Rough night sleep as you might imagine. I’m really torn between cooking up a whole lasagna and casserole and dropping it over and recognise that I’m just trying to do something to deal with how I feel and that’s kinda fuckin rude. They’ll have family and shit around all the time anyway.

My go to for these situations is to drop off toilet paper, tissues and some basics like tea, coffee and long life milk. Grief makes it hard to keep track of the basics and you also have lots of people visiting you, so those are the sorts of things you most want. Food can cause more problems, because you have to find somewhere in the fridge for it etc.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 6 days ago
If it’s just happened, I’d say leave them be. When it’s settled maybe look at mowing the lawns, or taking the kids for a bit.
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Apparently it happened Monday but yeah thinking we might leave it a few days before we reach out, let them know if there’s anything they need.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Your heart is in right place man. Give them a couple of days to get over the shock then you can extend your condolences and assist where you can.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’m sorry. I’m at a loss, the tp and milk idea is a good one though.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’m sorry mate. If it’s any help, I’ve always found in the days and first couple of weeks after someone passes away there are heaps of people coming around and offering help in various ways. Then people seem to go back to their own lives and you’re truly left with the aftermath. This is when I begin to offer help with something, which is sometimes when they really need it and also when my own emotions are less raw.

I had a bad dream that I accidentally put diesel in my car.
It was nightmare fuel

I had a dream the other night that I was at a swimming carnival and everyone was wearing shoes, even in the water, so I took mine off and when I went to get them after my swim they had been stolen.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 6 days ago
My dream was about vomiting I think? So weird. Maybe I need to purge things from my life.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 days ago
i dreamed I hugged and hugged and hugged a friend, they really needed it
TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 days ago
As the owner of both a petrol and diesel cars I live in fear of this.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 days ago
The party was a hit. Everyone went home feeling good about themselves. Most have shit parents. No young person deserves to be a disappointment to their parents for their sexual or gender orientation. They’re just people. Bring in the hugs. I don’t care. My home is always welcome.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Sounds like a huge success :)
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Great to hear it went well :) Sounds like some heavy conversations were had though!
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I wasn’t there to hear all the conversations. I already knew a lot. It’s sad to know some parents are neglectful or abusive. I thought gen x were better than that.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Some fuckwits offleash jack Russell chased the strays away as they were eating.
Then the fucking moron couldn’t get him back for a while. I saw the 2 orange parents come back but not the 2 kittens or the other two.
They did have a head start on him. Just worries me.

Over in Maffra now, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a house bigger than this. My aunt has definitely worked her butt off for this amazing house!
Now her partner just has to sell his place in the city and it’ll be done! So proud of them!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 days ago
🙂
I love you have good family too ( cos I know you’ve had it rough ) AND they are lucky to have you. 😘
StudChud@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’m so so grateful for my dad and his side of the family - they’ve always been the people who have encouraged me and loved me for me. Supportive of my interests. Much of the uncertainty I feel about them, is just my own trauma - I fit in so well with my family it’s hard not to see we’re all related. 💜💜

I had to venture out but now I am resnuggled and listening to the rain. Bliss

I haven’t even finished unpacking
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I have been unmotivated for packing, but I did get motivated to finish a sewing project I’ve been planning for ages. A work jacket which I removed the logo from has now had an embroidered tree sewn in its place to cover the damage from removing the stitching. Now I have another jacket I can wear over winter.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 days ago
i’ve been buying patches too, to liven up and individualise boring winter clothes
bright winter themes 🙂🦊
dumblederp@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’ve been topping off my aliexpress orders with sew on patches to get the free postage. I’ve got a few to add to my winter jacket. Progress flag, The Exploited, Electricity will kill You and the Nerv Logo from Evangelion.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Good option. My go to cheap item has generally been decals.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Link for the evangelion patch?

When boyo suggests a glass of wine at 3:30 “you know this will lead to me singing musical theatre, yeah?” “Mmhm!”

Some pickles and olives with the cheese?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 days ago
The kids are inside doing the same thing. They have a microphone to make it extra theatrical.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Managed to break the cold tap in the shower whilst in there. That’s 3 different showers in 3 weeks lol. Managed to fix this one but the other 2 remain borked.
Split second panic thinking ‘ooh if that starts throwing out a jet’. Scared the crap outta me.
Water things and I continue our little spat.

Brisket Benedict. I had to take out about half of the brisket to eat seperately because there was so much 🤤 Image

Unhinge your jaw snd power on
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I actually can casually unhinge my jaw…
If I could I’d swallow that whole and lie there digesting for days like a snake 🐍
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 6 days ago
That looks so good. I haven’t had a hearty, indulgent Benedict in a while

Sleeping in Oodie and fluffy pyjamas, checking in
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I bought my kids cheap ones with matching pants from QVM (it was all I could afford at the time) and they’ve held up magnificently. Elder wears his heaps, Miniest not so much. Hers is so large that I’m tempted to wear it as a normal sized hoodie 🤣
StudChud@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I have an oodie that my partner’s mum bought me. It has some stains and cigarette burns on it, but I wouldn’t give it up under any circumstance.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I wore my old oodie pretty much 6 months every day for a few years. It got holes from wear!
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’m cheating on my usual cafe with the new place across the road.
In my defence, the lady making coffee this morning gave me a half decaf half normal when I asked for a decaf and it fucked me up all day lol
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’ve had a nap now so I hopefully won’t need one later. I thought I was at the getting better stage but I think I’m getting worse
just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I should be working on my thesis but man, 3 days straight of hard work on it has fried my brain a little. Instead I’m watching really fascinating videos about linguistics by Dr Geoff Lindsay so I can still feel smart…
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 6 days ago
3 days straight of hard work is a feat! Take a little break hehe
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Time to get up. What a nuisance. But the rain will be here in an hour or so, so I’d better get cracking.

TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Ahh Eurovision. Reminding me I suck at geography for another year. I know this country though.

Why is my bed time policed by a ball of fluff that weighs less thank 5kg?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Haircut and beard trim down. Feel much better. Now I need to find a moment where it’s not raining to feed the strays.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I’ve been low on motivation today, so I’ve been shopping online again. I managed to resist the temptation to buy wall decals to turn the laundry into a rainforest, but I did get some plant decals for Miss Meow’s garden corner. And I got a decal of a window looking out over a garden, in the hopes that the tiny toilet with no window in it will feel less closed in that way. I also got a couple to go on the back of the van to help it stand out a bit in a sea of white vehicles.
A few more things arrived today too - the plate stands work really well, I ended up buying a couple more so I can use them for cutting boards, pot lids and anything else that I can find to stand up. I also have a couple more draw organiser things for the kitchen drawers so I can try and keep them somewhat under control. I’m still waiting for my new rubbish bin and a set of shelves to go over the toilet.

Trying to coax Moobeans to eat her breakfast… her appetite is very good, she just doesn’t want to take the medicine in it.
I’d stop trying to mix it in but I’m trying to reduce the amount of forcing her to take it. Especially if I’m going to start trying to clean her teeth again. Trying to keep her stress low.
Catfish@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Have now scraped off the mysterious wordless sticker the door guys rudely applied to the house. Conspiracy theories abound.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 days ago
I need something to stop me hitting the garage wall while still getting as close as possible. Wheel stops need to be bolted down so that won’t work. I’m thinking something like a pool noodle bollard. Does such a thing exist? Or do I need to get two pool noodles and a couple of christmas tree stands or similar? 🤔
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Mmmm love being warm inside when it’s freezing and raining outside.
Goodnight all ❤️
