Morning dog walk bonus from crime suburb - about $50 in loose change in two till drawers smashed up at the back of the car park. I guess the thieves couldn’t see the change or didn’t care for it, kids these days.

Thought I was going to sleep in the loungeroom tonight, but can’t get comfortable enough on the cheapie couch/futon I bought as a stopgap.
Instead I’ve crawled onto bed with the little fan and a couple of the other windows open for extra air.

I had to transfer to my bed last night after a fitful night on the cheap sofabed, but I’m back in the lounge tonight because it’s still too warm in my bedroom, and I washed all the sheets today and can’t be stuffed putting new ones on. I’m indulging in 23C, and I’ve had a shower, so I hope I’ll sleep better.

Argh, every time I switch tabs to a different app on the iPad, Mlem crashes (and eats my half-written comment). I just realised I have to put in for leave again for Uni… Oops, I feel bad but I can’t opt out of this intensive.
Managed to get some chores done, but hoooly hell $30+ for dry cleaning a trench coat? Maybe I’m out of touch, but hey it did such an amazing job while I was away.
I’m also onto the Australian version of Alone… Yeah, so far meh…
I have also migrated back to the bedroom, thank you blessed cool!

Lounge-gang represent. Today I weirdly slept the majority of day away (I thought I was dozing, LOL trick’s on me).
Was about to fall asleep a couple of hours ago and then heard a weird plastic snap noise. Then had a bad dream and then plastic noise again… Now part of the can’t sleep gang. So glad I’m not back at work yet, this would be a bad day.
Think I’ll watch some more Swedish Death Cleaning on SBS.

My gym visiting times have been random while on break. It’s funny to see the different crowds at different times. The crowd between 3:30pm to 4:30pm is heavily teenagers in school uniform. Right now I could be in a school gym. At their age visiting the gym was the last thing I would be doing after school. I reckon this is the impact of social media.

I just looked at the fuel app and a few stations have gone up to 231c. I went straight out and topped up the tank while my local station was still a more sensible price.

Has anyone ever had to deal with drain flies? Couple of months ago I had my sewer drain unblocked from a tree root growing in it. Ever since then I’ve had issues. First, my bathroom stunk on sewerage for weeks. It was quite unpleasant but dealt with it. Now every time I go in the bathroom I’m seeing a couple of these moths or flies in there and I swear they are coming in from the plumbing. There’s no other way so many of these bugs could be getting in. I keep killing but more keep getting in.

Get some cloudy ammonia from the supermarket, pour some down your drains, block with plugs. It stinks but will get rid of smells and bugs.
Or you can use bleach but NEVER TOGETHER.

Yeah fruit flies breed in the drain and are attracted to moisture/rotting stuff. I’ve noticed a few lately.
I used to deal with it by shaking dry baking soda into the drains, leaving it overnight to eat away at any smells/goop/small blockages, then carefully pouring a kettle of boiling water down after it.
Also you can make a homemade trap. Put some diluted apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap in an empty plastic water bottle. They fly in attracted by the fermented apple smell of the apple cider vinegar and can’t quite find their way out of the bottleneck, then when they fall down into the liquid the lack of surface tension from dish soap causes them to drown.

Airfryer possum and iced coffee please. I’ve just discovered that the little paw prints on the top of the airfryer are NOT from Dexter the neighbour’s cat, but from a young ringtail possum invading my kitchen. Sprung it when I went for some water and there it was, bold as brass, sitting on the airfryer.

Laughing at this IPA report saying Victoria has the most expensive energy, with WA being the cheapest.
Don’t they look at the stats. Cheapest wholesale electricity energy prices in the past two years. Meanwhile WA is in a generation crisis.

When I used to work with Horizon Power, the price per kilowatt was less than VIC (I had worked for TruEnergy, EnergyAus, SPAusnet, and Alinta prior), but the supply charge was massive comparatively. At the time, (2014 -2019) it was still cheaper than VIC. I still chuckle at the Port and South Hedland folks cracking the shits and saying they’ll switch provider, despite us being the sole provider haha
I have no idea what it has been like since I left late 2019, but this is unsurprising to me. Horizon Power was in a $2mil debt when I left, iirc. I wouldnt be surprised if they’re more exxy now, trying to be somewhat even or profitable.
I have no opinion on Synergy, never worked with them.
Note: Horizon Power serves Rural WA, except Kalgoorli, Perth, and Down South. We serviced Esperance tho, old retired twats down there.

Thankfully this was way cheaper than a new phone, and done in a halfer. The guy did try to claim $15 over the website listed price and got a hairy eyeball about it.
