What whiskey?
I shall judge the niceness.
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Hobart Whiskey: Tasmanian Whiskey Liqueur, and Tawny Cask Finish. Also have some of their signature but havenât cracked that yet
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Saturday afternoon is the perfect time for âdoing sweet fuck allâ. This is my recharge time from the work week.
Sunday is for chores etc.
But Saturday afternoon is blissful nothingness.
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
My chores are done for today. Finally getting some food then Iâm doing SFA till my Geelong Cats play this late afternoon.
Almost feels like I didnât get much done in the end and itâs Already so late.
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Was gonna go to CERES community garden today, but the weather is dodgy so no guarantee the market will be on.
My oodie has been donned, and escape room game has been loaded đđ
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ooh what game?
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
The House of Da Vinci on the play store. Itâs an interactive puzzle, really pretty! And puzzling! I have discovered I may think too laterally, or not laterally enough đ
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Waaaaakkkkeeee Uuuuuup Everybody! Timeâs a-wasting. Lots to do today. Big shop for bulk household stuff, market for fresh stuff (Preston), laundry, garden & a lunch appointment that Iâm not altogether thrilled about. This afternoon Iâll probably dissolve into a puddle and rest.
oztrin@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
After yesterdayâs drama Iâm just going to putter and chill.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
cracks an eye I just did stuff yesterday
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I have lots to do as well⊠Lots of NOTHING!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Here here
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Have you tidied your room?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Have been learning about cars the last few weeks as Iâm about to buy something cheap.
Looks like the old reliable corolla is going to be the pick.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Corolla 4 life.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Canât go wrong. I reckon the Hyundai i30 is a solid bet tooâŠIf I bother getting a car again a good ole corolla is high on the list.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Will suss it out, cheers!
I mean, the car I really want I might be able to buy down the track. But for now, itâs getting from a to b
just_kitten@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ugh, I hate that feeling when your ears donât pop after a flight⊠but Iâm glad I got some shut eye even though the person next to me had no concept of personal space. I generally avoid night flights for this reason even though flying during the day âwastes timeâ. Good night đŽ
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Gah. Lost the prelims :(
Going to bury my sorrow in something now.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Commiserations đ·
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
It was a valiant effort at least. Great game
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Thereâs only 3 things in this world I donât eat. Cantaloupe, rice pudding and porridge. Now I can add papaya to that list. Ick.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Sardines, anchovies and sardines.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Bullshit. Everybody loves sardines.
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Eggplants are my worst enemy. Makes me throw up.
Olives are next and then hmm anchovies?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You can definitely get bad eggplants.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Crunchy peanut butter and tripe. Oysters. Not too keen on mussels anymore either. Sushi is fine but I donât really like the soft squish
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I loooovvvve oysters. Straight up. Down the hatch. No lemon. No pepper and salt.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâll take your hand and join youâŠ
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
None of them register in my brain as food.
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Fair. Cucumber, olives, and coffee for me. Not that coffeeâs a food, but people sneak it in.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I eat/drink these things everyday. Thanks for your courage though.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Balsamic vinegar, pickled herring and giardiniera
Papaya is great, but can be off putting.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Mussels in vinegar are weird. Iâll still eat them but they are chewy little fuckers.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
endive, ersatz chocolate, tripe
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve never had tripe because my mother refused to cook it after growing up with it.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Cantaloupe, rice pudding and bread n butter custard đ đŒââïžâ
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Bread n butter pudding is alright. Just make that shit fancy.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Son has recovered from COVID, only for the wife to be struck down.
No idea how Iâm still avoiding it. Superior genes perhaps?
Or more likely my flu+covid shot I got earlier this year.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Some people apparently are just resistant to it. I still havenât had it, and havenât had a covid vax for a couple of years now. Itâs been floating around at work on a semi-regular basis so Iâm pretty sure I would have been exposed quite a few times.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
We are strong. Everyone else, very weak.
We shall rule this realm and dance on a mountain of bones!!!
Alamutjones@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Big News. An arrest has been made over the Easey St murders.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
What a grub. I was aware of the murders but the details got worse as I read on.
I hope he either gets extradited or some more decent men than him have some strong opinions on what he didâŠ
StudChud@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Fantastic news! So long and they finally caught that fuckup
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I first saw it on r/melbourne and now I think itâs been taken down. The mods are fuckwits over there.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I got an art book with recipes for mixing colours. You have no idea what a help that is, and something that I havenât seen before.
Itâs so fucked you canât share and archive resources. If it wasnât a crime I would be a volunteer archivist scanning or photographing books and uploading them. Just so things donât disappear when they go out of print and physical copies dwindle.
