I can’t speak. I’ve used cut up propane tanks to hold wine.

Throw in a couple litres of vodka and You got yourself a party.

Add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.

I mean I already have microplastics from everything else so would this matter much really? Really should have just sprung for the plastic barrel with the spigot though that is going to be an ordeal to pour nearing the bottom
MarriedCavelady50@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
I’m hedging my bets that microplastics are a cliff problem. Avoid them right and you’ll die before you’ll ever see their effects.
Afflictedlife@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
Hope you are right, but I also keep seeing they are in every organism and also the atmosphere so I don’t know how to dodge that. Suppose it matters how much of a dose you are injesting before it causes serious repercussions. I’m betting on increased dementia personally.

when life gives you a bushel of lemons
RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Eh, getting a used, clean, food-safe barrel is probably about the same price as a sturdy trash bin. They’re quite often available for use as a rain barrel.
MarriedCavelady50@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
White trash me: what’s the issue?
Science nerd me: that plastic probably was intended for maximum durability, not food safety.
Angelusz@lemmy.world 1 year ago
All those yummy acids chewing away at the bin while you’re drinking it – it’s a plastical experience!
slaacaa@lemmy.world 1 year ago
MicroplasticsSynthtic fiber 👍
Phoenix3875@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Some plastic bins are acid resistant. I only learned this from Walter White.

Same, buddy. We used to do this, except it was three quarters lemonade and a quarter whatever cheap liquor everyone brought. So you’d have whiskey, both light and dark rum, vodka (lots of vodka) tequila, gin if one specific guy showed up… Pretty much anything cheap.
Trash cans are not safe to drink out of.
418_im_a_teapot@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
Same. We threw a big college party and made “trashcan punch”. A couple hundred dollars worth of fruit, several big containers of koolaid, everclear, and a garden hose. Everyone was wasted and we still had to pour out over half down the sewer drain the day. Worth it.
