Thought I escaped the pitbull/wasp hate hive mind. Funny how I interact with both pitbulls and wasps, yet I haven’t been bothered by either.
Maybe it’s a you problem.

Pitbulls are largely due to the owner, and the actual dog is 99% of the time totally fine.
Wasps can fuck the fucking fuck right the fuck off though.

To each their own. But I talk at the wasps around me and they are generally pretty cool.
I don’t have conversations with them, I literally just expel words out my lower face hole at them in a generally positive tone.
And I know this is semantics, but ants and bees are important, and they evolved from wasps. Sorry if I’m coming across pugnacious, I just got a soft spot in my heart for arboreal guys (I.e. paper wasps).

In an online context, it’s almost impossible to have a real conversation about pitbulls. The people that don’t like them are earnestly scared of them, for themselves, or for others. The people who love pitbulls love them like anyone else would their dogs. For the owners, they are part of the family.
For what it’s worth, I thought the rhetoric was overblown until I adopted a pit bull myself. He’s a great dog and I love him, but the power and aggression he displayed when he is trying to chase a critter is far above any breed I’ve owned. I don’t know if it rises to the level of needing to be regulated, but if I were running a shelter, I would not adopt a pit bull to a first time dog owner.

It does. That’s the whole point. There’s nothing emotional about this opinion. You don’t have to be scared to think dogs that regularly kill people should be banned. It’s common sense.

Any terrier does that though. The thing is a jack Russell doing it is a joke that a suburban mom can yank to hell and back. A pitbull is 10x the weight and muscle mass of that tiny dog.

You can’t control a pitbull once they are set off. I grew up with a pitbull and seeing it attack and a bunch of strong grown men unable to control it is scary as shit.

Friend of mine had an adult American Stafford shire and a new red nose Pitbull puppy
Puppy wanted to play, Stafford tried to hide behind me.
Puppy started to bite him from behind to initiate play time, Stafford had enough and wanted to scare him away
Half my upper torso was inside Stafford’s mouth.
He immediately recognised his mistake and I wasn’t hurt in any way, but yeah, they do have quite some ability.Still, both of them were one of the nicest dogs I’ve ever met.
They’re really family dogs, but with that, they want to defend their family with all their might as well.
And being jealous over a human baby surely is a problemStill, pretty much all dogs can hurt you and it’s about their owners, who fuck up and those poor dogs need to take the shit for it, when their owner trained them wrong

The last 3 times I heard of a baby or toddler being eaten by a dog, it was a husky, not a pitbull. But nobody ever talks shit about huskies.

Your three data points don’t nullify the larger pattern. Lots of dogs can be shitty. Pit-bulls are uniquely strong and aggressive though. And German Shepherds can be gnarly bastards too. They’ll all fine if their owners know what they’re dealing with and can physically restrain the dog, but that’s so often not the case and owners don’t realize how little control they actually have until their dog is already gnawing on a child’s leg.

All dogs are like that to some degree. It blows my mind how popular they are as pets. And before people call me dog hater, I do have a dog and I treat it well and love it, but I’ll never get another one. They are quality of life decreasers.
