đ Zooks decided because I woke up early yesterday that 3:30 is now wake up time and head-butted me awake.
Admittedly she woke me out of one of those annoying dreams, but still.Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Someone likes to run across my legs for no reason at about 4am.
Admittedly I was dreaming about being assassinated, so no harm done.
Cendana@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
A few days ago, our tortoiseshell alpha pretty much purred me awake at 4am, approximately 1 hour to wake up time for me to go pick up my wife. Yep, she just sat on her pillow and purred LOUDLY.
This morning at maybe 2am she parked herself on top of me, and groomed my hair for a good 10-20 minutes, the same way she grooms our fluffy one.

T minus 12 minutes to find out if the kid did a good job of dyeing my hair. Ok letâs face it I donât really care as long as itâs not patchy.
calhoon2005@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
I dyed my own hair (when I had hairâŚđł) once whilst camping in a national park, used a whole can of sun-in. I didnât go into town for about a week, and when I did, I legit did a spit-take when I saw my reflection in a shopfront window. On reflection, I didnât need the whole can.
ajsadauskas@aus.social â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
@calhoon2005 @CEOofmyhouse56 I bleached my hair in high school once. It turned out okay, but was a real pain to do.
How'd yours turn out?
bull@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Couldnât sleep so I took off from Albury at 5:30. Just got home when my alarm was due to go off.
I was fine until maybe 45 minutes out and my eyes started getting a little stingy but I pushed through and everything is a-o-k.
Actually pretty glad to have avoided the âcoming home from a long weekendâ Hume Hwy crowd. It was a quiet and good run.
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
I donât want to sound dramatic, but Iâm a man, and I have a cold. Now, we all know that means Iâm dying a slow, painful death.
No one has ever felt this bad in the history of humanity lol
Woe is me đ¤§

stop it, itâs scientifically proven that men actually do suffer more than women when they have respiratory illnesses, they feel worse and get physically sicker .
Take care. Rest. Have some meds and some lemon honey tea.

I had a premade beef stir fry. Not as much sauce and veg as I wouldâve done if I was making it myself, but it was nice for a quick and easy dinner
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Iâm back. Gotta love a full size mirror.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Iâve gotta go and buy a dress today. Looking on line and I discovered Iâm more picky about clothing than I am about food. I donât want black, prints, lace, too much polyester, bright colours. I donât want to look like a bridesmaid or someone who came from the set of The Handmaids Tale. I like jumpsuits but donât wanna get half naked just to have a piss.
I need something I can wear with my ankle boots because I donât wear scrappy shoes. And Iâm gonna need a handbag. Iâll probably come out with 3 handbags and no outfit. Pray for me.
The man needs a shirt and he doesnât give a shit what colour it is. Urgh.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
www.sheike.com.au/collections/dresses (for going I like the Tornado one , Impression, Camila. In winter wear a stole/wrap ) )
a lot of them are pretty day dresses
that brand is soooo cheap and looks really nice

@Seagoon_ @CEOofmyhouse56 @melbourne Did you end up finding one? If so, let's see đ
And if you're still deciding, any colours you like? What colour boots? Any styles you like?

Good night everyone. đ
ajsadauskas@aus.social â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
@Seagoon_ Ugh. It's Monday tomorrow. Why do weekends have to be so short? đ
There's a huge workload to get through, and I'm stressing about it already.
On the upside, I'm taking Thursday and Friday off.
And there's a concert that wifey and I are going to on Tuesday night đ
I gave her the tickets for Valentine's Day. I haven't been to a concert since the pandemic.
Also, I have a song by HER stuck in my head: https://youtu.be/_iKxR-daLCo?si=X7mcQHhCZHoN2UWn

I've been posting from Mastodon to Aussie Zone, rather than directly on the site, which is why the extra @ are there. (Hopefully it still all works without them!)

