Dropped Miniest off at school and went for a coffee and muffin, then decided I’d make good on my decision to get an air fryer. Wandered around checking out quite a few products I didn’t like before I found one I was happy with the Minipeelers using. Brought it home, reorganised the kitchen to make it fit (so good to be in the kitchen without being interrupted 😆) and then went out again for a walk in the sun under the guise of doing grocery shopping. So far we’ve cooked chips, chicken wings and hash browns. They’re interested in using it and happy with the results. Very happy with how I’ve spent my day 😊I could’ve been more self indulgent I guess, but then I’d just have eaten more cakes or something 😄

This sounds like a wonderful day! Go you!

Dinner
Lemon-pepper snapper with salad.
I didn’t get the fish fully defrosted so oil spat everywhere while I was cooking. I had to do a full clean of the stovetop, benches and back wall.

looks delicious

such a lovely day here
migraine is gone , had to reorganise some stuff but no big drama 😊
visited Footscray, it reminds me of Rue de Wavre in Bruxelles, little African shops and cafes in every corner and arcade and a vibrant street life
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 hours ago
There is no greater feeling than looping a shitty metal riff and then playing your own somewhat out of time drums behind it lol
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 hours ago
lol… for me it’s thinking you’ve done something great and the next morning you wake up, re-listen and think ‘oh… hmm we’ll try that one again’.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 hours ago
Man I hear you loud and clear. Especially when you’ve spent aaaages like, tweaking the kick or the snare and it sounds shit the next day lol

The conference is finally over. If anyone else has been to these types of work conferences, tell me if you’ve heard these before:
There’s never been a more exciting time to be in your department/industry
You’re the underdog and the rest of the organisation doesn’t realise how important you are
How to get a seat at the table with business leaders
It kind of feels like these conferences are to tell everyone in a similar space how important they are and your workplace would collapse without you.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
Did you get any:
I’m so excited to be here!
We need to adapt to the future needs of our customers/industry/world
How to build high performance teams
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
I suggest they pay employees for all the excitement and importance with extra money
I mean, they would collapse without you.

Get the knee pads and toothpaste ready in advance.

I’ve finisished the gardening for the day. The new edger works well and was less strain on my arms than the whipper snipper, as I hoped. It did take a while to do the front even though it’s a small area because there are a lot of edges and things to work around. I ended up doing another run around the back yard too, which gave me more clippings to help weigh down the cardboard designed to smother the grass where the new beds will go. It’s pretty bumpy out there which I’m hoping I’ll be able to improve a bit in time. The grass at the front’s a bit dodgy too - it had turf laid which is very healthy, but because it is on a slope the pieces moved apart a bit and there are ditches between them which need to be filled in. I think I’ll do a topdress in Spring to try and get it a bit neater, and any extra soil can go on the nature strip which is a horrible mess of weeds, including a horrible flat spiky thing I have name the Rosette of Doom. There are also spiky gorse bushes around in a lot of the open land and naturestrips around so I want to try to make sure they don’t get a foothold either.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
I cheated and got a pizza for lunch/dinner.
I’m considering this an at home “spa day”. Complete with drum kit and cat lol

Restoring my old childhood axe over the next few weeks. No manufacturer or any markings but it came from the grandparents place about 50 yrs ago according to ol’ boy so who knows how old it is.
Being down here the salt air has not been kind. But the edge of it is remarkably in good shape given the abuse it took. Blunt as shit so time to change that.
one side untouched:
the other that’s half done (taking forever):
Plan is to restore the edge using the Rag trick
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 7 hours ago
Not to put too fine a point on it, but, that rag trick looks excruciatingly dull.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
It’s looking very good!
Maybe some oil on it? I once restored an axe head in a similar way and was told that sanding it back to shiny would let it corrode again
Catfish@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
I used a long oil soak on my Dad’s old hammers before any sanding. But hammers aren’t intended for sharpening.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
Ooh I was supposed to before but forgot. thanks for the reminder lol chucked some wd40 on for now.

I have a google speaker in the lounge playing music and I have the screen one in the kitchen. Now I know you can pair them so I touched the screen one in the kitchen, went with my gut and now there’s music playing simultaneously from that too! I didn’t press any wrong buttons and it took less than 20 seconds!
This is a win for me. 🥇
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Creating a home group with smart speakers was one of the benefits of them. It’s great walking between rooms and having the music ‘follow’ you. I wish there were more WiFi speakers out there
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Is that what they’re called! Lol
Everything here is connected to them. The lights, TV, sound system. A bit useless on me though.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
Groceries are in and put away. The delivery man was very nice and even had a treat for Mr Woof. Mr Woof refused to be distracted from his guard duties by mere food, but went straight for it the moment the delivery man left. Now I need to chop up the chickens into smaller pieces for the freezer, cut a few bits off the beef roast for the same thing, and work out a container to put the giant bag of bread mix into.
I also need to do some tidying in the front yard while the weather’s good. I just bought a new edger attachment for the grass that will hopefully be a bit neater and easier than the whipper snipper.

