Always remember, folks…this kind of income inequality is a choice.

We keep choosing to let it happen. I don’t understand people and the billionaire worship.

Haven’t we already established that the middle class has joined the working class? There’s only two now.
Arcanepotato@crazypeople.online 1 month ago
The use of the term “middle class” as “not poor” is relatively recent, and likely as a result of the efforts to divide the working class.
The working class is anyone who relies on wages for their survival. Middle class has meant several things, including the new and powerful class that led the French Revolution (middle between the aristocracy and peasants). In Marxism it refers to small business owners who are still beholden to large business owners, professionals (like, professions: doctor, lawyer, engineer) or middle managers. They either profit from the wage earners or earn a salary to oversee them.
Some people do not agree with the inclusion of middle management or professionals because they still depend on their wages (salary) to survive.
The idea that a unionized auto worked would be called middle class is silly, according to these older definitions.

Petite-bourgeoisie was a word before middle class

In the UK we use middle class to mean something much closer to its Marxist definition. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, managers, and small business owners would generally be considered middle class (basically if you can afford to shop at M&S or Waitrose). The term middle class in the UK also can encompass people who should be included in the term upper/ruling class, such as CEOs, but due to our weird historic class system in the UK I think there is a higher threshold for being considered upper class here.

There is this very small number of these tech bros and CEOs who at least try to appear “normal” and “relatable” with various levels of success. This guy though is literally begging for somebody to meet him in a dark alley with a baseball bat.
P00ptart@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Which tech bros attempt to appear normal? Lol
somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Well, there are a whole lot of quiet ones. Normal? No.

What he fails to mention, however, is that the product of the company of which he is CEO is by no means intended to protect a country’s citizens, but rather to prevent them from defending themselves against unscrupulous, anti-social monsters like him.

What’s ironic is that he’s making a sales pitch for society outlawing his job. He’s telling us that he’s not worthy of being a member of our society as clearly as he can, but he doesn’t even realize it.
Because look if AI is going to make everyone’s life go to hell then all we need to do is change our governments and change the laws and get rid of those evil pieces of s*** who destroyed our society. In the end it really is that simple. Which doesn’t make it easy.
But actually it’s all a bubble so it’s not going to happen anyway.

He’s “sounding the alarm,” but not offering to do anything about it. Just sounds like someone who is having the earliest revelation that he doesn’t want to become dinner.

And he’ll do anything to fix the situation, except stop getting richer. That’s non negotiable.
