Ash Vs Evil Dead. Similar vibe to it.
Have you watched masterpiece named "Happy"?

Alas, I think I’ve watched all the films and even the entire series. Damn, what a masterpiece it was. I can watch the rest too, but I’m confused about the order, I think, or whatever it’s called.
dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Preacher could fit the bill.
Crackhappy@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah, this is a good recommendation.
Lycist@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Happy was so fucking good, damn shame they probably will never make a season three.
outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
I dunno, season two was a huge step down from the masterpiece of season 1.
nibbler@discuss.tchncs.de 3 weeks ago
absolutely… i only, but highly, recommend season 1

This was a fucking masterpiece.
I bet people here would be clutching at their pearls the whole time. No way they’d get through it

Why would this be the case? What a silly thing to say.

He’s a dark and twisted independent free thinker, you wouldn’t get it!

Wayne. Trust me, this is the one, although you’ll hate that there was never a second series, it’s still phenomenal
SugarCatDestroyer@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Well, I can try. I think I watched one episode a long time ago and gave up, I don’t remember why.
pH3ra@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
My favourite series, the humour of it is lightyears above anything else I’ve seen
DagwoodIII@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
'Black Sails.' Not quite as whimsical, but it's a kind of prequel to 'Treasure Island' with Long John Silver learning how to be a pirate. Plenty of sex, violence, intrigue, and sex.

Thank you for reminding me this exists! Loved it the first time, high time for a rewatch

I’m about 99% sure I’ve watched this but I do not remember any of it.
dukatos@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
Then you didn’t watch it.
I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yea, that one scene from the first episode of season 2 of the guy skinned alive is unfortunately seared into my memory. Don’t think there’s enough weed in the world to get rid of that.
abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
I haven’t but it’s been on my list for ages. Might move it up, since you’re so passionate about it.
dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
It is pretty unique.

It’s not tv, but you could try reading some of Grant Morrison’s (the creative head) comics. The Filth has a lot of similar vibes and is a great intro to their work, and The Invisibles is nothing if not interesting and strange as all hell. It’s easily my favorite of theirs, but it’s also definitely not for everybody lol
Someone else already mentioned Pulp Fiction, so I’ll also add that Reservoire Dogs and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are a couple other Tarantino flicks that might scratch the itch.
There’s also the Evil Dead series. The vibes get closer and closer to Happy as the series goes on, with Ash Vs Evil Dead (the tv series) probably coming the closest. Haven’t seen the remake/reimagining, but I hear that one’s more into the horror and gore than any of the others. Probably not what you’re looking for, that one.

Have you seen Pulp Fiction? That’s an all-timer. True cinematic masterpiece and it is also bloody and some would say it is trashy.
rainwall@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
Blood, trash and Tarantino? "From dusk to dawn" called, and it wants to fuck pulp fictions feet.
TimeNaan@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah and I hated it

Link? There’s like 100000 shows and movies named “happy.”

Luckily, I still have the opportunity to pirate movies and TV series, so while I still have this opportunity, I will not pay Netflix a penny.

Kung Fury, short but fun. Theres also a second part, Kung Fury The Movie, which sadly hasnt been released yet due to some legal issues.

Haven’t watched this show but the first thing that came to my mind was Shoot 'em Up. Superb action movie. If I recall correctly the first line of dialogue is the protagonist piercing a carrot through a bad guy’s throat and saying “eat more vegetables”.
Broadfern@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I haven’t seen Happy, but Bloody and trashy could also be Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.
It’s also more horror-comedy so idk if that fits your vibe. Still recommend though.

‘Happy’ is kind of aggressively grimy parodically dark film noir about a homeless assassin ruin of a man, hus daughter’s imaginary friend, and nefarious children’s show,
