“Knowledge forbidden? Suspicious, reasonless. Why should their Lord Envy them that? Can it be a sin to know? Can it be death?”

There weren’t billions of people back then, even counting natural disaster losses.
WraithGear@lemmy.world 19 hours ago
i mean he’s has killed people for much longer then just that flood that killed all living things except like 100 of them.
RattlerSix@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
A lot of Christians believe there were billions of people killed in the flood because they believe that people lived hundreds of years, had dozens of children and populated the earth in a short time.
This guy, who calls himself bible science guy, estimates 10 trillion people with a straight face and thinks that number is low. …wordpress.com/…/4-population-growth-how-many-die…
This guy claims 5 to 17 bullion and has fancy graphs www.ldolphin.org/pickett.html
This site claims 9 billion is conservative www.ldolphin.org/popul.html
This is all people who don’t know jack shit about population statistics practicing population statistics

Well the bible claims that human civilization “covered the whole earth” before the omnicide flood. If we’re dealing in alternate history anyways might as well call it billions of people, it’s believable enough within the narrative.

I think god is absent and satan is the one Christian’s call “god”. They’ve been duped this whole time.

Anyone who has done DMT knows that the Cosmic Serpent, the green lady, the insectoid creatures, the scary clowns, the machine elves . . . . while scary to us, are benevolent, welcoming and healing. I have always felt that the serpent in the tree of knowledge (Ayahuasca) was the good guy.

Ask yourself this: If he’s the good guy why did he put that little bug on your screen?

ERM, actually, didn’t he kill Jobs family? (Not like it makes it any better. Imagine someong killing your family, then gives you 2 extra families in the future)
brownsugga@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Sounds suspiciously like something Satan would say

Ha, the gall that mortals with brains the size of acorn squash could claim to know the divine universal plan, as if there were only one, with war their default recourse despite claiming every moral high ground within their limited sight. What a total copefest in a swamp of hypocrisy taking place on the only eden they’ll ever know, only to ruin it for their own extinction.
Objection@lemmy.ml 1 day ago
I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.
My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Perhaps it wasn’t what you refer to as God as the founding impetus for the capacity to do those impressive things, but the insanely improbable fusion of a bacterium and archaeon to form a viable eukaryote, which would probably be very proud of its great^huge grandchildren for evolving such effective survival traits, albeit maladaptive in a finite-resource environment.

Xtians certainly modeled themselves after god pretty well.