Decided to take today to just do relaxing stuff. Last couple of days have been incredibly hectic with losing the job and studying like crazy for the interview last night.
Naps, reading, some pottering around the house and music works for me.
Hope everyone has a great day :)
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
i wanna sleep all day so bad
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
why is it migraines improve after chucking up
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
Do not nap. It fucks up your night sleep. Keep busy and if you need a break do something relaxing but do not nap.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
Take it easy and remember to have some time to yourself with everything going on
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
It’s a full r and r day today then back into the swing of things.
I’ve drawn up a timetable for my weekdays. Definitely want to upskill if I’m going to be off work for a little bit.
Will be going for az104 in 6 weeks. Az900 was pretty easy but 104 is pretty brutal.

Hello everyone, what are you doing to get C-Suite buy-in on your B2B ecommerce strategy today?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
I assume C-Suite is the Cat? My Back to Bed ecommerce strategy is an online grocery delivery that’s coming soon, so I do my shopping and nap simultaneously. The cat is fully on board after I provided a strategic breakfast and snack option.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 hours ago

- Who made this circuit up for you, anyway?
- You bought it in a shop?! Hoo, what a terrible job.
- You’ve got your negative feedback coupled in with your push-pull input-output.
- Take that across through your red-headed pickup to your tweeter …
- If you’re modding more than eight, you’re gonna get wow on your top!
- You try to bring that down through your rumble filter to your woofer,
- and what’ll you get? Flutter on your bottom!!
- Flanders & Swann (sometime in the 60s but still relevant to high tech today imo)

You’ve surfaced a lot of great insights here. Let’s circle back in the short-term with a discovery session to strategise

Apart from this and the other site, I don’t use a lot of social media. Got an insta account which is mostly recipes and humour. When I scroll through reels I keep getting ads for life coaching and christian merch.
I get a fair of bit pleasure of leaving snippy comments in those profiles.

Today I found out that some people don’t see images in their head or have an internal monologue.
Wild.
Couldn’t imagine reading a book without it playing like a movie in my head.
Or the definitely funny internal commentary I’m making about my daily life lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 33 minutes ago
I love reading plays and screenplays , always have had . I play them in my head. 😊
so, Oliver Sacks has a whole book on the subject ( he had mild face blindness ) en.wikipedia.org/…/The_Mind's_Eye_(Sacks_book)
I used to think everyone was the same but it’s actually pretty rare.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
I’m not convinced. People don’t mean the same thing when they say “internal monologue” so it’s not that clear whether the differences are that big.
Is an internal monologue like having a narrator talking constantly? Is it actually like hearing an external sound, or is it an awareness of the concept of the sounds and words along with all the other bits of meaning and fragmented thoughts that run through my brain? If you don’t have any sort of internal monologue how do you ever manage to speak or write? Does writing something down feel like someone else has taken control of your hands and leave you surprised when you read it, because you don’t have the idea in your head forming words first?
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
That’s a good point.
I suppose for me the odd one is the image thing. Can you visualise, in your minds eye… a (something absurd say a giraffe headbutting a panda)? Some people just can’t.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
For me it works very like Pratchett’s Third Thoughts. I find myself watching my own reactions and speech as if they were happening to other people. And adding footnotes inside my head about what I really intended to mean/say/do (never spoken or I’d be tarred and feathered and run out of town probably). That’s the short version - the longer more accurate version WOULD get me tarred & feathered etc. I think.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
Yeah. Same. The pictures on the radio are so, so much better than the ones on the tv or movie screen. Also, the revelation I had when I realised that not everyone keeps a history timeline in their head - that really shook me. I’ve read a lot of history over the years, and that timeline just keeps getting more and more detailed and multibranched. I can’t imagine living without it now. It gives me perspective and I really value that. Can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to not have that context - particularly nowadays.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 30 minutes ago
I have books, files and filing cabinets in my head. I just find the file and turn the pages. New information is catalogued. This is also how I perform in exams, I just read the pages in my head. Unless it’s analysis or calculations and then I plan the problem solving.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
Ooh aphantasia (and hyperphantasia)…
Such an interesting thing.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
It’s fascinating how different peoples brains work. I too was astounded when I found out some people couldn’t imagine images. Exactly like what you said, what’s it like to read a book? But I guess if you don’t know any different then it’s just fine. Brains are wild.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 27 minutes ago
