  EXPLAINING THE JOKE FOR WHO DIDN’T GET IT: This is about the movie My Girl, which is about a hypovondriac girl and a boy (on the lower image) with tons of allergies, one of them being bees. At the movie, the girl drops her ring near a beehive, and the boy goes to look for it, only to get stung by bees and die due to his allergy.

  I’d like to point out the actual lyric is ‘made of this’, not ‘made of these’ as most people hear it.

    That’s such a shame since neither word rhymes with the word “disagree.”

    Anyway, if what you say is true, Annie Lennox sure has a weird way of pronouncing the word “this.” She pronounces it EXACTLY like the word “these.” Art is weird.

      She says more “theeeeeeis”, there’s a hint of an “is” sound at the end of the word.

      I don’t get it. It’s meant to rhyme with “disagree”, and it’s not like the song is interpreted differently if it’s “these” vs “this”.

      So, funny enough the actual lyric is “disagris”, not “disagree” Annie Lennox just says it a little differently, but they both rhyme.

  I’m 60, and I have refused to watch My Girl to this day, because I learned how it ended back when it was released. Sometimes, spoilers are a good thing.

    I wish I could tell you that the rest of the movie is worth it, but it really isn’t.

    In fact, it’s how great the preceding 99% of the movie is that makes the ending many times more devastating than it otherwise would be!

      Yep - ended up that he actually pulled through and went to live with his biological mom and touched the lives of many. It’s called “The Good Son,” and it’s a heartwarming foil to the very sad ending of My Girl.