Iâve also missed out on getting Morpho books because I didnât want to click a random link on social media to download them and now theyâll be gone off the Internet Archive.
Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Open Library has scans of older books online.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Thanks, Iâll check it out
Catfish@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
HathibTrust also
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Hey I ended up downloading infinity train. I can upload it to my google drive if you want to grab a copy.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ah thanks, I tend to avoid pirating though
Catfish@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
In many cases you actually can scan things, and potentially share them. There are many loopholes in the Aust Copyright Act, and different ones in those of other countries. Your local library will have an ILL service, an academic library (if you have access) ought have an excellent one. There will likely be fees, but absolutely anything not too fragile to handle can be made available.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Sounds like a massive organisational job for someone like me who can barely run their own life. Iâm more thinking about the things I already own.
The art books, a few computer books, craft and sewing books⊠growing up there was a classic recipe book called Australian Cookery and the Vogue Book of sewing but they may be gone now. I had some rare cds but one was lost in a hasty move and another was stolen đ
Iâll have to look at the laws but Iâm so risk averse because I donât have the money for a lawyer and would be hit hard if my internet was cut off.
I wish it was just legally ok to upload things to allow fair access and ensure they werenât lost⊠culture, resources, basic skills.
tone212_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I left the ramen restaurant hungry. Youâd think $25 would get you a decent sized ramen but no. Two tiny pieces of pork belly. And the broth was like chicken soup.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Decided to take my (SILs) bike on the scenic foreshore front beach path back home from the shops. Usually donât do that as people (and kids / dogs) are a bit all over the place. Anyway now I have a bell with a unicorn on it which Iâm required to use by law. it also has a front basket. I didnât use the bell but felt empowered (and got laughed at by two young girls). They didnât have unicorn bells or a front basket so fuck em. Iâm gonna get some tassels next.
In more serious news the Pt. Lonny front beach was absolutely smashed by recent swell / weather. Had a chat to a local who was walking past and sheâd never seen anything like it either. Mustâve been wild.
Also got about 10 hellos from randoms which was nice.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ate some delicious kofta, and cranked up my accompaniment to cleaning.
Once this is done, I have a new model to build, but I canât open Bags And Bags And Bags Of Bits into an already messy apartment
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You know youâre getting on when you plan to jump in the garden to weed for the 3rd day in a row and before you start first thing you think of is whereâs the ibuprofen.
Alamutjones@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Gonâ eat me a chiko roll and watch cartoonsâŠ
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Recently discovered that I have very low iron levels so got put on iron pills. Have been taking them for a week, and just got through a heap of housework today without wanting to collapse from exhaustion. Seems like the pills are working - whoâd have thunk?!
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Ok. Iâm all set for the game!
Come on Catters!
Got my chips, got some wine. Iâm all primed and ready!

There are few things better for the soul then a few hours and a few drinks spent catching up with an old friend that speaks your particular form of neurospicinessâŠ
Now home for two rounds of footy (I am bilingual - AFL and NRL)
Duenan@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
I have decaf coffee now.
Letâs see if this thing keeps me awake at night tonight.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve been putting the registration for GardenSafe off for years even after posting about it⊠tbh Iâm still struggling majorly with my health and this creeping grass is like kudzu, so action isnât guaranteed. But why not contribute to citizen science.
But itâs asking really inflexible questions so I donât know how to answer. Like for main food growing area do I answer in ground or pots? I may answer in ground because I want to know if itâs safe to do so.
Renos within 5 years? No, but around 10.
And Iâm not seeing any peeling external paint - but the builders buried discarded rubble in the soil which is a concern.
I donât use pesticides but I donât know whatâs in the runoff from another yard.
I just want to find out if the soil here is theoretically safe to grow edible stuff in, lead levels and pesticides etc.

Speaking of pop divas, Kylie tix go on pre-sale on Tuesday for the Tension Tour. Thereâs a good chance we will go.
I went to the X tour in 08 and the show was fantastic. She rode a giant crystal skull that night! It was simply awesome!
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Elder Minipeeler decided to spontaneously clean his room today, mainly and noticeably focusing on purging old school stuff. Did a thorough job and Iâm very proud of him.
In the meantime Miniest made a carrot cake, with very little intervention from me (gotta make sure the batter actually ends up in the cake tin and less in the mouth lol)
Image
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
You have an excellent set of Minipeelers there :)
melbaboutown@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Yummy. Cream cheese icing or lemon?
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Cream cheese with a little lemon in it đ
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Tell miniest that looks like an excellent cake :)
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Gorgeous! Ask Miniest to send me some (if thereâs any left).
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš2â© âšmonthsâ© ago
That is a most excellent cake. When is afternoon tea?
