Mickey’s delivery of Greenies arrived phew! He’s be mad if he didn’t have them over Xmas lol.
Also the neighbour was giving away their rug, so Mickey gets a Xmas present
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
Oh he is loving that
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
Nice. That would make it very easy to photoshop him into any location you want.
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
Got a pressure washer you can blast the rug on a hot day? When I do mine so much mank comes out.

I don’t really know how to start this but here I go. My husband had a catheter removed in a hospital I didn’t know existed let alone been to. My daughter graduated high school and was also diagnosed as inattentive ADHD all within a week. Phew.
She was in NZ at the time her dad fell sick and I didn’t have the heart to tell her over the phone so when she came home I had to tell her in the garage. She took it really well.
Because I was focused on his recovery I wasn’t able to unpack her diagnosis properly but credit to her she completely understood. Even helped me out with some stuff around the house.
She’s now on different meds that so far are working. She’s still my forward thinking, intelligent, compassionate, well mannered, funny, cyclonic, messy baby girl and always will be.
It’s been a crazy month.
Ps. Don’t worry. I’m showered with love and support from them both. I truly am a lucky lady.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
Wow, it’s the time of year where everything seems to happen at once! Luckily you’re a strong and rational cool-headed person who can deal 😎
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
It was a very surreal moment in time. I told myself this is not about me and I got on with what I needed to do. Then I had time to myself to decompress. Many many long baths helped with this.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
That’s an awful lot to happen in a short space of time. Hope you, husband and daughter are doing as well as can be. Stress can sometimes hit you after the fact, so look after yourself this Xmas and new year!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
Right now life couldn’t be better. It’s certainly gonna be a merry Christmas for me.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 15 hours ago
Woof, definitely a lot going on for you of late!! Glad to hear you’re getting lots of love and support while doling it out to them! Hopefully some peace and calm for you three soon!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
We have big plans for boxing day when she’ll be spending it with her friend away from the house. Lol.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
Hugs to you all.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
Thanks friend. I do ❤️ hugs.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
That’s a lot in a short time, I’m glad everything is ok now

I burned my tongue eating dinner yesterday and still feel it a bit today. I just don’t know how to wait to eat the steaming hot food in front of me.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
Must’ve been the day for it. I burnt my lips eating a noodle soup that was very hot both temperature wise and spicy wise. I think my lips got confused with what kind of heat I was dealing with, and today I was mildly worried I was having an allergic reaction to something as my lips were swollen and numb and I looked embarrassingly like I’d had a procedure 😆
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
Christmas shopping. I am so excite.
I found an original 1969 3D Toppan postcard of the Moon Landing, near perfect condition, for my dear friend who is an amateur astronomer. I’ll put it in a good frame.
And a beautiful 1960s murano necklace with green glass beads that glow, the colour is so pure and the glass so crystalline, and it has pretty wire work settings. It will look lovely on her.

Train excitement!
There was a freight train derailment just past Newport. The train I was on slowed right down as we went past so I had a good squiz.
Two freight cars fell completely, half a dozen other cars were off the tracks. New tracks were already being built where tracks had been destroyed. There were huge cranes lifting up the fallen cars, they had large chains around the bellies of the cars.
It was a long train too, had three large engines and maybe 50 cars.
There were special rail cars to test the tracks, to fix the tracks, to build tracks, crane train cars too.
No one was hurt and it was all very interesting.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
Oh wow. That would have been fascinating

What are some of the best things you’ve experienced this year?
my answer
1. Meeting so many new people in all the different settings I’ve been in, from uni to work to my meetup group! Joining the meetup group has been one of the best things I’ve done all year. I went into it feeling nervous but now I’ve kind of blossomed a bit, and aim to talk to everyone at each event when they’re small. 2. Started listening to jazz music. I had dabbled in it, but I just didn’t get the fuss. Then some YouTube video I found talked about why people find jazz hard to listen to, and gave album recommendations. I was hooked after that. Also listened to a lot more classical, ambient and soundtrack music! 3. Watching way more movies. I thought I wasn’t a movie person, but then a couple of years ago, I watched quite a few. Then this year, I made a goal to watch a movie a week for eight weeks, and have now watched 56 movies this year. Movies are a wonderful way to switch off for a couple of hours and be immersed in a story. Disney Pixar movies were probably the ones I rated the highest overall. 4. Starting my uni course and going on placements. I have learnt so much from watching my classmates and experienced teachers teach. I’ve gotten great advice from mentors and have also realised I might be better doing something in small groups or one-on-one in the education setting. I’m still going to get this degree because I have ~10 months left, and then I’ll figure out what I want to do after. 5. Continuing playing music. I don’t practise nearly enough, but I love picking up an instrument for relaxation purposes.

