Important announcement: Brunswick Kippers and Sardines are HALF PRICE at Coles. Not a drill, not a joke. @Duenan @witchofthornbury @useless_modern_god
Thanking you.đ
Yippee! Time to stock up. Specially the kippers.
Canât believe I only bought 9 kippers tins. Shameful
Iâll keep an eye out when I can get near a Coles.
Thanks!
Best name ever.
Ying Tong Iddle I Po Thread?
what what what what
Thatâs ringing some bells.
Possibly from my primary school headmaster who also sang Nicky Nacky Noo (before the Wiggles were formed)
I like the thread name. It can be personalised with emojis , which is exactly what me and baku have been doing
đ
Upon reflection, chit-chat is maybe not my preferred option. Especially when âchatâ is a euphemism for a flea. As in riding âflat chatâ, which means galloping fast while holding your body so close to your horseâs neck that the fleas get squashed between. And chat potatoes, which refers to spuds so small as to resemble fleas. Chit-chat means small talk. Very small talk. Not my preference. The DT does more than that.
Maybe âDaily Ramblingsâ???
Or just leave it as Daily Discussion Thread - which is accurate and not demeaning. And weâre all accustomed to it.
I think that may be a perfect loaf in the 2nd pic!
I need a Gibson
I regret to inform you that I died of hot while gardening today.
I am attempting a resurrection ritual involving cold grapes and air conditioning.
Was up very late/early this morn. About 5am a brand new white van screamed down the street, stopped in front of the neighbours place (they have 2 very nice cars), dude jumps out with a torch takes a quick squizz at their front gate / door, jumps back in van and hoons away.
Their place (or cars) is totally getting cased. Absolutely targeted.
Thatâs why Iâd never buy really expensive cars.
This is the neighbour who has buggered my shed wall and currently in dispute.
Should probably tell 'em theyâre potentially about to get done and do the neighbourly thing. Might make them reconsider their position on the wall heh. Thinking about it.
HrmmâŠ
Back when I was a wee adult (19-20yo) I worked at a pop-up stall at Knox City. It was a stall that sold glass Christmas baubles, and my job was to ring up customers, but also write their requested names on the baubles with glue and glitter.
The week before Xmas, Iâd get to Knox City when it opened, and stay until just before they closed, I think it was like 14 hour days or something. There was always two of us, one ringing up and the other painting. I was always the painter lol
I barely slept, had approx 3x 500ml Vs and lunch was Hungry Jacks from the food court.
I never want to work retail xmas again and while it was over 10 years ago for me, I have always felt such empathy for retail workers since. Itâs fucking brutal and the general public are MEAN
Feels.
Back in high school I did an Xmas job gift-wrapping at Myers. I never want to work retail xmas again and while it was long time ago for me, I have always felt such empathy for retail workers since. Itâs fucking brutal and the general public are MEAN.
Hmm. The sleeping pattern at the moment is âfucktangularâ.
Ded.
Also dreamt I had bilateral knee replacements.
That was bizarre.
I had a surgery dream. Was odd.
I had a dream where I was digging up trees last night.
Make sure you do your dream rehab exercises - very important for functional movement
Haha, in my dream I was back at work within a couple of weeks with my bandages still intact. đ
Peaceful night at home tonight.
Had a really, really good music session last night Iâm hoping to repeat. The type where you donât record anything because youâre playing just for yourself.
Will practice a few of the new songs so I can play another show before Xmas.
Got a band audition tomorrow which is exciting. A friend from tassie is in town so weâll catch up tomorrow.
Social calendar is starting to get busy which is nice :)
Oh and I bought this because fuck it why not Image
Just home from shopping and I am always in amazement how people can wear all black and make it their own.
I wore faded black jeans and a black cheesecloth top
I saw black shorts and linen top
linen pants and singlet
cargo pants and big tshirt
pencil skirt and short top
goth pants and top
loose short dress
yoga pants and top
long frilly skirt and blouse
etc etc
Chit-Chat thread is a terrible name.
Chit-chat paddy whack
Give a better name
This olâ thread need not be lame
Itâs The DT. That is the name.
Chit-Chat thread is OK đ
I opened up a fixed term deposit account today. My options were fairly limited because of my age and the balance I had on hand, but I looked around, and am pretty sure I found the best interest rate I could, at least for now. At this scale, any extra interest I could get elsewhere if I were over 18 works out to be like 2 bucks anyways lol. Mostly in it for a safe place to keep my money away from my stupid reckless impulsivity anyways đ
Look at the young gent, being all responsible!
This is so good!
The way I save is by having an auto deposit into a separate âhigh interestâ account every time I get paid, as modest amounts stack up and not seeing that money means it isnât missed.
