The thing is, if they did have a funny sex number, it probably would’ve been 19
hansl@lemmy.world 1 year ago
- That’s not “IV”, Obelix, that’s four.

I think you mean L̅X̅X̅X̅LXXXV
refurbishedrefurbisher@lemmy.sdf.org 1 year ago
Just put the year first :P
RagnarokOnline@reddthat.com 1 year ago
This is true.
If it’s in a list with other films with years first, you wouldn’t be about to visually scan by letter, though. Two “Saw” films could be separated by hundreds of others in between.
salton@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I think this would work.
FRANCHISE (YEARRELEASED) TITLE
BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I would do year first but these would all be in sub folder for the franchise

MMIX

They are ordered correctly, alphabetically.

Saw VII: The Final Chapter…
…
Saw VIII
Saw IX
Saw X
entropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.org 1 year ago
There is no Saw 9. Like Windows 10, Saw X comes right after 8
EatATaco@lemm.ee 1 year ago
It’s in alphabetical order and IX is definitely there. Unless I’m missing some other jok.
sdoorex@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
It’s because Saw VII ate IX.

It’s all good man.

Fun fact: In France, Saw VI and Saw VII skipped the numbers because Saw 6 is pronounced like saucisse (sausage) and Saw 7 is pronounced like someone having a lisp saying chaussette (sock)
kSPvhmTOlwvMd7Y7E@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I thought maybe translating “saw” is better, but nah, “La scicisse” et “la sciecette” is pretty cursed too
whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
well, I would have actually watch it!

Saw VI in French takes a whole new meaning…
Haus@kbin.social 1 year ago
Saw XI takes a whole new meaning in China.
stepanzak@iusearchlinux.fyi 1 year ago
What does it mean?
Dyf_Tfh@lemmy.sdf.org 1 year ago
“Saw six” is pronounced like “saucisse” which mean sausage.
Primarily0617@kbin.social 1 year ago
"six" in english translates to "six" in french
i don't know what to do with this information
sanguinepar@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Whereas Saw X in English just sounds warm and comfortable.
Maalus@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Yeah it was wild hearing about it on Saw Con lol

I would regularily joke with my friend about going to eat some saw V sequels

Or to anyone whose name is Violet but goes by Vi for short.

Reminder that VIIII is a valid way to write 9 in Roman numerals.
Astronautical@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
What about VIV?
FleetingTit@feddit.de 1 year ago
There is historical precedent that the Romans used XIIX for 18, I guess VIV should be fine for 9.

Weird plex, but okay.
naticus@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Even better, you can do it by editing the “sort title” so even in the library they show up in the order you prefer. So in this case I’d change them to be “Saw 01” through “Saw 10” and I won’t have to mess with a different view for those circumstances. I do need to go back through and edit a handful more of my movies because I’ve slacked off lately.
SmoothLiquidation@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I always liked to use year instead of number. That way it sorts the same and if there end up being more than 9 I don’t have to go back and rename it to 09.
Now I use Jellyfin with the auto collection plugin. It does a great job of grouping everything correctly.
CmdrShepard@lemmy.one 1 year ago
You can also just change the sort title in the options.
Rooty@lemmy.world 1 year ago
A cool, creative film that used its low budget creatively has been turned into a crappy franchise on par with Haloween and Friday13th. Shame.

JewGoblin@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Has anyone watched the latest Saw?
I just downloaded, is worth the watch?
jivemasta@reddthat.com 1 year ago
I wonder if you could make a context aware sorting system for files. Like if there are a handful of files all similarly named, it could check for sequential numbers and roman numerals and spelled out numbers and just sort them that way.

You know what they say, “I before V, except after C”. (Or something like that.)
Resol@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I still remember when Windows File Explorer orders 10 before 2 (I still didn’t verify if it still does that and I don’t feel like it)

There have also been eight subsequent Friday 13th-related movies since its “Final Chapter” :-)
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 year ago
And Freddy came back after Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare.
lechatron@lemmy.today 1 year ago
I just watched all the “Final Destination” movies and the 4th one is called “The Final Destination”. Then the went on to make a 5th, and a 6th is in production.

The next one should always be “the search for more money”.
