Those two tone beans 😄
StudChud@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
I call them neopolitan ice cream beans; white for vanilla, pink for strawberry, black for chocolate. He’s just scrumptious. I know I shouldn’t kiss his beans but I doooooooo idc 😂😂

Er no. Mine have plenty of proper scratchies but the couch isn’t safe.

I did a great job of making sure the bin was full and ready for collection, then fogot to actually take it to the curb. Now I have a bin full of such delights as chicken bones, cat litter and dog poo bags ready to marinade in the scorching heat of the weekend. 😭
On a positive note I have layer 1 of my lime and strawberry jelly jars poured and setting in the fridge.
Baku@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
The pest control man parked in front of my bin the other day. I had to run outside and move it down the street before they missed me
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
When the man goes out to scoop the dog shit up for fun he’ll take the kitchen rubbish out with him first to put them in. Sometimes he forgets so he’ll put the scooper in the red bin. Unsuspecting me comes out, flings open the lid and cops a whiff. Kill a black dog on a rusty chain that.

Have made it to Tokyo!! A visit to Donki and I’ve made my first Mofusand purchase of the trip and set up an in room snack bar because we are wrecked. Overnight flight with lie flat seats, but less than 3 hours sleep.
If I buy energy jelly, does that count as me joining this cool crowd?

I have some pics from Castlemaine. Not touristy pics, just stuff I found interesting. 🙂
a gun captured from the Germans in wwi. There are so many war trophies and memorials from wwi it makes me think the war greatly effected this town far from Europe.

cute aussie planter at the entrance to the art gallery

awesome painting by Drysdale

my fave entrant in the Fox art competition. By Joel Arthur. Trees on a lake? I just love the colours and perspective.

A weird church. This town was full of distinctive architecture

old wwi ambulance parked on the main street

in case anyone needs to send a telegraph

a very weird flower in the botanical gardens . agave gigantea

the old train station . We heard kookaburras here. 🙂

If you compare the surnames on the war memorial of nearly every country town with the surnames on the land ownership records of the time, the lists are nearly identical. Yes, country towns contributed far more than their share of young men to WW1. There’s a reason so many have an Avenue of Honor of oak trees or similar. Even though a lot of these are damaged by time they still survive.
My grandfather was on the commission that set up the war memorials for Vic & NSW country towns and the papers in his estate are grim reading. So many young men that never came back. Including his 4 older brothers. He was the only boy in his family of 9 sibs that came back. My grandmother - of her 5 brothers only 2 came back, one so badly disabled that he could not work. Which in those days was saying something.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
so sad 😔
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Very cool. I love how well preserved the telegraph station is, also kinda cute how it’s tucked in there
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
telegrams were still a thing until 1993.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
I forgot to add I watched the vline bendigo train go by on a level crossing, I waved and the driver tooted. Trains are cool. 🚄🙋♀️🎺

The man’s cleaning the garage out. The dog’s at the door whining so I let him out to investigate then he stands in the middle getting in the way. I let him back in and he’s back to whining again. I’ll chuck the man a coffee here and there because I’m supportive.

Ahhh i love the sound of junkies screaming all day. Probation ends on the 23rd of Jan. I’ll be gone within 2 weeks of that date.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
it’s been bad around here 😖
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
I messaged the landlord and let him know. I don’t have a lease and am paying month to month so at least i won’t have to pay anything to leave.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
It’s so bad. Once a guy was screaming day and night so you couldn’t get a rest

I’ll be honest, given the choice between watching more wiggles, or going outside to sit in the sun and bake to a slow death…… I’d take outside.
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Take your phone or tablet and watch cricket!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
And we’ve got 2 BBLs tonight too. Yeehaa.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Maybe you should try sending the wiggles outside to bake to a slow death while you stay inside?
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
The Wiggles slowly melting outside, singing in a distorted nightmarish drone as they lose function

Screw you and the popularity of your local community, I don’t need reminders that you’re in summer while we haven’t seen the sun in over a month 🥶🌧️☁️
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
We have a bit too much sun this week, can we send you some?
Baku@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
40°C tomorrow 😛
Obi@sopuli.xyz 5 weeks ago
To be fair when it’s 40 you’ll find me in the shade ideally with a nice breeze or otherwise a fan, but still right now that sounds amazing… Pulls up blanket
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Take some of this overnight heat away with you while you’re at it.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Cheap telescope was predictably disappointing. My dad’s old binoculars did a much better job, we could clearly see the dark side of the moon and the edges of craters! This old nerd was very excited 😊
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Gonna play gin rummy with the man. Place your bets.

