- Comment on New Star Trek Action Figure Line Coming From Nacelle 1 month ago:
the fact that this is the worst-merchandised franchise in the world is incredibly annoying
I can’t agree with this more. It’s insane the disparity between ST merch and Star Wars merch. It’s like Trek stuff is always the “Wish version” of what the people behind Star Wars are putting out. Lego is a good example, they’ve put out hundreds of Star Wars sets over decades while Star Trek is relegated to the shitty knockoff Lego-clone companies who think they can charge as much as Lego for what they offer.
- Comment on How come LED Light Bulbs only last for about 2-3 Years? 1 month ago:
I just buy a cheap jumbo pack from Amazon. They’re like 15 bucks and last for years which is good enough for me.
- Comment on How come LED Light Bulbs only last for about 2-3 Years? 1 month ago:
Generally because you’re buying cheaper ones that aren’t built as well. Heat destroys LEDs and the cheap bulbs generally use fewer individual LEDs running at higher power to produce a given output in lumens. More expensive bulbs use more LEDs at lower power to achieve the same light output so that they’re not constantly being overdriven and last much longer.
- Comment on Sony announces the PS5 Pro with a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI upscaling 2 months ago:
I dunno I haven’t really been excited for any of the games released over the last couple years. It seems like nothing but legacy games like COD/Battlefield/Destiny and a few gems like Elden Ring. Most of these big studios seem to be laying off employees or shutting down instead of releasing new games. Part of this is just me being burnt out on gaming, but with so many studios struggling, it seems like it’s more than just me feeling like this.
- Comment on Sony announces the PS5 Pro with a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI upscaling 2 months ago:
One major improvement with the PS5 is the instant loading times. I don’t think this thing will be any faster in that regard but it’s a major improvement over the PS4. The other improvement over my original PS4 is that it doesn’t sound like a jet engine after 20 minutes of running.
Ray tracing is cool but what console games are even using it at this point? It’s like them advertising “8K capable” as if anyone gives a shit about that during a time that 4k is just barely becoming the standard for most.

Pretty sure this stuff already exists in some form. /r/datahoarder people would probably be able to steer you in the right direction though you may need to lay out several thousand for enough HDDs to hold it.

- Comment on Why do all the new TVs expect me to have a platform AS WIDE as the fucking thing?? Fucking shit!! God awful absolutely dumb thoughtless design choice 11 months ago:
How is it annoying? I try to wall mount every TV because then I can move it around or angle it easily and it looks 100x better than hanging halfway off a bedside table.
- Comment on Why do all the new TVs expect me to have a platform AS WIDE as the fucking thing?? Fucking shit!! God awful absolutely dumb thoughtless design choice 11 months ago:
This is like a $150 TV. They aren’t going to make a $50 solid steel base and internal frame for that over some cheap injection molded legs.

- Comment on YouTuber Jirard (a.k.a. The Completionist) has been accused of keeping and hoarding charity donations 1 year ago:
I don’t know who this guy is or anything about the situation other than what’s written here, but if he’s naming specific charities supposedly receiving these donations, it makes zero sense that they’d be “looking for a good charity to donate to.” If that were the case there’d be zero reason to name the ones they did.

Aramark.
- Comment on Who makes those terrible sheet cake things that every Chinese buffet has? 1 year ago:
You’re almost certainly correct that it’s just cheap cake. Is Betty Crocker cake really a traditional Chinese dessert? Furthermore, most buffets like this are Americanized ethnic food not traditional dishes.

Not to mention 38 states have legalized it for medical use. What is there to study with regard to removing the legal penalties federally?

- Comment on Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users 1 year ago:
Reading through these comments, I can’t help but think there’s astroturfing happening here when every single comment seems to be saying the same thing nearly verbatim:
“This is a huge overreaction!”
“Most channels have excellent merch products!”
“I like seeing merch ads on videos I watch!”
It’s one thing to have links in the description or creators mentioning their merch in the video. It’s a whole other thing to have a banner in the client advertising products that take up nearly the same amount of screen space as the video itself. All these naysayers seemed to have been able to easily navigate to these shops and purchase merchandise before youtube started pushing it in our faces, so why is it necessary now, especially on accounts that are paying for premium? Should we also just accept additional ads outside the video from corporate sponsors since they also fund the channel directly? Where do you draw the line?
- Comment on Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users 1 year ago:
Youtube is the one displaying these new ads though.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
I think it’s the screen, actually, and I don’t see much they can do about those.

- Comment on What do overnight shift workers do when the clocks change? 1 year ago:
At my work the people on shift either leave an hour early (when clocks go forward shift ends at 7am and leave at 7am for example) or they leave early (shift ends at 7am but you leave at 6am after being there a full 12 hours) depending on which way the time goes.

Dude Taco Bell is one of the worst offenders. I don’t eat there anymore but I know they’re charging up the ass for rice, beans, and what can only be described as meat product that barely meets the legal definition of “beef.”

- Comment on Does the USPS, FedEx and UPS give a crap about weed shipments since Hemp sprayed with th same terpenes and looks the same as weed has been shipped legally for 9 years now? 1 year ago:
They can also alert law enforcement in the shipper/receivers area to bust you when sending or collecting the package. I recall a few years ago someone sent a weed shipment and used the address of the mayor of some city in Maryland as the recipient and the police raided his house and shot his dogs.
