My birth certificate got lost somewhere in the house a year or so ago and after many unsuccessful attempts to find it, Iâd decided today was going to be the day Iâd apply for a new one. Checked the Justice services joint in Broady was open and off I went on the bus and train. Sign on the door apologising for inconvenience but they are no longer processing BD&M requests, scan the QR code for a list of other locations and go there. Ok, so I did and Reservoir was the closest, so off I went on the bus and train. Get to Reservoir and the same sign is on their front door!
Ended up getting photocopied notarised documents and submitted online, which I didnât want to do because I hate sending personal ID documents online, would much rather do in person. I just donât feel safe. The website is an utter shitshow, wouldnât accept my postal address, Iâve seen window cleaning junkies work more effectively.
So I got home and baked brownies with the kids, and they are fudgy and delicious (the brownies not the kids)

The surf is roaring in the distance⌠âbout 1.5km away, honestly one of my favourite sounds. Then every few minutes the neighboursâ cow moos and I lose my shit. I donât know why a random cow mooing at 1am is funny but it is. Dog barking isnât funny, plovers squawking isnât funny⌠but when the cow goes it hits different.

Ive been playing (reading?) this compilation of interactive stories. Not quite a choose your own adventure, but you make choices for the main character (it reminds me of a dungeon master narrating a DnD game and you choose what spells or how to approach a situation). Itâs very compelling, Iâve finished the Wizardâs stories.
However, this shows me that amateur male writers generally do not know, or care to know, how to write a good female character. I loved the cleric woman whom the main character teams with, but no, she would not wait in a room for days/weeks while Iâm cavorting in The Abyss/Hell. She is a cleric who has been in combat and has bashed goblin heads and smote nasty evil. She would not wait in that room on the off chance I would return. Ffs.
It appears most of the seriesâ in this collection are from a male point of view, and while I donât mind the 80s/90s-esque style of writing (calling women pretty things, etc) as it fits the silliness of medieval fantasy heavily inspired by DnD, I do mind when women character are just treated as props.

I have spilt coffee on myself twice today, which is twice too many. First I was walking along a footpath/bikepath and stepped on my partners heel accidentally, and he stopped to fix it and I just walked into the back of him and spilt coffee down my front. Glad I had a raincoat on lol.
Second was just now, and just out of pure unco-ness I just slopped some of my coffee onto my oodie.

You have a fair point. Personally, Iâve pretty much just accepted my details probably already are up for sale somewhere. Everywhere seems to either have data breaches once a week, or basically is a data breach (selling everything they know to the highest bidder). The âdealsâ arenât really anything special for the most part either. Half price/home brand pretty much makes the first list redundant anyway

I keep waking up swinging my arms. it started a week or 2 ago I dreamt the toddler was falling off the bed and woke up basically throwing myself over the mrs to catch him, only it was 3am and he was in his own bed. Happened a few times last night where i woke up jolting my arms out or something. Worried its only a matter of time till I hit the mrs or a cat in my sleep. Not exactly sure what I can do stop it.

Had a dream that UFC was on at the MCG and I had lounge tickets, so I went and took my cat. Just carried him around with me and he was entranced because there was a parade of women wearing huge, sparkly ballgowns. The food in the lounge sucked and tbh it kind of resembled some old rich personâs house with pale pink carpets and curtains. Pretty sure I went ringside and watched a fight, but the cat wasnât enjoyed it, so we went back up to the lounge. Cat and I went home where I found out that Lizzo was going to be playing at the AFL Grand Final alongside Katy Perry.
Better than dreaming about needing to prove myself at work, I guess!

My father kept us imprisoned in the house. He would take me to and from school, and my mother to and from work.
Sometimes I would be allowed to go with him to do the weekly food shopping. That was it. The rest of the time, we were props from him to unleash his insanity onto.
As I grew older, my mother convinced him to let her take me to the doctor with her, by ourselves. She would then tell me to go visit with friends, then we would meet back up and go home together, with him none the wiser.
Sometimes my mother is in my dreams and for a split second when I wake up I have forgotten she has passed away.
What a life it has been.

Both my parents were the prison wardens of my life; without hijacking your post Iâll just say I grew up in a very uncharacteristic way for someone born early 70s. All those memes where they say they rode bikes all day with their friends and had to come home before the street lights came on and mucked about building cubbies etc., I cannot at all relate to. Itâs hard when you can be long out of an abusive situation and it still just randomly pops up for no reason, like youâre out of it but never really free. It took a shamefully long time into my adulthood to realise that I am an adult, and have to employ my own initiative in life. Iâm glad youâre out of that situation, and I hope the random âpop upâ trauma doesnât trouble you too much đđź
