Well this isn’t an hour I’m supposed to be up
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Same. Pain woke me up, I dreamed my legs were being chewed by a dinosaur.
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I remember my dream for once: I was a student in some weird school, where you had to behave extremely well, were monitored constantly. When it was home time, it was extremely difficult to actually leave the school. Some exits turned into (almost) never ending puzzles… Like a staircase to the front door of the school never got to the front door somehow. Eventually you could get out, but it was A LOT harder to get out if you had misbehaved that day. Very frustrating

I have cricked my neck and dreamt about drowning soccer players. Weird day for it. 🦖

I bought a litre of fresh orange juice at the Mildura farmers market yesterday. I took a swig before realising that was probably a bad idea since it still needed to spend about 8 hours in my bag. I think it’s meant to be refrigerated, and it definitely wouldn’t have been treated. But I’m already sick so I’m going to drink it and just hope it doesn’t make me worse. It tastes a lot more acidic than supermarket stuff, so that might help it not kill me, I hope. It smells fine, anyway
I had a swig of it and a chorizo and cheese sandwich and I’m starting to feel better. I think now I need a nap though
wscholermann@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Given the cool temperatures outside and the acid in the juice it’s probably fine, although you wouldn’t make a habit of it.
dumblederp@aussie.zone 5 months ago
She’ll be right, it’s more likely to ferment a little than go off, see if it goes bubbly.

I have achieved nothing so far… Thought I had given myself enough of a rest but came back to the flat after a coffee and a little walk and my body override me and went back to sleep. Have finally managed to wake up. Got some black beans in the instant pot for meals this week. Microwavibg leftovers for lunch.
New plan. Just get the clothes away, a tidy reset and a sweep of the floors.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 months ago
That’s a good plan.

TV review. Law and Order: Criminal Intent. I’m rewatching this series.
Most of the series is a homage to Sherlock Holmes with D’Onofrio playing Holmes and Erbe playing Watson. Most episodes are greatly toned down for television, even tho many stories are based on true crimes the true horror of the crimes are not shown, not the scenes, not the act, not the suffering of families, not the toll on law enforcement. It is an entertaining who dunnit.
But every now L&O; CI shows some reality and it’s truly terrifying, disturbing.
Series 4 episode 17, Shibboleth, is based on a true crime made famous again in James Elroy’s book, The Black Dahlia. Being a huge Elroy fan I read the book when it first came out, disturbing, in his detailed descriptions we build a mental picture of what happened and the last moments of the victims.
I mention this episode for a few reasons. Yes, we can learn from true crime stories, learn what is possible and hopefully how to prevent ourselves and our loved ones from becoming victims.
But also it demonstrates the storytelling of crime shows, demonstrates that crime shows show the idea of violence, they don’t show real violence.
I had trouble watching this episode.

Thank you. Rest is driving me crazy. And I know it sounds weird but I’m learning a lot about telly .

Ok guys you really need to stop buying sauces. It’s considered hoarding when you have more than 6.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Lemme see - soy, hot chilli, mild sweet chilli, mustard, balsamic, mayo x 3 (garlic, plain and dijonnaise), tomato, hoisin, fish, oyster - nah, 6 is just getting started. Does sesame oil count as a sauce or as an ingredient?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I’ll see your hand and I’ll raise you some dashi, bbq sauce, 9 bottles of hot sauce and 3 different kinds of Kewpie.
Eagle@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Ummmm. 6 on each shelf, right?
LovesTha@floss.social 5 months ago
@CEOofmyhouse56 @Seagoon_ its only hoarding if they go off before being finished
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Really? Because I don’t look at dates. It’s finished when it’s finished.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 5 months ago
No! Sauces are the 6th food group in my house! Ok, I have a problem 😔
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 5 months ago
No deal
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 months ago
um, salad dressing, jalapeno salsa, sriracha, sweet chili sauce , home made tomato sauce for sausage rolls and meat pies, Vietnamese dipping sauce , pomegranate sour sauce
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 months ago
Is pomegranate sour sauce the same as pomegranate molasses?

Finally bought and played a bit of Robo Quest last night. It’s a fun little fps rougelike with some Doom Eternal influences.
I have this bad habit of wish listing games and never actually buying them so I’m glad I pulled the trigger on this one

Some hectic winds forecast for Tuesday morning. Does this mean we can make it an extra long weekend? I kinda wish I could wfh but given that I’ve just had a long holiday and need to be briefed on some site visits for Wednesday, possibly not. :c

I thought I was being smart and making the most of my long day out at the ‘Rat by filling up at 177c… Shoulda checked Petrol Spy, the reliable ol’ BP on Heidelberg Rd was still at 172! Oh well, shout out to the Sebastopol BP, they have shit ratings on Google but I’ve always only ever had the loveliest staff there, I’ll cop the $1.35 extra.

So the government has introduced some draft regulations on mandatory heating and cooling systems for rentals in addition to a few other things.
…gov.au/new-minimum-standards-for-rental-properti…
This raises some questions. So for example in some older apartment buildings the outdoor unit of the split system is usually mounted onto one side of the building. In some buildings there may not be enough space to mount so many units, and there’s also the question of structural integrity as well.
The regulations also say this must all be done by 30 October 2027. As it stands in this country we already have a massive shortage in trades and a backlog in getting work done. So you’ve got three years to get all of Vic sorted, which currently I think would be very difficult, and most probably have an inflationary effect as tradies jack up the prices.
As an owner (not a landlord) I remember having to wait a few months to get my a/c installed. Can’t imagine what it would be like in a rush to beat a deadline.
Of course people can sell, whether that would dampen property prices or crash them, it’s hard to say. But a depressed housing market may have broader consequences in terms of general consumer psychology and create recessionary pressures. It may also lead the landlords increasing rents.
In principal it’s a good idea, but I am concerned in practice there’s going to be lots of unintended side effects.

Apparently we could fund our house deposit with an OF channel dedicated to Boyo rubbing himself with bacon. While I consider him sizzling, not sure there is enough market for this.
bacon@aussie.zone 5 months ago
who am I rubbing now?
Catfish@aussie.zone 5 months ago
I believe the rubbing was the opposite, but my husband. I may be sleep deprived and should stay off the internet.
