- Comment on Boeing engineers, technical workers reject contract offer 1 day ago:
Well, less of an article and more of a press release -
SEATTLE — Members of the union representing Boeing engineers and technicians voted Friday to reject a contract offer that would have increased salaries by 29.4% over four years.
Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) members also voted to authorize a strike if an agreement isn’t reached by Oct. 6, when the current contract expires.
Lots of information missing on this one. Rejecting a raise like that means there were other factors involved that likely deserve greater reporting.

First off, they’re not his agents unless he’s got his own LLM running on his own server; and you can’t just show up at a new job with a server all like, yeah, plug this into your network and grant me permissions, it’ll be fine.
Secondly, you can automate workflows without LLMs. Crontab, for instance. Trillions of people have been automating workflows for tens of thousands of years. Agentic automation is more expensive and less reliable than cron.
If someone is showing up at my office and telling me they’re going to use Claude to rename a .PDF I’m going to laugh and then ask them to leave.
You want the future? Don’t be the guy selling shovels during a gold rush. Be the shovel-maker, and then hoard your shovels to inflate demand. Fill your house with shovels. Use shovels instead of plates and cutlery and clothing. Make sure everyone knows that you’re The Shovel King (or Queen) and don’t tell anyone you’re unemployed, no matter how many job interviews you fuck up by talking about shovels.

All good! But for what it’s worth, Facebook is useless for people who don’t use / like it, and useful for those who do; but regardless of the utility of their products, they have an abhorrent human rights record, a delusional executive team, and fascist goals. Also, Zuckerberg doesn’t have enough money because he’ll never have enough money, putting him in the parasite class.
“Careless People” by Sarah Wynn Williams should be required reading for anyone interested in interacting with Meta’s products. I wouldn’t ever ban arguments or users in favour of Facebook’s utility; but I’d counter that even its regular users suffer harms by its use, even if they do keep coming back like gamblers to a slot machine, desperate for a dopamine fix.

Just as an FYI, your post has been reported. I’m going to leave it up since the active harm you wish upon soulless corporate ghouls is not a call to violence, but more of a desire for karmic justice. Cheers,

Just as an FYI, this comment has been reported as “weird fuckery that never happened”, which I, as Mod, agree with. However, I’m not going to remove it because the downvotes speak louder than your rhetoric, and I’m not one of “those” mods, whoever they may be. You don’t have to believe me and I’m not asking you to.
I’m sorry if you have been treated unfairly by someone else, somewhere else on Lemmy. Subs live or die by their userbase, which includes you, and includes me. As someone who was blocked unfairly by power tripping Mods on Reddit, I promise to not repeat that cycle of abuse. My promise may be meaningless to you, which is entirely fair, but my actions will hopefully prove over time that I’m not one of “those” Mods. Starting with leaving this post up, even as it personally targets and insults me. Cheers,

I’d argue that downvotes display community consensus; and clearly they aren’t being received with delight or agreement in this thread, or the larger sub.
I’d further argue that if this is propaganda, it’s quite poorly crafted, and the community seems to have noticed. A more efficient form of propaganda would include far fewer obvious fallacies, for instance.
I agree that their statements are highly problematic and I’ve specifically engaged with them on those issues. Their answers, if forthcoming, will be illustrative of their ability to honestly interact with others within this community, and I’ll respond appropriately. I’m sorry if this isn’t as aggressive an approach as you’d prefer; but this approach is not binding and will be tempered by further data.

I’ll leave it for now, as the downvotes speak pretty loudly and they’re not being aggressively hostile, more just denunciatory and projecting stereotypes.

issues of antisemitism within your movement.
I don’t have a movement. I am not involved in any movement. I am not a “leftist”. I am a human being and I promise you that I do not fit most of the descriptions that you are placing upon me in terms of both my attitudes and my beliefs.
People outside of leftist circles see the antisemitic comments by people in your group.
I don’t know know who is making what comments where that I should be condemning. I’m barely on social media at all and I do not ordinarily participate on internet discussion boards. I have no groups. I’m generally disinclined towards grouping as a concept, sorry.
I understand your overall social critique and the recognize the truth and value of many of your assertions, however your presentation may be interpreted. Unfortunately I am not the one you should be venting these critiques upon to, and I am not answerable to social trends, cultural dynamics, historical happenstance, and religious tensions and intercessions that predate my ancestors’ ancentors.
Lemmy lives or dies by its userbase. You are also part of our shared userbase. I am the mod of one small community, only, and I am doing my best. If you have specific concerns with specific actions I take, I will address them.
I came to Lemmy mostly to shitpost, as an alternative to Reddit. I think this place can be wonderful if we let it. But let’s stay on topic.
If you see a post that you don’t think relates to Work Reform, downvote it. Try and post similar content yourself. Encourage discussion about unions, inequality, and how corporations are strangling the world.
Be the kind of person you want to meet on Lemmy.
But for you, @SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca - please stop accusing me of things I don’t believe as parts of movements I don’t subscribe to. I’m not your enemy, I’m just some guy at the cornerstone buying a white claw because I’m cutting back on carbs

As an FYI, this comment has been reported. As Mod, I’m going to let it stay up with this comment as the downvotes speak louder to me than your rhetoric, but I feel like your approach to debate is troublesome.
Personally I’d note,
Actual radical left is devoted to hating Jews in general Israel specifically.
Please try to avoid such sweeping generalizations when debating with people online. “Devoted to hating Jews” is such a wild comment to me. If you actually believe that, I think that you need to talk with more people on the “radical left”, or, you need to understand that the radical left is much bigger than those who inspired that comment.
