Had ‘his’ first mate over. Vomit before 9. Yeah, cheers thanks a lot.

Today is a feast day so to honour my culture , my past, the Seagoons and myself I am cooking a feast of luscious cheeses and crackers, good drinks, a salad, and chicken cooked with nutmeg , parsley and parmesan cheese in a tomato sauce served with egg fettucini. Peaches and apricots for desert.
I am just about to put my make up on. 🙂
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
To honour my forbears, I am ordering a HSP from uber eats. And maybe some baclava if I’m feeling special.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
yum 🙂
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 hours ago
Enjoy your celebrations!! That all sounds amazing!
dumblederp@aussie.zone 7 hours ago
I’m drinking a Japanese slipper, which is green, so kind of honouring my Irish roots.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 7 hours ago
Today is a feast to honour my culture, or lack thereof. The four bears will be regarded with great respect with cooking various meats on an open fire. The side dishes are not my problem haha .
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 hours ago
Espresso Martini time, woooooo!! Home made, possibly a little too strong, bring it on!
bacon@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
wait it is risen not rinse?
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
Full immersion baptism is a thing. Mostly for adults converting. Refer St John the Baptist. Rinse is the same only different. Refer vegetables and washing machines. Then there’s the tricky question of the mikveh.
bacon@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
Well, we won’t tell them about the process. They should be quite happy about the result!

One thing I love about country’s towns is how people still dress up for lunch. Young lasses in their new dresses, mum and dad all ironed, trailed by awkward boys in their collard shirt and best shorts. It’s nice
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 hours ago
I miss living in the country.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 6 hours ago
Although…swings and roundabouts…there was also the casual racism overhead at the CWA shop 🤦🏻♀️. I don’t regret moving to the city but I have realised recently do need to get out from under it regularly. Mainly for the wildlife and nightsky.

Has anyone here done adult swimming lessons?
I took lessons from about age 3 to 13, but that was a long time ago, and I was stuck on the same level for about three years, never really progressing. The last time I went swimming in the ocean, I found it really difficult to keep myself afloat beyond just floating on my back, which is not conducive to activities like snorkelling.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 hours ago
young Mr Seagoon is a licensed swimming instructor for kids and adults
I could ask him a question if you like.
he’s a good teacher too, kind and patient

I planned a friend outing for this evening and honestly I don’t know why I bother. I’ve been getting slow responses during planning, slower than usual, feels like I’m forcing these people to hang out with me. They can say no? Maybe I’m reading too much into this but it’s consistent with other things that have happened which make it feel like we’re distancing. Don’t say I didn’t try if these friends aren’t in my life in future. I don’t even want to go anymore.

I thought to just download my files onto my computer, back them up and unlink my pc so it couldn’t fill that storage back up again. Well downloading my stuff isn’t working. The zip files only contain error .txt.
I’m also now being told I can’t send or receive emails because I’m over storage and have to pay for more - recurring subscription of course.
It’s so very convenient that they force your files onto their cloud and then make the process of getting them back obstructive. Really predatory.
I may end up having to pay to get to the task later but this is making me seriously consider whether I could make a go of Linux. (The only reason I don’t is because I’m not confident of being able to reliably make everything work.)
SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 hour ago
Not sure what your arrangement is, but in windows with one drive, in explorer you can select the files and folders you want, right click, and select ‘always keep on this device”. This means you have a local copy in addition to the onedrive copy.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 41 minutes ago
Thanks, I’ll give that a go
kudra@aus.social 5 hours ago
@melbaboutown @YarraByte in the process of DeGoogling and it's similar. Though so far I'm only partway through Photos. It was always the intention to bait and switch and capture financially once the difficulty of leaving became extreme. I was always aware of Facebook which seemed blatant to me: Google and M$ actually more subtle.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
Oh man… I want to de google but I’m absolutely drowning at the moment and barely managing life admin let alone a task like that.
I still have to go through my Facebook to make sure I get everything before I deactivate or delete with the under 16 ban (because I’m not giving Meta or other platforms my id). And because the download doesn’t work I have to do it manually.
My respect goes out to people who are able to stay on top of all this
Duenan@aussie.zone 5 hours ago
What was the size of the zip file that you downloaded?
Try downloading a smaller directory or file and see if you can open it.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 hours ago
I made repeated attempts so - 69kb, then 1.2kb. Probably too large.
Some other guy was complaining about this so I began manually downloading - and then saw that I could ctrl-a and copy the contents of the OneDrive folder to paste it into a new folder. Once I think I have everything I’m unlinking.

