I remember the trailer for “Cuffs” made it look like a buddy cop comedy that will be full of hilarious jokes. Went to see the movie and the jokes in the trailer were all the jokes in the movie. The rest was dark and depressing and I felt cheated after that.

No sir, I don’t like it.

I haven’t read the study, but most of these would need a placebo group, so divide the herd into thirds, one with no paint, one with stripes, and one fully painted white to get a baseline for each group. Also would be good to randomize which group each cow goes in each day so to rule out one cow who is especially tasty to flies.

You can even use this argument to avoid mowing the lawn.

The first thing we need to do to fix healthcare in this country is to decouple health insurance from our jobs. If you lose your job you should not lose your health benefits. And no, cobra is not a substitute.

Hotness aside, I actually prefer the taste of pretty much any pepper over jalapeños.

I would add scooping dog shit is another test. There are people out there who will bag the shit and then leave the bag on the ground for the poop to steam in for a few days before they put another bag right next to it to keep it company.

These are part of their own family of invertebrates.

Insects are a specific family that have 6 legs. So a bee or an ant are insects but a spider or a rolls polly is not.

That is a problem and I don’t have a solution for. It is tricky balancing free press and letting the rich just say whatever the fuck they want, but none of this is a new problem and I do believe that we can find a way to figure it out.

Trusting your sources has always been a problem. Newspapers have always been able to lie and it is up to the consumer to know the difference between the tabloid and the rest.
I don’t think there is that much of a difference between lying in print and lying in video.

Alpha Centauri was awesome, but so were a lot of the other games. Colonization was a lot of fun. Call to Power is the civ game I want a real sequel to. Going way into the future tech was a lot of fun, and being able to build cities at the bottom of the ocean.
Of course, I think the whole franchise has gone downhill since Civ IV, so take my opinion as you will.

This was very common in old-school Hollywood. It’s why we have the term Movie Stars. People would go out of their way to watch an Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cary Grant, whoever movie, when the people who were really good character actors slipped in the background just making movies better.

You are being downvoted but HFCS and honey are almost exactly chemically identical. They have to inspect honey farms to make sure it comes from bees since looking at the final product you can’t tell the difference.
- Comment on That gourmet luxury blend... 7 months ago:
I’m American, and honey blend implies to me that it is a mix of different types of honey. Like clover honey and whatnot. Kinda like a Red blend wine is a mix of different wines, not 50% merlot/50% rubbing alcohol or something.

Honestly, the problem is that “AI” is a dumb term that is way over used in these situations. Outside of Science Fiction, AI has generally been used to describe what “the next big thing” computers can do.
Using a term like “Large Language Model” to refer to ChatGPT explains what it actually does. Or Deep-Learning Text to image models for the image generation.
I remember playing around with TTS on a Apple ][ plus as a kid, there is nothing new about that, but using statistical models to have them imitate a voice is new, but just lumping them all in with Artificial Intelligence, is just dumb.
- Comment on Video game actors speak out after union announces AI voice deal 9 months ago:
Yeah, but matching TTS to a character’s voice is where you would need it.
- Comment on Video game actors speak out after union announces AI voice deal 9 months ago:
This is one sector where I am actually happy for AI to be available. I want to play a game where the NPC’s can say my character name.
That being said, I also want the voice actors to be compensated fairly. Maybe the guilds can set up a deal where using someone’s voice for training data is included.

I learned that hummingbirds are native to North America and they don’t have them in Europe. That made me sad for all of them over there.

I always liked to use year instead of number. That way it sorts the same and if there end up being more than 9 I don’t have to go back and rename it to 09.
Now I use Jellyfin with the auto collection plugin. It does a great job of grouping everything correctly.
- Comment on Is It Still Worth Going to the Movies? 1 year ago:
Why do they still sell candy in plastic wrappers in movie theaters??? Nothing like trying to watch something and the idiot family behind you just goes rustle rustle the whole time.
- Comment on Is It Still Worth Going to the Movies? 1 year ago:
That is only true for the top of the line theaters. The mid to low range are not worth it.
I went to see Avatar 2 in a DTS certified theater in my town and was severely disappointed. Even the opening DTS advertisement where they try to brag that “this is black” looks way better on my home system and overall I wished I just waited for the 4K to come out and watched it at home.
