exactly also don’t vote for the DSA as even in a deep blue states they can barely win because they’re vacuous populists

Yeah, we’ll just keep voting for the same thing we’ve been voting for 20 years now. Maybe this time it’ll be different.

Yeah, vote for the people working for the oligarchs instead. They’re much better!

Can everyday Americans please hurry up and connect the dots finally?

Everyday Americans are amongst the stupidest people I’ve ever met. Don’t hold your breath.

While I won’t argue against the ignorance of the 50th percentile, I’d encourage you to consider that for many it may not be willful.

By design, more and more people are forced to focus on their immediate needs. As more Americans than ever before live paycheck to paycheck with hardly a thousand dollars in savings, how can they justify spending time learning when they need to be at their second job so their kids don’t go homeless?

If you write people off as stupid then the problem is intractable. You can’t cure stupid. But you can inform the ignorant.

Who exactly do you think is voting for people like El-Sayed? What kind of take even is this?

My point could have been clearer.

I was talking about figuring out that billionaires are the actual enemy, everywhere… it makes it pretty easy to figure out who’s really on your side once you understand how capitalism actually works.

It doesn’t matter who, it doesn’t matter where. If there’s a billionaire, there’s a crime against the common man being committed. Period.

You have one candidate who says they refuse to take corporate money because they’re here to serve the people and another candidate who says how is such a shame how the political system works and it should be changed but in the meantime that’s the system and they’ll take the corporate money while telling you to not get your hopes up about changing how the system works.

And somehow this is a close race…

Clearly there are a lot of dots for a significant portion of Americans to connect.

Pro tip: if he had hypothetically won the primary you should still vote for him because the Republican candidate is still worse.

    unofficially withdrew

What does that mean? How would that even work? They just said “I quit” without doing any paperwork?

You don’t “accept” Super PAC money.

    • tacosanonymous@mander.xyz ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

      Explain, please.

      source
      • zergtoshi@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨days⁩ ago

Not OP, but I read it as “accepting” that kind of money equals getting bought with it and by the people who put the money in the PAC.

News like this makes me hopeful that one day, my area will be able to vote out its republican congressman. It doesn’t look like it will be this time, but hopefully soon.