I have a bit of a cheeky saving strategy - I pay 25% into tax, but donât actually have enough money to need to pay tax. Itâs kinda like an interest free, automatic, recurring, term deposit
I was actually meant to open a fixed term at tax return time, but thatâs when all the bads were happening, so I was kinda stressed (and a bit depressed), and through a series of very poor financial decisions, wasted the majority of it. Itâs all worked out in the end, though. I timed it so the TD will end around tax return time, so I can lump that in with it and reinvest
MANGOES đ„đ„đ„
A day with a mango in it is a good day đ
is there anyone in the world who doesnât like mangoes?
If anyone is looking for a decent train simulator, I highly recommend Derail Valley. IMO itâs so much better than TSW/the rest of the Dovetail Games BS they put out. Itâs not based on or specifically modelling any particular route or even country. But itâs by a small indie team in Serbia whoâve done a remarkable job, unlike DTG who are basically EA if EA only made train sims (buggy, poorly optimised garbage, with every single thing being locked behind expensive DLC, not even taking into account the games are like 80 bucks)
/rant
Itâs an amazing game though. Apparently it is loosely based on Yugoslavian/Balkan railways in the 80s/90s, but takes design elements from everywhere. Itâs also a lot more featured than TS/TSW. You can buy trinkets to modify your train (which requires you to drill/solder things), or you can take it stock. You also get to buy licenses for different types of cargo. And Iâve just discovered it has radios/boomboxes. You can buy cassettes from little shops around the map, or just listen to the radio (which i donât believe is themed, because it was playing me Avicii music. But also Tina Turner and Nelly Furtado)
Oh, also, you can blow things up
The little train is kinda cute, and Iâm sure my parents had that cassette player đ
Sheâs only a lil shunter. Just meant for moving stuff from one track to another
Managed to climb up a hill with like 8 fully loaded petrol tankers. She didnât do too well, couldnât get past 20km/h and started overeating. But we made it there in the end
After taking the 40k from the company whose tankers I dropped off, we rammed into them at 75km/h repeatedly until they blew up đ
I think my favourite thing about city life is the relative lack of flies. Everytime I go to the country, I am reminded how everywhere you go thereâs always like 10 thousand fucking flies everywhere and Iâm like âhow did I deal with that for a decadeâ
Iâve been successfully procrastinating by doing a further review of my income & life insurance. I think Iâve got a mix of three different policies that will cover my future needs pretty well. There is a bit of an overlap in the middle where Iâm probably a touch over insured, so just putting it out there for the universe that if you plan to strike me down with a permanent work-ending disability at some point, four or five years from now would be the best time to schedule that.
Universe speaking here⊠ZAP! KAPOW! now whereâs my cut?
Hey, too soon! Please do not subject me to premature incapacitation đ€Ł
Ok, apparently the flowers kind of have to be stimulated in ways that make them think bees are visiting to encourage pollen production. So from time to time I might gently tap the stems to shake them a little. You can also put a male flower in the fridge for a day or a few days to hold it until a female one opens.
Iâm going to be trying to hit and run this bare patch of earth guerilla gardening style to avoid any hassles. (The dirt is mine to plant but people here are cray so I avoid being out there much.) But thereâs another snag⊠thereâs a seriously inappropriately placed invasive tree that releases irritants and as a bonus the roots of that have grown through into my area. So not only does it cause other issues it will obstruct and take all the water and nutrients from anything I plant on my own spot.
And as a bonus, existing flowering native plants were torn out to plant that and other bad crap.
Hence why Iâm trying to plant pollinator crack which still isnât as good as what was ruined
God this neighbour is a cunt
I thought the C word was gonna be âChit-Chatâ. You can imagine my relief.
makes the next thread that but with an S
Make sure you say âbuzz buzz buzzâ and do a little bee dance while youâre pollinating, that should do it.
waggles butt to show bees the way
Good morning. Have a quiz
5/10 - appalling.
Could be worse⊠3/10.
Same
Donât know how I managed 8/10 but Iâll take it!
Change is scary, but so are ghosts.
Ghost are scary because they represent change đ€Żđ€Żđ€Ż
And the bed broke. This week can get in the bin.
People who equate having money to the divine right of kings tend to forget about cromwell.
This has preeeeetty much been running in a loop in my head for the past three days.
Cat is sitting and watching out of the back-door. House is hot and humid.
Do I close the back-door and turn on the air con, or keep it open and deal with the sweating?
Headache, weekend, nooooo
Been sleeping on and off all day and night. Warm weather, humid weather, I just want to sleep lol
But then I wake up at 4am sigh.
I put some xmas lights up outsideđ tomorrow Iâll get the decorations out and make it nice for the Seagoons
The YouTube algorithm has started serving me really short clips of people farting at inappropriate moments, like in court, and 1) this is highly irrelevant to me personally and 2) this is definitely a fetish thing isnât it
Travis head on 99!
I just took Mr Woof out for a walk in the rain. Now itâs cleared away and the sun is out, my timing is definitely not good today.
Todays to do list:

I can do 40+ degree heat without âbreaking a sweatâ so to speak, but this is fucking awful.

I just walked out to the bin and almost died.
My mulch delivery is on itâs way, just carting a few of those bales to the back yard it likely to kill me.
