A pillow between the knees is a gift for side sleepers regardless of age!

I sleep hugging a pillow. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m more comfortable that way or it’s because I just need to hug something.

Fuck off right now. I just got to this stage in life. Ugh. They are so comfortable though…

I fell asleep on the floor yesterday while petting the cat. Slept for about three hours and woke up unscathed. It was surprisingly relaxing to tell the thruth. I think I’m not made for soft bedding.

It really varies by person. I sleep best on a foam matress on a futon on the floor. When I go to a hotel with the ultra-soft bedding it just seems weird.

When I was six I fell asleep with my head on a pile of Hotwheels.
Now I have to spend ten minutes beating an expensive pillow into just the right shape.

I have a giant Chillet plush that I sleep with. It’s basically a body pillow. It serves this function admirably, and goddamn is it cute.
TeamAssimilation@infosec.pub 3 weeks ago
I thought chillet was a style of pillow, saw many google images with Pokémon, tried to refine my search… I ended with an image search page full of sexy and furry body pillows… Pokémon was a crucial part of that search.

I fell down in the shop yesterday and landed on top of some large tools. There was a bunch of blood and I’m all bruised up.
I’ll be fine but sleeping last night felt like torture I couldn’t get comfortable at all and ended up sleeping against the wall.
So I can really relate to this haha

I tend to sleep on my right side and now my hip perma-aches on the contact point to the bed. Gotta concsiously switch sides, like damn.

I like to believe that I won’t go through this when I reach that age
CuddlyCassowary@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
FWIW - I’m in my mid-50s and still feel basically the same as I did in my late 20s / early-30s. All of these aging memes strike me as odd and/or maybe people who haven’t been kind to their bodies. I sleep like a rock on a normal bed, with one pillow, and wake up rested with no pain and get out of bed and do normal stuff just fine. Weird, huh?

I think I’m being good to my body. Hopefully I turn out like you haha

One day you are young and the next day you have a bag with bags.
One day you are young and the next day you are like wait a second I moped last Sunday!!

Actually, a single water pillow has been more life changing any anything else I’ve tried.

Most body pain is a symptom of weak muscles, especially back pain. Lift weights and you’ll have even more pain temporarily and then no pain at all.
Sergio@slrpnk.net 3 weeks ago
Plus, you’ll sleep better from your body being truly tired.
Plebcouncilman@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
This too, I have a shit time falling asleep when I take a week off the gym.
iAvicenna@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
possibly weak muscles + sitting all day in weird positions

If you’re talking about the recovery that I’m thinking about, that is of physical exertion, there is a lot you can do to slow the rate of decline actually.
Maalus@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
This is my theory about 30yo’s having all sorts of pain issues. In school, you used to go to PE like 4 - 6 times a week. Now you do nothing, or go for a 20 min bike ride on Saturday. What did you expect will happen.
Plebcouncilman@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
It is not a coincidence that you start losing muscle at 30 and that’s were most people start to complain about body aches.
This study also gives credence to it and there’s many more that also confirm it:

Another aspect is inflammation and I hate to bring it up because it’s such a nebulous concept peddled by online granola mom anti vax types that don’t have a single clue about nutrition. But it is a fact that the shitty diets prevalent in our society cause inflammation in the body, which also contributes to skeletomuscular pain. The worst thing is that people consider it normal when it really isn’t. You’re supposed to be pretty spry up until your 60s or 70s.
