Feels like I shouldn’t have woken up this morning. The state of the world at the moment is indeed grim.
With the Bondi incident yesterday Iran has launched a drone attack on Israel.
It’s bound to escalate ever further now.

I don’t mind reading or watching news.
It’s all the Russian shills and the idiots ( also many well meaning but misinformed people) they have brainwashed that annoy me.
How was it?
Ok so 20k steps and a bit day at the gym requires more than 10 hours sleep.
I feel fuuuuuuucked.
You need more chicken and vegetables … /s
Maybe a chicken and vegetables smoothie? Lol
You are up there with the chickens at 20k
I’m becoming one with the chickens. Perhaps they’ll accept me as one of their own?
20k is a fair amount. I find I get pretty tired if I get up there.
Why’s it so quiet up in here. I wanna here y’all’s thoughts.
I’ll go: I like the Dixie Chicks, and I dislike that they were pressured into rebranding to ‘The Chicks’
I’m in bed because i gotta get up dawns crack.
I decided to have another beer and that probably means I WFH tomorrow
Am a bit bored so checking out things on YouTube. Have seen apartment therapy and now watching a couple of tourists talking about Melbourne. Fitzroy mostly, and they’re making a fuss of Lune. Are the croissants really that good?!
Lune croissants are as good as the supermarket croissants in France but 5 x the price
They’re very good. also overpriced and not worth queuing for
Wine!!
Also, isn’t it crazy that gravity caused time dilation!? A clock on an object on an elliptical orbit (i.e not circular) will tick slowrr the closer it is to the body it is orbiting, and tick faster the further away it is.
the change in time of ticking only changes in relation to the object being orbited
That’s false. A clock will tick every second
I’ve been watching cinema therapy talk about the Twilight movies. I never knew they were that bad.
It’s amusing tho watching Robert Pattinson mess around with different acting styles just for fun.
Story question. What is a 100 yr old vampire doing going to high school?
There’s a rather fun fantasy book by Pamela Dean called Tam Lin, where the baddies are a couple of people from Shakespeare’s troupe of actors who now live in Minnesota, where they go to college. Because that’s a protected space where they can learn about the modern world without too many consequences for making mistakes due to ignorance. Perhaps the same applies to the 100 yr old vampire. Though 100 years is approximately 1920 these days, which is not all that different from today.
The were? Eww.
Very woke
I’m watching Lego Master and all the builds are shit.
I can’t say I’ve ever watched it. I bet it’s fun though.
I’m watching the second American season of Love on the Spectrum and it’s really heartwarming like the others
I will admit I was left a bit unenthusiastic about them too.
Rolling a roach out of the hard paper my Centrelink letter was printed on: true blue Aussie battler stuff right here folk ✌️🤘
Bible paper works a treat as well, but how many of us have those lying around?
I’ve rolled many joints and cigarettes from hotel bible paper
some old shakespeare books are on rice paper 👍
Drop by your nearest motel and thank Gideon for the opportunity.
No bibles allowed in my home; only music above 180bpm and an open mind
I feel like I have wasted this whole weekend. Been feeling flat and neauseus and have not been able to stop falling asleep. I know it’s stress and a few digestion things I can’t get right but I am sick of crashing when I finally have a day to myself. I looking around at the cleaning and washing and week prep I have to get done now and feeling anxious. Sometimes my body and mind are not my friends.
If you can call in a cleaner, order in food. Have a nap.
hugs
Thank you. I needed that permission. I ordered some indian takeaway which will cover dinner and tomorrow’s lunch. Did a couple of plant chores and the one load of washing to get me through the week. If I can empty the dishwasher I will call it a day.
Okay, need detox. I usually stay away, but I have just gone down the rabbit hole. A bit too much to bear. That said extra squeeze your loved ones.
Now, might be time to get a delicious brunch.
Unfortunately I was waiting for my regular shows to be in but they overrided the broadcast to do it so I had no choice but to have all the news on :(
Just waiting for all my footy stuff to start today to balance it all out.
Yup. I’ve put on ‘what we doing the shadows’ for background distraction while cleaning today; the news is too much.
I don’t really keep up with the major affairs happening if they don’t directly affect me. I eventually do do a deep dive on them, but i don’t until things calm down and I can actually look into things without being yelled at about them. I didn’t look into Russia/Ukraine for 7 months after the war began, and I’ve got zero clue what’s happening in Israel/Palestine.
It’s a little bit ignorant, and pisses most people on both sides off, but it’s what I have to do to keep from spiralling and obsessing over the news. If it hasn’t happened in Australia and doesn’t directly affect me or people I care about, I’m not going to bother with it until I can look into it without people twisting it to seem like the world’s ending
Sat through new Bluey. Many feels
That was a rollercoaster.
I really hate everything to do with education and careers. So much bullshit red tape on pretty much everything I want to do :/
Don’t let it put you off. It’s worth pursuing things, and DT is always here should you need advice navigating systems!
Especially the limited-chance ones, or the ones where you have to wait on someone to respond, where a non-response could either be denial, or just them being busy for a few weeks.
took days of tweaking settings and programs and have finally gotten my overheating computer under control 🤞 I hope it stays that way
I wanted to sleep in. Brain says no.
My brain did the same. Bad brain!
I’ll do tonight’s new thread.
Trying to find an unscented pet shampoo is near impossible. They all have increasingly elaborate fragrances which are unnecessary and uncomfortable for animals - especially asthmatic ones like mine. Bonus point for essential oils and botanicals that are actually toxic to cats and sometimes also dogs 🙄 Lavender. Tea tree oil. Peppermint. Eucalyptus. Grapefruit oil. Orange oil (basically citrus oils in general). Patchouli, which contains phenols. ALOE VERA. ST JOHN’S WORT. To be fair they’re mostly for dogs but there isn’t much out there I’d risk using on a cat and some of those ingredients are toxic to dogs as well. I found one unscented option - Dermacare Natural Shampoo - and was about to buy it until I googled Glydant (DMDM hydantoin). It’s an antimicrobial preservative that releases formaldehyde and was the subject of a lawsuit against Tresemme. Suspected in multiple cases of allergic reactions/dermatitis and hair loss. It’s not the only formaldehyde releasing preservative but a commonly used one in makeup, shampoo, lube etc. Yeah nah get fucked. I’m not risking it. I don’t feel like dragging my cat to emergency for an asthma attack, allergic reaction, or poisoning because she licked some shonky product off her fur. Hypoallergenic dish soap or pure unscented bar soap it is.
Just a thought. Could you use rolled oats in a stocking as a gentle wash for Pushkin?
Unfortunately it’s sticky greasy residue smeared into her fur from her eardrops, so needs some kind of detergent.
or just dabbing with soft paper towels
Could try this? It’s shampoo I’ve used in past with my cats and kittens I’ve fostered. shampoo.
Thanks, that does look much better than the other options I saw. I’m not familiar with the Kakadu plum but I might order it if I don’t keep going with the fragrance free dish soap
Melbcat got seen yesterday due to crying, she looked pretty good healthwise so she’s just going to get the ear wash twice a week to get rid of any discomfort from the ear drops residue. She still cried again at 3am so I’m not sure what’s up. I’m meant to also wash the greasy smears of eardrops off the fur around her ears but the pet shampoo they gave me is quite scented and she’s asthmatic :/
I might wait and ring them on Monday and ask about that. My instincts are screaming at me not to use it, especially so close to her face and sponging with a facewasher… I do not want to be dragging her back to emergency because she’s having trouble breathing. The vet has told me not to use human shampoo even though I have some of the unscented A’kin left… I’d much rather use a single drop of unscented dish soap in a bowl of warm water and wipe off as much grub as I can with that.
A few drops of unscented dish soap in warm water did remove a little of the greasy/grimy ear drops residue from Melbcat’s fur. I could see some dirt came off on the cloth, but not that much. I’ll just keep making gentle attempts with it very well diluted on a cloth. I could suds up more directly but don’t want to do that near her eyes, it might dry her skin out, and she isn’t going to let me pour water near her face to rinse it all properly.
I’ve put on earmuffs and done one room with the screamer vacuum. It’s wobbly and coming apart a bit down the centre but the new one is coming soon. Maybe I can even use it more without worrying about burning it out. Melbcat was actually more chill with the noise than usual, coming past while it was on to have some water and approaching to let me know to scoop her box. I do have her on quite a high dose of Zylkene.