today at the beach I found a little fish, two pieces of coral and an ear shell
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
Is the inside of the abalone all shiny and nacreous? I love them when they’re fresh enough to have all the lovely bluey-greeny-pinky nacre intact.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
yup , that’s one of the reasons I love ear shells
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
Oh man, I unleashed on the broom rider (MIL) last night. An awkward start to the long weekend.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
So many people don’t stand up to their MILs/FILs. As a kid, my mum always used to complain to my sister and I about things her MIL would say or do, and my dad would either stick up for his mum, or pretend that nothing was wrong.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
Thank you. It was something I really needed to get off my chest. Maybe not the best time to do that during a family gathering though.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 13 hours ago

Shouldn’t laugh but lol. Seems like easter is just one of those times of the year that gets tense for some reason.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
so many hugs, she must have pushed you beyond endurance
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 12 hours ago
Sometimes people need to realise that they’re being dicks.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Met the new neighbours who are moving in soon. 4 cars and 12 people got out lol. Guessing they’ll be loud going by them leaving their music blaring from their cars as they were parked and yelling over it to talk to each other. It’s a very quiet court.
I don’t mind at all as my little studio down here can go LOUDER I hope they like poorly made drum and bass.
They seem nice though and it’s good to see the place finally getting used after 6 months vacant.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Crank the subbie lol
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 10 hours ago
I have decided once the lease on the new place is signed I am going to celebrate by buying a new lawn edger, hedge trimmer and the fancy brushless motor for my whipper snipper. I aim to make the garden so neat people assume it’s no longer a rental 😁 It also means I’ll be able to properly edge my 3m of nature strip here as a parting gift. Hopefully because the edger rests on the ground it won’t kill my arms as much as the whipper snipper does. With a much bigger garden to look after (and a 2-strip of concrete driveway, so lots of edges) I anticipate building up lots of muscle. 💪

Biblically speaking, today’s the day they all ate chocolate bunnies right?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Real bunnies today, chocolate ones tomorrow.
TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Pest species. Nature’s way of keeping the rabbit plague under control the delicious way.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Father, why hast thou eaten all the chocolate bunnies? or something like that
bacon@aussie.zone 11 hours ago
Yes they were sad Jesus died so they ate chocolate to cheer themselves up

I’ve had to part ways with my legend of a barber-to-the-stars after his (very justified) price increases. I’m not on consultancy salary anymore.
Not every 'do at Just Cuts has been a winner, but each time I end up with something slightly different and it’s kinda fun getting a different take on a bog-standard men’s haircut. This month’s is nicely textured and sits really well on my head straight out of the shower.
Also these eggs from Aldi are so good, what a Reese’s peanut butter cup would taste like if it was made with good chocolate and peanut butter.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
How much is he charging now?
Pilk@aussie.zone 9 hours ago
Up to $55 now, not at all unreasonable, but just a little too much to justify a short style on a pension.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Letting myself just relax and have some fun today.
I have this whole issue with hyper independence, where I don’t let myself relax.

After having it recommended constantly for years, I’m finally reading Lonesome Dove. I do believe it lives up to the hype…

Been binging Severance over the past few days.
I love it, but what in the ever living fuck is happening.

Halfway through Animal Kingdom S2 so far. Idk, it’s not terrible by far but it’s not really gripping my attention much either, I fast forward through all the alpha male stuff. I like Shawn Hatosy though and everyone says he does great in all 5 seasons so I guess I’ll keep going
just_kitten@aussie.zone 14 hours ago
Good morning, in further public holiday brainrot developments I went down the path of reading about Zizians (already vaguely knew about rationalism and MIRI and that insanity). The intelligent mind truly can go to some insane places. What the fuck is this shit
dumblederp@aussie.zone 13 hours ago
Been gardening and listening to this well made Alien^TM audio book.

I’m picking up an armchair for free from Marketplace this morning. Similar style wood frame to my couch, and with a new cover with the same fabric I’ve been recovering mine in it should blend in fairly well. This will solve an issue in furniture placement in the new place, I will be able to have the couch and a single chair in the dining/lounge, and two chairs in the sewing/sitting room. Or if something goes wrong and I don’t end up getting this place I’ll have an extra chair I don’t have room for 🤣
I think I’ll sell my buffet unit. It’s a really good solid piece of furniture that makes me feel like I should find it a place, but it really doesn’t fit anywhere. Plus it is really heavy and because it is so long has limited options on where in a house it can go. Which makes it hard to get out too, it has to go out the back and out the side gate, which means I would have to lock away Mr Woof, traumatise Miss Meow and let a stranger into the main area of my house. I might just get the movers to put it in the carport when I move, then I can sell it as unattended pickup.

Have been crashing fairly early the last 2 nights despite being able to stay up late.
