it’s so windy I will do the garden tomorrow
bacon@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I have shopped while hungry two days in a row
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Oh chef, that’s not good. Please look after yourself.
bacon@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I will try not to overeat. The fridge is beyond full.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Sleep has been acquired and My Hello Fresh box is inside. Mr Woof thinks that means it’s walk time, but the weather is miserable out there. Cold, windy and likely rain coming. I am not feeling enthused.
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I’ve caught some virus, feeling crappy this morning. Couldn’t sleep more than a couple hours in a row last night. Had a birthday party to go to tonight which I was looking forward to, think I’ll have to cancel 😞 If there’s a bright side to being sick on the weekend, I’ve got a lot of TV to catch up on so going to do some binge watching.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Washing is out. Wind is busy. Just waiting on the sunshine to happen.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
so windy here 😬
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Awoke with a start at 4:30am, still awake. Boyo also woke up, so now we’ve resigned ourselves to staying awake and are going for breakky burritos.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Oh show me the way to go home, I’m tired and I want to go to bed…
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 year ago
I had a little drink about an hour ago…

woooo tanks mounted and tested and despite rolling around the back yard empty for two friggin’ years no splits! now I have somewhere to stuff the water from the 300l down the side while I completely redo its overflow system
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Had the definition of a green day today.
Biggest accomplishment was a 15 minute swim at the gym, followed by an hour of steam/sauna/hot tub
Korean BBQ for dinner.
Japanese whiskey as a night cap.
Hope all your weekends are good and mentally rewarding.

Good morning chef! Can I have a selection of onigiri and a hot dog with ketchup please.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Grocery run, chores and other productive things all done by 11am. Definitely need a nap before dinner out tonight! This wind is putting me on edge though.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Let the joy be unbridled! My neighbour’s windchimes have FINALLY broken through their string and have fallen! And said neighbours are away for the next week so I’ll have at least a week of blessed silence. Happy happy happy!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Was it a cheap set or anything particularly wrong with them?
As a wind chime owner myself I want to make sure I’m not annoying my own neighbours
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Not a particularly cheap set - thin brass bells with a particularly penetrating chime which is just slightly, ever so slightly, off key. Goes through 2 layers of brick wall, double glazing and some serious intervening vegetation with perfect ease and clarity. If you suffered from tinnitus, they would be an instrument of torture. Possibly justifying a violent home invasion. I have contemplated this solution but lack the guts (but not the equipment).
tone212_@aussie.zone 1 year ago
This triggers a past experience I had with neighbours and wind chimes. Who in their right mind puts up a chime in a densely populated area? Let’s just say I took care of of the issue ✂️
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 year ago
While they are away you should take the opportunity to sneak in and fill the pipes with spray foam to permanently silence them.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Maybe a bit obvious. Might just remove the whole thing and give it to the nearest op shop tomorrow. “It blew away overnight, sir, nothing to do with me at all sir”.
TheFrirish@jlai.lu 1 year ago
Imagine hating on one of the most soothings sounds a person can experience.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 year ago
Not if you have perfect pitch and very sensitive hearing. See comment below. Windchimes imo are one of the more selfish pleasures. If you like them, that’s fine - you do you. But please do not share them 24/7/365 with your neighbours who might not be so appreciative of unending aural invasion. At the very least, hang them up when you are going to listen to them, and take them down when you are not.
Nobody sensible minds them occasionally, earmuffs are a thing, its just the 24/7/365 bit that really gets my goat.
