people online assume that you live in america, people always that you are talking about america. whenever there are news or discussions and the language that is used is english, everything is about america. Seriously, euros don’t “do” anything anymore. Everything they say is a childish projection, usually paired with some insecure ethnocentric bullshit and anti-black racism (“monos”). They are all like Jeremy Clarkson, fancying themselves wise and cultured when they are just as American now as everyone else because they lost the war where they killed thousands per day in 1,000+ camps less than a hundred years ago (may 1945). Fascism is notoriously difficult to define. There’s a huge amount of contention on it among historians, but one definition I like is Rodger Griffin’s. In his definition the core ideology of fascism is
(i) the rebirth myth (ii) populist ultra-nationalism (iii) the myth of decadence
I think the MAGA movement pretty transparently meets all 3. The rebirth myth is literally in its name, the movement is pretty openly populist and ultra-nationalist, and decadence is how they describe their enemies (e.g. their rhetoric around trans and queer folk).
The same definition as Wikipedia or the dictionary have

I live in America and can confirm it sucks. Insane grocery prices, every state has its own landmines of laws that others don’t, housing crisis, the huge gap from rich to everyone else, how there can be million dollar houses two miles away from slums and those slums somehow are mostly African Americans and other races and you find this in states like Connecticut that consider themselves libera or democraticsl but in reality they just as bad as the people they claim to be against. Don’t worry Westport,fairfield,greenwich CT people a, black lives matter sign outside your mansion will totally fix it. Healthcare costs, led paint boomers and gen x sociopaths that complain about not having enough but they own everything. Guns galore, school shootings, teachers getting shit pay, religion being built into laws and public schools. I can go all day!

I backpacked around the world. I’d be in an incredibly beautiful, remote place, and the Europeans there would rather complain about America than go for a swim or a hike or discuss the country we were in. It seemed to be their favorite pastime even on vacation

I wish we had filters we could setup, because I would love more than anything to block all news stories related to Twitter and/or Elon Musk. I just want to be oblivious to him and act completely surprised when I find out he died on Sept 21, 2024 at 9:21am for undisclosed reasons. Just a keyword filter would be nice.
I noticed that almost all content from any non-meme community (and even several meme ones) mostly come from 1 or 2 users. Block those users, and that kind of content vanished.
