Well, the work year has ended and even though I resigned from my position over 6 months ago, I’m just floating around the company, doing whatever’s needed (sometimes that’s just being the office cheerleader).
Who knows what next year will bring. For now, nearly 2 weeks off to chill!! Hopefully a city adventure, maybe a winery, good food and probably a shitton of computer games.
Christmas cheese has been purchased, wine is at the ready!

Just about done for the day, just gotta make the bed and then I’m crashed
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Same. Shattered but it’s so nice sitting here sipping a wine and knowing I made it to Christmas. Gonna risk sitting a bit longer. Being…happy…is a good feeling
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
🙂
same, I really don’t have much to do tomorrow, main thing is to remember to buy a bottle of my fave wine so I can get sloshed on xmas day …lol

I survived my trip to Melbourne. It’s the first time in a while that I haven’t travelled back in the dark, it felt slightly odd being able to see everything.
MeanElevator@aussie.zone 2 months ago
2.5 hours of work left.
So far no one has dared me.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Ham and salad sandwich for lunch was absolutely delicious. I’m probably still in the honeymoon phase with salads and the love will wear off as summer drags on, but after a toastie-filled winter a salad sandwich is wonderful.

Been up since 4:30am with the dreaded “can’t stop thinking”.
Sigh.

What’s the worst chrissy present you could personally ever receive?
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 months ago
My parents gave me personalised numberplates one time. This was up in NSW where you have to pay a fee to have personalised plates, so they essentially got me an extra $100 on top of my rego every year.
And I drove a silver car so they got me gold number plates. I know no one would have actually cared but I felt like everyone was looking at my car when I drove out of the RTA with the new plates on because they clashed so much
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Do not give silver people gold things! And ask first if white gold counts.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 months ago
It needed some fluffy dice to go with.
calhoon2005@aussie.zone 2 months ago
My aunt gave me a pillowcase…I was a 12 year old boy. Bad enough that I remember it clearly 35 years later.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Actually: My school book kit for the next year A hot pink satin thong (brother, not his idea) A large print Fairy Tale book at 15 A 30yo very used hair dryer A kitchen appliance bought in the previous year sale so it had zero warranty

Kewpie is overrated
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 months ago
The spicy kewpie isn’t spicy.
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Very few things that claim to be spicy actually are
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 2 months ago
What’s your preferred Mayo?
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Sorry didn’t see your comment. Thomy is my go to. It’s much lighter tasting than Kewpie.

Ugh. Fatigue is unusually bad. The options for the inspection were tomorrow (right after the vet) or next week so next week it is, it means I can go more slowly tidying up.
I’m really missing my old hobbies of baking and meal prep.
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Fuck me, it is christmas week, yes?
Fucking four hours into my leave yesterday and my boss was already blowing up my fucking phone. He’s still going! Jesus christ mate, get a fucking hobby

Used a carpet scraper to clean the dog fur put of the carpet. Would highly recommend for anyone with floofy friends and carpet. I would not put carpet in a house.
Whilst I was doing the carpet cleaning, I found a chainsaw under my dad’s bed in addition to a bat. I know there have been quite a few home invasions lately, but idk if this is a bit of an overreaction. But anyway, hit and slice those gangsters mate!
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Bat 🦇 or bat 🏏?
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Both
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 months ago
lol a chainsaw is a bit concerning.
Though I’m sure if he started it up they’d leave heh.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Whoops it’s just a saw
My words are muddled today
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Had a bit of an embarrassing miscommunication yesterday. I saw I had a missed call, I thought they tried to call me twice, so I called them back. The guy said he was trying to return a call I made.
Then I remembered I tried to call the place I get coffee beans from but forgot about it because it went straight to voicemail. I couldn’t call him back after that, so I picked up beans near where we were at the time and they’re pretty good

There’s now 4 states of matter? When did plasma happen? Why didn’t anyone tell me?
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 months ago
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Hehehe this made me laugh lots.
Pilk@aussie.zone 2 months ago
You better sit down for this.
There are way more than four states of matter (many exotic but not all).
Even weirder, the distinction between liquid and gas disappears under easily achievable conditions. Rather than being absolutely separate states, they exist on a continuum. We actually exploit this in the process of manufacturing decaffeinated coffee.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Wow. This needs to be on YouTube. Maybe it is and I just slept through it.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 months ago
i learnt that in high school
you can see plasma in flames
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Oh. Maybe I did too and forgot about it.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 2 months ago
You can buy plasma cutters for home use if you need to cut steel on a regular basis
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Back to books?
Found Mistress of Spices on TV. I did own this. It had a sightly unusual binding format. Can’t find the bloody thing. Did I discard it? Potential brain problem

A weird win today with one of my laptops. It was running out off space because a busted Windows partition was taking up so much room. It also stopped doing system updates to Linux, which I thought was because Secureboot was on and blocking it. I took the SSD out, reformatted it, even unplugged the battery to the motherboard clock, and turned it all back on. Secureboot was still on and locked by the BIOS, but Fedora has reinstalled anyway.
Now I just need to check if it slows down on Google websites like before. If Google sites work smoothly it will feel like a new laptop all over again
Catfish@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Optometrist says bugger off and come back next year. Only pretending to work until then, but still annoying.
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 months ago
Optometrist says “bugger off”. Computer says “no”.

I suspect them of trying to double charge my insurance. Plenty of appointments free online, but not the ‘right type’

Traffic was great this morning, travel to Melbourne took 2 hours instead of the usual 2 and a half. I normally drink my coffee while stuck in traffic and I just kept moving today and had to finish it when I got to the office instead.

Last day of work.
Hanging on by a thread. If anyone at work tests me today, Christmas will not be Merry (or any other hobbit)

red’s a festive colour, just saying. As are entrails about a tree.
