if it makes you feel any better, i downvoted both of you (but this one is better because it seems to depict actual items, and not ai generated nonsense)

I’m sorry, friend! When I looked at this post, I thought it would be funnier if it was spelled like “jhoes.” I guess this one performed better because it eased people into it whereas you outright went there.
explodicle@local106.com 1 year ago
I think it’s because he just did the wordplay and didn’t ask “our opinion on” jhoes, which raises the jhoish question.

Maybe don’t use AI to make your memes next time and see what kind of response you get

I mean, it’s not inciting hatred towards or promoting any negative stereotypes about Jews, is it?
Anamana@feddit.de 1 year ago
I agree, plus it’s a well made pun.

If people call anything that mentions Jews as antisemitism then I think this counts
Halosheep@lemm.ee 1 year ago
Sorry buddy, you said that word jew. That antisemitic.
altima_neo@lemmy.zip 1 year ago
Reminds me of a friend of a friend who thought calling people Mexican was racist.
A_Very_Big_Fan@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I think the use of this particular meme format implies that asking the question is ridiculous. So I think he’s saying it’s not.

I get the joke. I just don’t get how “Jews” comes from J + “shoes” without forcing the spelling, which is what I’m pointing out.

not sure why this wouldn’t follow the standard naming convention and be “joes”.
MacNCheezus@lemmy.today 1 year ago
Because that would be pronounced differently, wouldn’t it.

Makes me sad to see people acting like the simple act of saying “Jews” is offensive. We survived thousands of years of persecution, the fucking holocaust, and you think this is where we draw the line? Come the fuck on lol.
Slovene@feddit.nl 1 year ago
Are you saying this as a Jew or as a vampire? Or as a Jewish vampire? m.youtube.com/watch?v=HAom8ws8qp4
vampire@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Judaism and vampirism have a lot in common.
When you factor in the blood libel, the connection goes even deeper.
giantfloppycock@lemm.ee 1 year ago
Really stupid question, but is the term “Jew(s)” derogatory in any way when referring to Jewish people(s), or should one say “Jewish person/people”?
vampire@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Jew is the correct word to refer to a member of the Jewish faith. I don’t think anyone would suggest that it was derogatory unless they themselves were hateful toward Jews. It’s kind of like how people who hate Americans use the term “Americans” hatefully.
AeonFelis@lemmy.world 1 year ago
If you don’t mind, we are preferred to be called “The Chosen People”.
XEAL@lemm.ee 1 year ago
Where do mods draw the line, tho?
explodicle@local106.com 1 year ago
Somewhere beyond “offensive”.
