I might not have the best eyesight, but where is number six?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 days ago
Sadly number 6 hasn’t been sighted for a while. I think they’ve either been adopted or run off elsewhere.

I’ve locked in an open mic for mid august. I’m putting this here if anyone has time and wants to have a listen:

Sunday night practice with some mistakes and some fucking around for 1 song.

Hands are so tricky! Well done
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Woah! That looks cool 😎
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Nice job!
Hands are hard to draw.
calhoon2005@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Thanks. I actually find them tricky but waaaay easier than faces.

Broke a front tooth :(
It’s mostly made of composite material which means hopefully they’ll be able to rebuild it which has been the case in the past.
Not a great look though, makes me feel a bit self conscious.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Oh bugger.
I remember as a kid I fell off a skateboard and faceplanted and lost a bit of a front tooth. All the kids at school laughed at me :(
Surprisingly whatever the dentist did the composite stuff is still there 25 yrs on.
This calls for a rave choon
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 days ago
I’ve got a half front tooth as well, I hadn’t realised it was so trendy! Mine’s been there 31 years now, I guess the front tooth doesn’t get much wear to damage it.

My husband’s watching Jurassic Park and whenever I see dinosaurs it reminds me of YL’s very intelligent mad loving dinosaur friend. So his fixation is of course dinosaurs and that’s how he would start a conversation with you (diagnosed autistic later on).
One day he said something like some sort of dinosaur fact to a teacher and the moll replied “Dinosaurs aren’t real you know”.
10 years on and we still laugh about it.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 days ago
That teacher needs their degree cancelled. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a classroom.

True

Following the discussion yesterday on gendered toys, I just remembered how I used to play schools. The school had its own name and leadership structure. I had a relative who used to sew toys out of felt and sell them, and so I was given quite a few of those. I managed to make a class full of toys and each of them had an exercise book to do their work in that I would mark. I even did school photos with my shitty tablet at the time. The ‘naughty’ kids would be sent under my bed for a time out sort of thing.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 days ago
I have a lot of great memories watching my daughter and her dad playing school with all her toys.
One very memorable one was when the dog would walk through the classroom roughing up the students. My daughter announces “kids this is Toby. Our new special needs student. Say hello”. Me leaving the room to giggle.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Sounds like your daughter has inherited your wit!

Family lunch was nice. Just nan and opa, dad, uncle, and my aunt and her partner. It was super nice a chill.
Very pleased to hear Opa lose his shit over the ICE raids in the USA.

I’ve never made cornbread, I think I’ll give it a go.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Yum!
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Thanks ! How did your creation turn out?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 days ago
I mis-timed the dog walk badly and we both ended up quite soggy. Mr Woof got the wet dog zoomies, hurtling up and down the hallway using Miss Meow as a hurdle.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 days ago
tonight I am cooking a large cottage pie, which I hope will last a few days
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 3 days ago
You have inspired me. Cottage pie really slaps in this weather. And I have the makings.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Yes! A big cook for multiple meals is the thing.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Yummmm, cottage pie is so good! Enjoy!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 days ago
up early, had coffee, had another allergic reaction to the milk, strong lip tingling and I could feel throat irritation and I coughed a bit , went back to sleep later
it’s time to start black coffee 🥺
Duenan@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Oh damn. I could never drink black coffee.
Is there a milk alternative that you could use like almond milk?
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Finally managed to get the cat window beds to stick. They are being ignored.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 days ago
of course!!
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 days ago
The only thing that can compete with the window bed for Miss Meow’s attention is my lap with a heated throw rug. When I first put it up she didn’t use it though, I eventually figured out she wasn’t confident with the path to climb up to it as it involved an initial jump up she didn’t like. I got her some pet steps to make it easier and she’s up on the bed half the day now.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 days ago
We had an oops where one fell down. Startled kitty is justifiably cautious.

Nonstop napping. Getting up only to tend to Melbcat or do something essential.
I had the sleeping habits of a bat but now they’re the habits of a sloth.

Everyone knows 99 Luftballons, but have you heard this banger by Nena?
calhoon2005@aussie.zone 3 days ago
I highly highly highly rate this album…
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 days ago
Hmm… the vegan ‘cream cheese’ is made but because of some shortcomings and substitutions on my end it’s not very good.
It’s edible but grainy, beany tasting and too salty. And there’s way too much of it.
Next time I’ll make sure there’s enough vinegar in there for the taste and to provide enough liquid to blend smoother, crumble and rinse the pressed tofu to remove that beany taste (I intended to but forgot), either not sub Nuttelex in or reduce the salt, and get something more powerful than my little stick blender.
It was also in there a couple of days before being used so the finished product won’t last as long.

I want to thank everyone for the insightful, thoughtful and very personal responses that were shared to my comment yesterday evening. Reading through that thread again this morning I’m deeply touched, and once again so happy to be part of a group of people who are so sharing of their knowledge and experience. Thankyou very, very much 🥹

What I found fascinating was the amount of ladies on here that didn’t necessarily fit into the mould of girls girl shit. My people. Girl power.

I can’t comment from a parent perspective, but have a friend who is proud to claim what they call a’full set’ a cis child, a trans one, and an enby. From knowing many people with interesting gender stories the earlier the better, ultimately it’s not about you. Hugs.
Duenan@aussie.zone 3 days ago
It might take some time. I’m sorry I didn’t get around to saying something about it.
It also takes a bit of confidence and not have an idea stuck in your head that it has to be that way.
I hope your little one will realise that she can be herself one day without worrying about other people.