Marches and protests without a specific, achievable demand.
End violence against women. I agree and think itâs a good a idea but taking to the streets probably isnât going to convince wife bashers. Itâs also such a general demand doesnât point any specific government policy response. And I noticed that Jacinta Allen was in the crowd anyway soâŚ
Similar to Palestine protests in Australia. Israel and the American government which essentially props up their military do not give a fuck. Protesting in Australia does nothing.
A protest that works is something that is a specific demand where whatâs required is clear. For example Vietnam War protests that demanded the end of Australiaâs involved. Itâs clear what is required and obvious as to how to achieve it.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Itâs the real life version of updating your Facebook profile picture. Itâs about being seen to care and being part of a group. I think it also probably helps people feel like they are doing something when they feel powerless and donât know what to do, but that doesnât make it effective.
Part of the problem is that a lot of people feel disenfranchised from government, so they donât believe actions like writing to their local MP will do anything.
Combined with that we have been putting more and more power in the hands of private companies and telling people to exercise political power by choosing what products to buy and from who. So instead of being able to lobby governments to introduce stronger standards on the mediaâs depiction of women (as an example) we have media outlets âself-regulatingâ and are told if we want things to change to just stop watching things we donât like.
We have a great system of government where every person gets to have some input into who makes the decisions and rules over us, and as a society we have done everything we can to negate that by taking as much power as we can away from government (which in its own flawed way is goverment by the people) and instead giving power to corporations. All supported by a pretence that âconsumer powerâ and being able to pick which brand we buy (out of a selection that are mostly made by the same company anyway) is somehow giving individuals more power.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Itâs strange. The way we handle serious issues has really changed the past twenty years. Loss of tolerance, loss of compromise, loss of action.
No discussing an issue. No compromises. No solutions asked for or sought. No running for elections or interacting with politics in a real sense. Telling people what to say and think, or else.
just_kitten@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Nup, today was not as good as yesterday. Bad sleep, got some shit done but starting to feel some kind of second wave of Bleah coming on. Just like the last time I got covid⌠Iâll do a test tonight (although a negative doesnât mean it isnât something else).
Swear to god Iâll cry if I feel sick tomorrow morning. I will not go in sick but it suuuucks to miss another day of pay (doubt theyâd let me take my first day off on sick leave)
Nice things for today though:
positivity!!!1 â¨
* GLORIOUS sun * scored a $2 bacopa at Bunnings * stocked up on Bonsoy at $3.90 this week * cheap fennel bulbs đ * found my beetroot seeds * my new daily planner is here!!! Designed for scattered minds - undated, has a âmost important thingsâ sublist, and a âbrain dumpâ page every 7 days for planning out the week. Canât wait to use this on Monday!
Time to do gardening pt 2 real quick now that the sun is off my plants, then get into the kitchen. Think I can only make the arroz verde and then Iâm done.
Baku@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Huh. That first paragraph basically sums up my day too, minus the COVID bit. I had a decent sleep but woke up after a very bad dream, did some vacuuming and general housework, etc, but yesterday I went for a walk and got fish and chips and some vitamin D so today was a downgrade. And I woke up ever so slightly sickly, nothing major, but tomorrow Iâll either be completely fine or Iâll be really sick
Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Had some friends come over. Because of where I live it doesnât happen as often as Iâd like, but itâs really nice to have some more humans to talk to lol

More cleaning today, job made way harder by biodegradable bags exploding into a billion pieces of confetti and getting on everything and breaking down at a touch when picking them up.
Looking forward to some chicken that I seasoned last night and let sit in the fridge overnight, going to see if that makes a difference in flavour.
Anyway more spaces cleaned up for the moment, will resume tomorrow and hopefully I can start to move some furniture around pending vacuuming of stupid left over bag confetti.
Catfish@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Box icream sandwich review: Fuck these are too sweet! No presentation points for me.
Nothing much to say about the biscuit bit. Maybe use the half frozen log trick for a neater result? The icecream part makes way more than necessary and the chips tend to skink. Not awful but even Boyo thinks the sugar is excessive. Coat in 80% bitter for crunch & flavour correction?
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Thank you for your sacrifice
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
they look delicious, I might add some chocolate ripple biscuits
would definitely eat
turn the freezer colder and it will taste less sweet
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Good job đ nice review. These things feel so wrong, uncanny like. Definitely worth a crack though. How much did it cost?
Catfish@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
About a fiver. Youâll also need 1 egg, a smidge of butter, and a mug of milk. I now need to find a use for the other hall of this milk because apparently the tiny cartons donât exist anymore.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Did I ever tell you how much I dislike cleaning barbecue gas ports? Should be a Jimâs franchise for this shit.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
There are BBQ cleaning services available that will do a thorough clean of the whole BBQ for you.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Cool thanks . Iâll put that on speed dial for next time.

Incredibly sweet, but delicious.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Interesting. Thereâs a place on Lygon street that does similar. Beku Gelati. I should try a different flavour every week.

I was just reading that the cost of a passport is going up about $50 on 1 July, so anyone planning on getting a passport soon would be advised to do it before then.

oztrin@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I STARTED SMELLING THAT SMELL AND CHECKED AND THERE WAS A DEAD RAT UNDER MY BED UGGGHHH
God knows when it got there but a) I only just started smelling That Smell an hour back (and I crashed for a couple of hours this afternoon) and b) Iâm pretty sure it wasnât there yesterday because I hauled the old suitcase out from under the other side of the bed to take to the op shop. But ugggghhhhhh.

I just hope the smell hasnât got into the mattress or the bed. Ugggh.
dumblederp@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago

Still better than a live rat I guess?
ajsadauskas@aus.social â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Aaaaargh! đą
I hope you're okay?
Many years ago, I lived in Ferntree Gully.
Beautiful suburb, lots of birds and other wildlife. Very peaceful.
But one night, I was fast asleep, when I was awakened by a rustling and scratching sound in the wardrobe.
I turned the light on, opened the wardrobe door.
AND OUT RUNS A MOUSE!!!
I jumped up on the bed and SCREAMED!
The mouse ran straight out the door as fast as it could.
I'm not sure who was more frightened â me or the mouse!
Anyway, next day I went to Bunnings and got a caulking gun and sealed up the spot where I *think* it got in.
Big cleanup in the kitchen and the back yard too.
That was the last I saw of it.
oztrin@aussie.zone â¨7⊠â¨months⊠ago
Just stopped shaking⌠I had to deal with one just before Christmas, though, so maybe that took the edge off?
What worries me is when it got in and how long itâd been there - as I said, Iâm pretty sure it wasnât there yesterday and I only just started smelling That Smell, on the other hand it was stuck to the carpet and matted underneath, so⌠uggh.
Problem is, the foundations have sagged so thereâs a lot of places it could have got in (part of the reason Iâve sold the house). I just hope thatâs the last one I have to deal with before settlement day. >.<