so many hugs for being such a good cat friend 😻😘
She’s now in the hiding spot least visible to me after I did the first maintenance ear wash… I’m in the doghouse.
I think that typing of hers was an attempt to call for help or report me.
Pork hock is now stowed in the slow cooker with carrot/celery/onion base, a shit tonne of garlic and some spices. Looking forward to quality pork stock and some super tender meat by about 9 pm this evening.
Ooo, sounds deeelicious!
Sounds like I’ll be buying ham hock this week!
Smoked ham hock makes the BEST pea & ham soup! No contest. I’m using an unsmoked, uncured raw hock for the stock, which is my real goal. The meat will be a delightful extra.
30/50. Not my best but OK I guess.

I rediscovered Local Natives on my walk with the doggo tonight. And had a flashback to probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen at the corner. They had two drummers and it was awesome.
Good Sunday
Watching Fallout, episode 2.
I like the cartoon characters, everyone is so extreme. Quite a few moral quandaries too, which I suppose is in line with video games’
It has Michael Emerson in this episode. He’s so good.

I have a confession to make. Sometimes when I’m cooking something in the oven/air fryer and it says to turn at half way… I don’t. And it’s fine.

I usually turn things in the air fryer since the heat comes from the top and I don’t want it to burn, but in the oven I only turn things if I’m particularly worried about coming then right, like a roast chook or something
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 months ago
I’m the opposite. I generally turn things in the oven because where they sit on the metal tray (particularly if there is some oil) tends to get hotter and so it is more evenly cooked/browned when I turn it. Whereas the air fryer has air movement all around it so tends to cook more evenly, so I only turn that if I put it on a solid surface that restricts airflow.
