Are you able to figure out exactly what benefit this is for? I’d be interested to hear. It’s def not SSI
- Comment on Anon doesn't have a plan 12 hours ago:
I’m sorry your girlfriend is having to go through that. I gotta be honest, I’ve never heard of someone having to reapply for benefits unless their benefits were turned off, either due to incarceration or failure to utilize their money so it piled up in an account until they had too many assets and were disqualified from the program. Also, all the correspondence for this benefit is typed and printed, I’ve never heard of anyone having to hand write anything. This is in reference to SSI (Supplemental Security Income).

In the short-term, maybe? But if you have the skills to be employed, you will be much better off over time starting to work somewhere. Having a job sets you up to obtain a better or higher paying role in the future

I’d rather would have done an apprenticeship some 10 years ago and would have had a steady, less paying job, than this worthless engineering degree and zero real job experience. The issue is that now the cost of living is way to high to afford living on an apprenticeship salary for a few years, which is way below minimum wage
Are you working using your engineering degree? You make it sound like you’re unemployed, so how is an apprenticeship salary worse than no salary? I don’t know where you’re located, but here in the US, there are many trade programs at community colleges that are very affordable. Your engineering background being applied to a trade also puts you in a position to differentiate yourself in a few years once you’re independent. You should let go of what your parents want right now and start planning for your own future. What are you, about 36? It’s def not too late.

State pension, in the US? A laughable concept. Best anon could hope for is Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a program for people who are disabled, are unable to work, and have never worked. There’s a lengthy application process involving clinical records of the disabling condition, not everyone who applies is approved, and the maximum benefit is about $950/month, relegating you to extreme poverty forever

I just have to disagree. On a product like this, if the nutrition facts for 100g are listed, then you’re going to have to do the math re: how much you’re actually going to use. Having it measured out in a realistic serving size makes more sense to me.
There’s also pretty much no issue comparing products, as products in the same category usually all have the same serving sizes.
Cooking spray just happens to be used so sparingly that its nutritional value when used appropriately is usually negligible

(Luigi Mangione) detailed some of his planning leading up to the murder. He said that he was motivated by years of back pain and what he believed was a health insurance system working against him. He said that, once he learned that the UnitedHealthcare Company was holding an investor summit in Manhattan, he e-mailed company leadership posing as an investor to get information about where and when this meeting was taking place.
And that’s how he was able to confront Brian Thompson. Mangione also shared an observation with the judge that had clearly made an impression on him. He talked about how, while he was posing as a wealthy investor, leadership e-mailed him back within an hour, and he said that was in stark contrast to his interactions with insurers as a patient.

No one in Texas is ever gonna try to present California as a good thing…..
Why would you say that?! California is amazing in many ways. I just think french fries on a burrito sounds very strange…
Most of the time when I get a burrito here, it includes chopped smoked chicken, chorizo, or al pastor as the protein, with mexican rice, refried beans, avocado, lettuce, pico, and jack cheese. Sometimes I’ll include sour cream or salsa, usually a roja for me but tomatillo is super popular. Cholula also

This post is the first time I’ve ever even heard that a California burrito is a specific thing
- Comment on Those moutains are so quaint 6 days ago:
That second California burrito is definitely a Texas burrito. We do beans and rice in ours. I’ve literally never heard of fries going in a burrito, and the concept makes me uncomfortable lmao

Did you move from a more densely populated area to a less densely populated area? Because if I moved from my bigger city with amazing food to a nearby smaller city, my food options would immediately suck

What if he has a stroke and loses much of his voluntary muscle function, rendering him unable to walk, talk, or use his hands, but he’s completely present cognitively so knows he’s trapped in a broken, doomed body and has to feel and tolerate the Haitian immigrants wiping his ass at the home his children put him in

I sincerely disagree with this. I think Merrick Garland genuinely viewed his role and himself as “separate” from or “above” politics or the threat Trump posed. This is honestly more in line with previous DOJs as far as political impartiality, however he was not what we needed in that moment.

The main ingredient in cheesecake is cream cheese, and you need like 2 lbs (32 oz) for an average cake, so that’s immediately like $9 before all other ingredients

Having lived in Texas for 39 years, I don’t think it’s delusional this time. Wendy Davis, Beto O’Rourke, Colin Allred…I wanted all of them to win but knew it was super unlikely.
What’s different this time is that Paxton has such a lengthy, tainted history in Texas. He’s made lifelong enemies of so many Republicans in this state, and Talarico is so very, very palatable to them with his level of comfort framing all of this through Christianity. Obviously, nothing is in the bag, but I have confidence in this race for Talarico I never had for the other 3 candidates I mentioned
