    www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04-11/…/105159430

I WAS 9 for 9, excited, hopeful. Question 10 though… No idea. Guessed wrong. Hopes dashed.
    9/10

7/10 - OK with a couple of guesses (both wrong)

I got 5. Have not been absorbing details of news except niche areas of my interest for a while now. Charles and Camilla married for 20 years? Shows what I know 😂

I got that one right, but also WHAT. HOW?

7/10 - apparently I’m paying more attention than I thought since I’ve had a bit of free time this week.

6/10 haha I have not been paying attention lol

8/10 not bloody bad at all

    • CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Exactly the same as you. Question 10 also stumped me.

    • anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

10/10! I have never got a full score in one of these before! Must have been paying better-than-usual attention to the news lately

Given my previous performance in these quizes I’m going to guess I’ll get 3/10. I will report back on the actual outcome shortly.

      • RustyRaven@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Gosh, actually got 8/10. That was unexpected.

Went outside and saw my mum and aunt drinking coffee, whilst other aunt had a beer.

    Cheers 🍻

I kind of neglected my garden while feeling so sick for this past week.

    Garden rambles

Yesterday I went out and watered because everything was wilting and noticed the powdery mildew was really on the jack be little pumpkin leaves. Today I went out and they’re full of aphids I don’t have the energy to wipe off. I’m still feeling pretty sick. They look healthy still but I’m learning a lot for next go round. (With how much I need next time I should choose concentrates and combine the organic pesticide and fungicide into the same solution for efficiency.) There’s a fruit shriveling because I didn’t pollinate it and a recently closed female flower I could still probably get pollen into, but I’m wondering if I should let the plants concentrate on maturing the fruits that are already set and growing. The weather is still warm but I don’t know what to expect.

With help I managed to sort out a dental appointment for May but that’s still a month away so I cadged another week of antibiotics from the gp to try and hold me. Worried about the wait tbh.

I feel like the health care system is broken and becoming increasingly privatised. I’m having to increasingly decide whether I have the money to try and pursue private care because public procedures have such a long waitlist.

Gah. Forgot about a bill that needed to be paid until I saw the email receipt of payment 😢

Petrol looks like it’s going up around the place today. My two local Ampols were 2.04 and 1.66.

    • just_kitten@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Yep, I heard your warning a couple days ago and filled up yesterday at 1.69 (1.65 was too far away). Passed by plenty of places over 2.00. Thanks for the reminder, I was down to 20% and have a couple more longer than usual drives to do and suspect prices will not go down much till after Anzac Day.

It was going up yesterday too, I reckon they’ll all have shot up by the holidays and stay up for them.

I’m getting 164.9 on my 7/11 app as best local price, so good idea to lock in a price.

      source
      • Duenan@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Just be mindful that the max discount you can get is 25c a litre.

Stopped using 7/11 even since they made that change.

    • TinyBreak@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

holy shit! better go fill up, cheers!

      source
    • Duenan@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Yeah. I’m hoping that the stations near me hold steady until Tuesday or Wednesday so I can fill up.

      • just_kitten@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

I feel like they might not hold out that long. The weekend of good weather is nigh! Maybe if you’re lucky they’ll only go up to 1.80

Melbcat is sleeping warm under the doona. I hope she lets me in!

I’ve seen electric blankets that are washable and am wondering if it’s worth buying one of those.

I’ll need to crack open a can of Citray when I get home today. I received an email from La Sirene they’ve stocked up on the Praline as well. We’ll probably be in Reservoir for a car show so I might get some

  • melbaboutown@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

I forgot to mention that you now can’t even read only let alone print a document without a Microsoft Word subscription. I switched to Libre Office

    source
    • tombruzzo@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

Introducing copilot into 365 and upping the price by $100 was one of the best things to ever happen to Libreoffice. I’ve been meaning to do a presentation on Libreoffice for the old people I help so they can save money

      • LowExperience2368@aussie.zone ⁨2⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

How did you get involved with helping the old people use technology? I help them at work all the time so they can print stuff but it would be cool to do so in a volunteer capacity.
