that’s lovely, you have such a beautiful garden
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 months ago
So for the evening’s entertainment the Minipeelers and I have made a chocolate cake and “decorated” it lol
Image Many emoji poops were made 😂
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 months ago
That looks like a lovely poo cake 🤭
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 months ago
It’s Jewish new year today, honey cake is the traditional choice. I had some, it was okay, I wasn’t all ohh honey cake, this is what its all about.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Ah, TIL. My calendar is from the zoo and it’s a bit patchy on cultural events, but will tell me stuff like it’s the international day of the cassowary lol
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
That looks so tasty!! Mind sharing the recipe?

I’m the only one in the entire family who likes partner’s dad’s music, because it’s basically just Gold FM 😂
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Gold FM these days just makes me feel old. Not because the music is old… because a lot isn’t… sometimes a banger comes on from my youth and I’m sitting there wondering if it’s the right station heh.
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 months ago
It do be that way. I sometimes do a double take like “wait I thought this was gold? Oh I’m old 😭”
And I did mean Gold FM as it was in the 90s 😂😂😂
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I don’t listen to radio
only in shops and more often than not it annoys me
I always think to myself “would shops have played Doris Day and Bing Crosby in the 80s”?
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I heard KISS on Gold at work. KISS! And Bon Jovi on Smooth. I damn near had a crisis.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Happy Hobbit Day.
I think I will watch the movies today.
and I earned my keep. 🤭🤫
a few months back I bought some merino jumpers at the op shop, they were brand new with tags, very good brands, they were really lovely, cost $10 in total
but they didn’t fit him so I gave them to BIL without telling him they were op shop, he didn’t need to know, they were actually new and I had washed them too
yesterday he came to visit , said he liked those jumpers so much he gave me $200, I protested a lot , of course said nothing about op shop as he wouldn’t approve.
now I’m $190 up ( but I did find them and buy and then gave them to him and he does hate shopping )
score 👍
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 months ago
So that’s $200 worth of books?
How does one celebrate Hobbit Day?
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Second breakfast. Elevensies. Basically lots of food, drinks, books and living your best life.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
That’s a win, good on you!!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
BIL won too, he got $400 of jumpers for $200

Love a good op shop find!

I went to the drug testing centre in Fitzroy on the weekend. I found some drugs in the park a while ago and wanted to see what they were. More as a curiosity than as a fiend. Turns out it was shit meth so I ditched it. But it was a great facility, friendly, clean, professional. I was open about how I got the drugs and they were happy to be able to test them for the purposes of harm reduction.
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 months ago
A shitty meth; the breakfast of derros
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I’m glad curiosity kept the cat safe in this round! Super cool though.

Happy First Official Day of Spring!!!

Going to the ballet on Saturday and am very excited! Except it dawned on me that that it’s on at the same time as the Grand Final. Do you guys think city parking will be affected much by the Grand Final? I’m assuming places like Crown will be way busier than usual because of all of the AFL centric events they have. I was thinking of parking somewhere in the northern CBD since we’ll probably have dinner that way after the show.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I always avoid the CBD on GF night so all I can say is good luck :)
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Thanks, me too. Bought the tickets months ago without thinking too much about the date!
tone212_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I wouldn’t drive in the CBD on GF day, is PT an option? Parking northern CBD works if you don’t need to drive through the CBD. But expect time limits for street parking.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Unfortunately PT into the city isn’t an option due to some very stubborn people, that would be my preference as well! PT in the city is (marginally) acceptable though.
I think I’ll try and book a parking garage that end and see what happens.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 2 months ago
We usually park in North Melbourne (Victoria/Roden St) on weekends and never had problems finding spots. Free parking after 1230.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Thanks for the tip!

