“The Snotting” sounds likes a good title for a Stephen King tv series.

@Seagoon_ @Alamutjones Stephen King or RL Stine?

I know it’s cold because I’m pinned down by my cat.

Might make some pasties today. And find my beanies and thermals.

Saw a car seemingly abandoned on the side of the road the other night.

I looked up options to report it and the police non-urgent crimes line seemed like the best bet. I’d rather not call the police but I figured there was no one for them to harass as it was an abandoned car.

They actually escalated me to 000 and the car was gone today.

The only downside is I reported the car as a hazard on Waze and it looks like I didn’t get any points for it :(

If anyone here is into old school doom style games but wants something a bit more modern, check out Prodeus.

Amazing game! Same frantic pace as old school doom.

Every now and then I return to Doom Eternal, and realise I have no fps skills. It’s so hectic even on lower settings.

Contemplating whether I should contact my gulp real estate agent to ask for the rangehood bulbs to be replace. Or if I should just pay a tradie to do it myself. The latter might be better value as I’m about due for a rent increase…

    • Taleya@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Undo screws holding plastic covers, unscrew lightbulbs, insert new ones from wooloes, screw covers back on

      source
      • Pilk@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

see below, figured it all out :)

    • SituationCake@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Depends what type of globe. Just pop off the plastic cover, take out globe to see see what type of globe it is, buy at Bunnings and put new one in. Same as changing any other globe. If it’s a basic rangehood it will need something like this but of course check before you buy.

I thought I had searched for this particular model and it was strongly indicated they weren’t user replaceable. But I can see now they are just standard GU10 fittings that need a special trick to take out

        source
    • Baku@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

I’d wait until after the increase then make them work for their damn money. *Yeah what a coincidence, the globe blew 15 minutes after you sent the increase through! Wild stuff…

      source
      • Pilk@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Yeah I thought of that but it’s actually a pain in the butt that it doesn’t work.

And just as you sent this reply I figured out how to take the bloody things out, just needed a suction cup thingy for grip.

Ok this is one of those days I never get my clothes right - HALP. What are y’all wearing today?

I have an afternoon indoor shindig. Getting there involves PT and 20 mins walk. Walk will be in sunlight but then late Arvo when sun is gone. I get cold but warm up quickly when moving.

Have sneakers+jeans (black or blue). Do I go with

    • singlet and light knit long sleeve top + pashmina/glove/beanie backup
    • long sleeve undershirt and long sleeve knit + …
    • do I go full overcoat and have to stash/carry it?
    • or big warm jumper
    • or a light jacket.

Its sunny and no wind but it’s fekkin brisk.

      You need a wooly cape!

      • imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Love a cape! I do have a couple of ponchos that serve the same purpose

        source
    • just_kitten@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Big warm jumper would be my go, rather be too warm than too cold this time of the year.

Right now it’s about 18 inside with the splitty on low. I’m in shorts and a tee shirt with a thin long sleeve top over the top + socks. But I’m not going anywhere. On Thursday I wore the same except with shoes as well and a giant puffer jacket with no long sleeve shirt. I was actually a bit hot (shopping day, so I was in 22° environments most of the day), but I like that jacket because it makes me feel like a 😎 emoji with a “get out of my way” vibe

      source
    • Mittens_meow@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

Got a lightweight puffer jacket that you can stash in a bag?

      source
      • imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone ⁨1⁩ ⁨year⁩ ago

I must the the only melburnian who does not own a puffer anything…but I did grab a Woollen cardi as a extra layer

Alright I’ve mostly got the frame of my travel down pat - still need to work out accom for the latter half of my trip, but at least I know how long to spend in each general area. Still yet to organise travel sim and travel insurance, although my friend is very generously lending me their rather primo backpacking rucksack that I can use for this trip, otherwise I was looking at having to possibly fork out for that too (my own daypack is on its last legs and a suitcase would be a bitch)

I’ve spent the last 3 hours whipping up some curries to tide me over till I leave. Tidied the kitchen, had a shower, ate dinner, and am just wiped out now. Brain overloaded from all the research. Will look through it tomorrow morning with fresh eyes. Over the last couple weeks I’ve noticed that I find it easier to put a natural stop to things rather than fixating/hyperfocusing well into the night.

Maybe at long last I’m getting better at pacing myself… that or I’m getting old and tired more easily. Am definitely taking a cue to have plenty of “do nothing” periods slotted into my travel schedule.

Yep, scheduling in down/chillax time is essential for travel. As is chillax time at home.

I don’t know what to have for dinner tonight.

Do I make mushroom soup and toss pasta into it with some toasted bread on the side or do I cook up a big pot of bolognaise sauce with pasta that it’ll last a week.

    Decisions decisions. Help!

You’ll just have to settle for stroking your chin in that case.

        I’m sure it’ll still work.

Can I place an advance order for a nice leisurely brunch, with copious quantities of coffee, for about 10 am? 3 people, no allergies or food avoidances, other than that chef’s choice.
