Melbcat is staying in hospital for supportive care and iv fluids until she can be taken to the specialist (very soon). She rested against me to cuddle and took a few treats but she was really not looking good.
spoiler
Waiting on a blood test result tomorrow that will let me know whether she could possibly have improved enough to come home and be on sub q fluids (which unfortunately are often a palliative care measure), or whether things are more serious or deteriorating. Euthanasia was brought up but I don’t want to go there yet and will be pulling for her. I’m hoping fluids can get her values back down to her normal but this has probably pushed her much further down the CKD stages if it doesn’t kill her outright. This is so sudden. Blaming myself for this. I could have just continued with the Aldara cream in the hope it worked but I had to be sure and so complications from the surgery crashed her previously stable health. Now I wish I hadn’t pursued it.

Melbcat is improving behaviourally, has eaten a little and started hissing at the vets. Waiting on bloodwork but that’s better than the complete lethargy of yesterday.
Touch wood, I thought I’d killed her.

Glad to hear she’s doing better, and please, maybe be a little kinder to yourself, dear Melba.

I am so glad she is feeling better.
Dehydration can make them feel very average, us too, and hopefully she’s well enough for home soon.

I wanted to take her home tonight but didn’t risk it. I’ve managed to get her in for tomorrow with the vets who did the surgery so she’s being picked up and going straight there.