Mine’s simple.
Remaining sane (ish) lol.
Hopefully it lasts.

Watching my daughter become a more confident independent young lady, getting more out there and experiencing life like young people should thanks to her getting her licence.
As a consequence husband and I having a lot more alone time.
We were a happy family before but now it’s more different kinda happy.

There has been so much happen this year it’s hard to believe it hasn’t been longer. I’m never any good at picking out a ‘best’ thing though, too many variables!
I’ve bought a new (to me) van to replace my aging car. I’ve moved to Ballarat, which was easier than I expected it to be (but still a lot of work!). I’ve done most of the hard work in establishing new gardens. My mother has moved into aged care and is doing well. I’ve finished my Diploma.
Probably the best thing to me is just seeing a lot of hard work making changes in my life over the last five or so years start to pay off. I’m still not drinking. My budgeting is working well and I’m seeing my savings continue to grow instead of my debt. My meal planning system is working well and I am mostly eating good healthy food. The decluttering and attention to good tidying/cleaning habits mean my house is generally tidy and welcoming instead of chaos.

I got stuck in the rain yesterday.
And now I’m pretty sure I have a cold. Another excuse to stay in bed and chill?
Why not lol
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 15 hours ago
I’ve been trying to find somewhere that does bulk meat delivery at recent prices as the places I was going to aren’t available to me now I’ve moved. There are an awful lot of ridiculously expensive options out there, I’m not sure how they have enough customers willing to pay that much. One I just looked at came out to $43 a kilo, and half the box was things like mince, sausages, chicken fillets etc. that are generally a lot cheaper. One that let you choose your own options had little packets of bacon that came out at $83 a kilo. I’m happy to pay that for a couple of top end items, but it is way too high for an average.

Man, good thing I’ve taken off until the new year. This weekend felt like it flew by

I’ve also made the phone calls this morning. Gotta eat that frog

Negatives for today: I am at work
Positives for today: Yummy breakfast muffin and a chicken salad for lunch. People haven’t been burning things down or crashing their cars too much so far today, so I’ve gotten some life admin out of the way.
I think on balance today is a good day.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 day ago
Oh man. This fatigue is kicking my ass to the point of disrupting my sleep. I fell asleep in the early evening/late afternoon and woke up at midnight. Guess it’s true if you refuse to properly rest your body really will make you.
spoiler
I have the opportunity to join a new discord. I’m tempted but not so sure. It says that this one will be nicer and more inclusive, and perhaps if everyone is joining again at the same time they would be less subtly territorial. But I don’t know. There are so many reasons it’s not a good idea (discord itself included) and I might have to choose to take care of myself even if it means missing out.
Melbcat is being a fussy clingy baby. She’s eating but maybe doesn’t feel well. I’ll see if the vet is open to call tomorrow. I did take note of the Xmas hours but immediately forgot.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 20 hours ago
Maybe Melbcat knows you are sad? Or is love bombing you so you give in and let her outside to get that Willi wagtail 🤣
And yeah I understand about the discord thing. I’ve had similar experiences with community. Once you’ve been let down it’s hard to get up the energy again. Maybe join and lurk for a bit to decide the vibes? Whatever you decide will be fine.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 16 hours ago
She probably is, there have been petitions at the door. But yeah also she’s probably a bit sooky from not feeling great.
Yeah I think I might give it a miss and just deal with the FOMO. I’ve got a lot going on and don’t really need to stress about anything else.

There’s this lady I talk to when I feed the strays. She walks her dog and we have a bit of a chinwag.
She hadnt seen me for a while because I don’t get home till 6pm to feed the cats due to work commute.
She came over just now to see if I was OK.
