Working in the US, I was salaried and they absolutely fucked employees from both ends on the deal. We weren’t paid hourly yet were expected to work a minimum number of hours, then were expected to work more hours without compensation as needed, and it was needed often. Every salaried employee I have met without interest in securing a promotion put in the absolute minimum amount of time and effort possible.

I worked as a consultant for years and yeah, exactly this, and more! One thing knowledge-based consultants do is reuse old work but bill clients for a flat rate instead of hourly. It’s less than paying for new work, but usually much more than the hourly cost if they were billed for just the time required to update the material.
I recycled old work constantly. For a well-paying, reasonable client, I’d often only bill for the time required to update the work and comp the rest. Last minute, minor updates were free within reason. Penny pinching, uncooperative clients got paid full price and I’d bill the rush rate to the minute for last minute updates. On average, great clients paid less than the ones trying to strangle a deal out of me.

I unfortunately drove Uber for a bit back in the late 2010s until I got tired of being sexually harassed. Drivers do get paid the cleaning fee, but the rideshare services were becoming increasingly stringent about paying it. The issue was threefold.
People would soil vehicles then dispute the cleaning charges with their credit card, so Uber would be out whatever was paid to the driver. Last I knew, this was a maximum of $225, but capped at $80 if the driver did the cleaning. Good luck finding a professional cleaner that charges less than $225 for cleaning seats smeared with vomit or feces.
Next, drivers would fake vomit or feces and file a report, causing their prior passengers to be charged a cleaning fee.
Ultimately, the ride share services tightened up their methods for both charging and refunding these fees to the detriment of both drivers and riders because they’re soulless, capitalist pig fuckers that only care about profit.

If you’re not familiar with this work, I highly recommend Mulholland Drive, whose two lead actresses are pictured with Lynch in the meme. Twin Peaks is a good option but it’s a show and therefore quite long. Then watch Eraserhead if you want to get weird.

What’s interesting is the Nazi regime first heavily used Gothic scripts, particularly Fraktur, claiming these scripts were an element of Aryan heritage, but later banned Fraktur in 1941, claiming it was ‘Judenlettern’ (Jew letters). This was of course utter shite and is now understood to primarily be a pretense to switch to more easily read, modern fonts.
I hate it because I think Gothic scripts look neat, but they’re still heavily associated with the Nazis.