The battle wagon is in good hands now. Should only take a week to repair. It’s getting more difficult to find parts for my car these days but the sensors shouldn’t be a problem. I’m now in a Kia hatchback something.
You know those dreams in which you try to run, but it’s like the floor is thick goo? That’s what driving this Kia is like.

I somehow managed to go to yoga with my leggings back to front and didn’t notice until I got home. Whoops.
Now that I’m home I’m going to copy you lot and jump on the jelly train. I haven’t made jelly in yonks. And then kick back with cricket all arvo.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Let’s goooo!!! 🏏💖
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Got woken up by the junkies having a door slamming competition.
I’m so over this shit. 2k a month to deal with this is an absolute joke.
Baku@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
I’m still feeling strangely unhappy, and the headache is still aching. Hopefully a sleep fixes them both unions last night
I made some jelly, been a long time since I had just jelly! It’s grape flavoured. I’ve got some strawberries 🤤 it’ll be good
With the holidays still being in full force, I’m feeling kind of unfulfilled. Maybe I should go find a new hobby or project to waste time on
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
Jeez temporary fillings are fragile. I was doing so well, eating jelly and vanilla pudding, not in much pain at all. Then last night I was dissolving a peppermint in my mouth… Forgot for a second and chewed it. /facepalm
Thankfully they got me in today and fixed it. They’re gems.
I’m now trying to train myself to eat anything on the other side only and bought some soft fondant bananas 🧽🍌

Perfect day for the beach.
Unicorn bell on the bike will get some action today on the foreshore. People who dawdle in the middle of the path need to know the wrath of the rainbow unicorn bell. I usually ride at about walking pace on that path (kids everywhere seen too many close calls) so it’s extra funny when people freak out moving to the left. But the huge uptick in elec. scooters this year is a risk. I’m in favour of them in general, but they don’t have the same stopping power / maneuverability as a bike if little johnny decides to randomly get in the way. Saw a collision yesterday and there was no way the scooter rider was not going to stack / hit kiddo. I don’t think there’s a solution (except for slowing down), just an observation.

Watching that Peter Jackson doco about the Beatles.
They are so young!!! I suppose in my mind greatness means a bit more age and experience.
Confirmed all my beliefs about the band. Such hard workers and talented too. Shows how much of an uphill battle waged by Paul it was to get things done tho.
I like how it shows how performing and recording is a huge team effort with engineers and producers, etc
ono really was a fifth wheel. Everyone was so polite to her but she really was in the way. How could she and John be so clueless .
But mainly it’s a window into the 60s, when people made documentaries as a form of social protest or art. The filming was the art.

I’m part of a couple of “No Buy” groups and it never fails to amaze me how many people find it a challenge to not go shopping or buy anything for even a single day.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 weeks ago
It might have been good to grow more crops that don’t require cooking. Standard size tomatoes and cucumbers, carrots, that kind of thing. I wonder if it’s too late for sowing cucumbers.
I wish I had more space to garden… I was thinking of trying to improve the dry sandy neglected spot for actual growing when the disposable non-native annuals die.
As for prep I know sunflowers leach heavy metals out of soil, might break it up with deep tap roots, and beans enrich the soil with the nitrogen fixing bacteria in nodules on their roots. There are green manure crops you plow back in. Compost bins can be made cheaply (though I’d have to buy a drill.)
But it’s got a hard sandy layer I might not be able too break through to dig it over. And even with wetting agents, organic matter, nitrogenous crops etc it’s still quite publicly accessible ie vulnerable to vandalism and choked with greedy invasive tree roots.
Plus going out there to tend it puts me in proximity to crazies.
I just want to be allowed to mind my own fucking business and do my constructive hobby man… 😒
