The final results for my last unit are out, I did somehow manage to scrape through with a Distinction.

The office dog is a cavoodle with a white patch on her chest. Her bone shaped tag makes it look like a bowtie over a dress shirt so she looks very fancy as she pathetically begs everyone for food
tone212_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Being asked if I have plans on x day without telling me what they’re planning. I don’t fall for that. I need all the details upfront!
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
IKR?
so great you’re free! You can help me express the dog’s anal glands!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
you’ve met my sister then

I do my dog’s, if anyone needs a lesson hmu.

Gonna keep it really vague. I am now a pseudo nurse to my beautiful husband who has a temporary piss bag strapped to his leg. It’s definitely a new for us.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Oh my! Best wishes to husband, and some strength and patience vibes for you.
This isn’t related to the shaver incident, is it?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Hahaha. Nah but we did laugh at the amount of people who got to see my handiwork.
Eagle@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I did wonder about your hospital comment last night… I hope you’re both travelling well. Community nurse here, feel free to hit me up with any questions. Nothing is too gross or stupid.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Omg. Thank you. How the fuck do I wash the overnight bag or do I need to? It wasn’t explained to me how but in the pamphlet it says to.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Oh that’s not good.
Wish him all the best from us.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
👍
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Hope he’s okay!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
He’s ok. He’s a little shook but doing well. Thank you.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Oh shit. Hope he’s OK ❤️
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I’m sorry to hear it. It’s good though because it means he’s been seen and everything is being managed. Fingers crossed he’s okay soon 🤞

bros are big mad about italy’s femicide laws. It’s sexism! Fascism!!! When will we consider the real victims here - men who murder women???
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Yeah those threads… they get so pissy and defensive.
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
it’s all fear based, I get that…but god damn, stop listening to that lizard brain ya oiks
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
The container deposit machine is not as hungry as I hoped it would be. I got rid of, like, ten and then it told me it was full.
Dangit

Can’t wait for probation to be over so I can move closer.
In a less negative vibe, I made some marketing material fairly quickly today off the cuff and it seems to be a hit!

Managed to stay down the beach an extra 2 days. Back in Melbs now.
A father w/ his 3 identical triplet daughters sitting opposite was interesting. Haven’t seen that before. All dressed the same which would be confusing.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
super shallow post incoming
the flies and other flying bugs are bad here especially down at the beach, I’ve found using cologne scented shampoo has helped somewhat
would it be too much scent/icky to also use 4711 soap and maybe some extra eucalyptus in my laundry liquid? I don’t want to go the deet route and since the bugs here are clean biters I don’t have a need to
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
It’s worth a shot.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
go the deet route
After seeing what it does to oxalis I’m not putting that on anymore lol.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
You could just pour some 4711 into a little plastic spritz bottle to lightly spray over your clothes. If that’s a bit expensive Florida Water might be more bang for your buck.
That might be a risk for attracting bees though
Alamutjones@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago

many hugs to Melbs and to the CEO fam

I’m bored because I’ve done all the work I can without someone else giving direction.
2 and a half hours to go.

I was late with Melbcat’s afternoon meds due to nap and she hated being dosed directly… but she hasn’t reliably been refusing to have it in meals so I am required to be the bad guy.
The first California poppy has come up. It’s yellow, not the pale faded yellow of the nasturtium but a robust Cadmium yellow.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Californian poppies are very beautiful and grow all over the West Coast like a weed. Little spots of beauty in among some ugly. I loved seeing them. 💛
And no, not the bad guy, you’re doing the right thing. I’m sure if she could understand she wouldn’t be difficult. 😘😘😘
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I wish I could explain to her. Having to force meds so frequently (due to her refusing the easy way) means she gets overhandled and really over it.

Squeezy yoghurt pouches have been acquired in my household and suddenly I’m eating way more yoghurt than I do than just from the tub. The tubs are better for the environment though
Eagle@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
You can buy refillable squeezy pouches. Some of them are even dishwasher safe.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I will look into this, thank you!

Fellow parents… Have any of you gone down the BYOD laptop purchase path through LWT/JB Edu? Apart from it obviously being a brand new device, only advantage I can see is the ease of repairs on site. And seemingly coverage for accidental damage, but I can’t find what is covered when referring to “accidental damage”… I can find the same specs from somewhere like reboot-it for a third of the price, but obviously no servicing…
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I’ve been wondering about this for when the kids are old enough. I could get old laptops from work for like $150 each but then people may not be able to service them because they’re non standard
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I went to Bunnings for some more supplies for my lawnmower restoration (as it was a bit rustier than I realised) and had to divert on the way home due to a road closure. Which meant a nice little drive through the countryside. I even saw an alpaca, freshly shaved so looking very long in the neck.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Blah catching a train after a week of driving sucks ass
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
second load of dishes done , kitchen clean, floor cleaning can wait til later
aspirin taken to knock fever and aches down tho I think moving around more yesterday was good for my back
then more UnKOASing later, after that might even set up some art materials for practice 🙂
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
So we’ve realised that for the sleep screaming to happen, these are the ingredients:
- less than 8 hours of sleep the night before
- double caffeine (I’m usually fine-ish with one matcha but not on an empty stomach)
- stress
So I’m going to give up caffeine for a bit and see how I go. Now that uni is almost over, I won’t have that stress though. But still could be good to give it up so my body can return to some sort of equilibrium and the physical anxiety symptoms may leave. It might be the reason why I have anxiety chest pain everyday

Caught up on Dragula, gosh I love the outfits and drama
Also bought Astroneer on sale on Steam, and it’s so cozy! The logic is consistent (if X does Y, then A should do B and it does), beautiful visuals, no rushing through content. I’m just taking it slow and enjoying the discovery.
I also bought this colouring book from Brunswick Bound, I’m excited to get stuck into it

Morning
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Got my first payslip after dropping to part time. Yes, it looks a little sadder, but given how bone tired I am right now I absolutely cannot wait to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling in complete silence tomorrow morning. Just need to watch the spending a little closer.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Dropping to part time was one of the best mental things I ever did. Yes it’s a money ouch, but not as bad as I thought it might be.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
That’s good to hear… I’m reducing my hours next year and am a bit worried about handling the cut in pay. I’ve lived on way less in the past so know I can do it, and am hoping for less burnout, too 🤞🏼