Going down to Bussleton today for a few nights with the Partner’s Family. Should have better reception down there so I’ll post some piccies :D
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Woo! I had my school leavers in Busselton 🎉 get some nice jetty pics
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 months ago
It’s an amazing place! Last time I was in Perth we flew in and out of Bussleton. I went on the little train on the jetty and the aquarium at the end! It’s utterly beautiful!!! 💜💜
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
so I had a 3 hour sleep, just had some chicken cottage pie for dinner, think I will have another rest/sleep now
I suppose strong allergic reactions are like being poisoned and take time to recover from
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Absolutely. You need rest. And lots of water
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 months ago
10% off at Dans and Liquor-land if you want to restock the bar.
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 months ago
oh that’s downright dangerous to pull on GF week
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I was slightly late with cat dinner. Misha is jingling her collar disapprovingly at me.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Well I sleep screamed last night again, except this time I had this imagery that someone came into my room and woke up on the last scream shaking. I wonder if it’s just stress.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Learnt a new song.
Right where it belongs by nine inch nails.
Nice to have new one for open mic nights!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I made my own alphabet poster to teach the kids how to read. I just picked up some copies because I got it printed and laminated. It will be interesting to see how the kids take it
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 2 months ago
That’s so cool! I did the same with my kids, with pictures of things they’re actually interested in/are relevant to them. Once you start looking at alphabet stuff you notice all the different things in ones that aren’t produced locally.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 months ago
That’s why I made my own flash cards so I could use photos of things they actually have or are around. I figured it would be easier for them to recognise something like a bus if it was the same one they see around.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Mr Woof was very adamant that I not have another sleep in day today. But now I’m on the couch he’s snoozing on my lap and pinning me so I can’t move.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
woke up in coughing fits, throat not good, gasping,
am up, had an allergy tablet, some vegemite on rice thins and a black cup of warm tea
I had had a few spoons of tiramisu at around 10 , just a few spoons, hardly any at all, maybe 50 mls
when will I learn this allergy is real
not worth it ☹️
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 months ago
There needs to be a way to make mini dairy free versions… Evil dairy, leave her alone!
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Oh hugs. Allergies are shite especially to something as common as dairy
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
my gullet is very sore still
had some panadol and am going to rest some more
this is not fun

I found a review on the other place about water soluble oil paints and apparently the brand they tried was quite thick which would work nicely for me. However the upshot was that cleaning with soap and water alone was possible, it was very slow and inefficient so the person ended up using mineral spirits to clean the brushes. Which I could do outside afterwards in a disposable container and then let it evaporate outside to dispose of the solids in the bin or through the council. However I don’t have that many brushes so might need to clean my brushes between colours, and it’s not practical for me to be outside the whole time. Also the mixture doesn’t maintain integrity and stability when thinned with water, so I would still be dealing with linseed oil and the flammability involved. I’ve been trying out a technique using coloured pencils instead… The idea and some of the effect is the same but let’s say while the medium is much safer and more convenient (especially working from bed) it leaves a lot to be desired. Despite careful sharpening and patient light handed layering there’s still patchiness and weak colour payoff. ___
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
I know that oils is nice because it’s slow drying but it’s difficult to clean up and spirits and turps is toxic as hell
and careful where you point that thing
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Yeah. Acrylic are just not nice
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Realising that a game I used to play for years and really rely on as a constant through tough times is becoming more of a negative stagnant place for me :/ It’s becoming repetitive and depressing as I realise a lot of it is padding, meaningless busywork to substitute for the lack of new content.
It’s a shame because that’s where I was going to spend more time once all my other online spaces are taken away.
Obviously the answer to this is to touch grass. But honestly my irl area is even more toxic. So no. I’m not spending what little physical energy I have now to end up unsafe and stressed.
Then I guess I better get un-artblocked real quick huh? Because the only thing I ever reliably have is myself.

I really struggled to get moving this morning, especially when right as I was ready a band of rain came across and make my bed feel extra dextra cosy.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 2 months ago
My 630 alarm was dismissed and my 7 am one was turned off. Managed to get up around 720 but still stiff and hateful of things I need to do.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
yay, I bought an art projector with some of my op shop windfall money
this is so I can enlarge my photos or designs and then trace outlines for me to paint 😋

Interview 1 in 20 then phone screening straight after!
Something hit me last night at 3am:
If things had turned out differently I would have been planning my funeral.
Sober thought.
