My grandma went down to the beach with her sibling and saw a koala. Thought you bunch might appreciate the cuteness. Image

I just realised I’ve spent the whole day with my name tag on upside down.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I decided to do a “fuck it I’m going to get whatever I want” supermarket run.
Now, this is probably a weeks worth of food with a few treats, nothing extravagant. And all the cat stuff for about half a week.
Two hundred and ten fucking dollars! I’m one person!!! Plus a bakers dozen or cats.
Man. Never going to woollies or Coles again. Fucking aldi convert right here.
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I’m getting my stray cat food from Savemore, ie cheaper by miles.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I have no idea what that is but thanks for the tip. I’ll look into it.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Yikes! Just did $120 for two. Doesn’t include cat fud though, that’s prescription stuff.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I eat the same thing most days as well (because I only cook properly if there’s someone else around)
Oats Fruit Tuna Frozen veggies Some variety of meat
That’s pretty much it.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
if you have a car no reason to go to colesworth
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
The generic wet food from Woolies and Coles is pretty solid and nutritionally complete at less than $2 a can. (Used to be 80c.) The Woolies passes AAFCO regulations.
However the fish flavour is full of bones which means a high phosphorus content which is hard on their kidneys. Melbcat’s kidney disease values improved after I switched her to a low phosphorus food

YarraByte joined me on Chapel St where we met sister’s work friend and his friend. They made lots of references I didn’t get because they’re old. YarraByte just nodded along. Anyway. Took a Siemens train for the first time and the handles are interesting. Passed two level crossings. Kind of weird they’re still there in such an area with busy traffic.
Someone’s work function bought too many drinks and we got a free one which was cool. That’s my night.

Anthony Albanese just got married. It’s never even occured to me to wonder what his relationship status was. But some part of me feels like the Prime Minister getting married should be some sort of State event, like when royalty gets married and everyone watches on tv and has a big parade 🤣
Pilk@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Scomo would’ve televised it.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
It probably would have been in a big church too, as opposed to at home with a celebrant. Although ‘at home’ when you are living in The Lodge hits a bit different.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I hope they are happy.
Happy politicians can’t be a bad thing.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I have been listening to Project Hail Mary.
I like how a story where the main character defines himself as a sighted being starts with the main character waking up and his only sense is hearing.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I should go read that when I have focus

People who live in apartments, do you hear your neighbours or do they hear you? I’m considering moving into one some day, but if I can hear the neighbours’ every move and they can hear mine, it’s a no from me. Staying over in one and I can hear doors slamming, noises I’d rather not hear.
Force_majeure112@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I’ve lived in many apartments and it’s quite variable. I agree with Seagoon it depends on construction. Currently I don’t hear a damn thing even if in the hallway can hear my neighbours loud music. I’ve also lived in an apartment where I could hear my upstairs neighbours footsteps, my across-the-hall neighbours’ wailing (he was quite unwell), and it had double height, full wall glass as the outside wall, and I could hear the voices of people on the street. That apartment almost drove me insane and I had to break the lease and leave early and significant cost.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Townhouses count? One side I can hear on the stairs (must be a mech warrior to stomp like that!) other side occasional arguments and some plumbing noises. The lonely dog in the next block is more annoying.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
+1 mechwarrior reference
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Hate apartments but I’m bias because I can’t have my studio in an apartment.
Plus I grew up in public housing ghetto apartment block.
Yeah it’s probably more the 2nd one now that I think about it.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
it really depends on the construction
StudChud@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I live in an apartment. I think I lucked out, I can’t hear my neighbours in their apartments; just in the building hallway. I can hear Sydney Road more clearly than I can hear my neighbours lol
I am on the top floor though, but I’ve never ever received any complaint about being loud.
I’m used to apartment living though, I got used to running into my neighbours and the general noise level of Brunswick. I feel safer than if I was in a house, less likely to be robbed.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Not in my current apartment but it’s a bit unusual in construction. Previously yes. It’s never really bothered me, if it’s a nice enough place I find it kinda nice to hear people around.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
good night everyone, sweet dreams 😘

The second coat of primer has just been done on the mower. Two top coats to go on over the next two days, then it should be right to put the new blade on and do a grass trim in the next lot of dry days. I figure even if the rust has not been completely removed/neutralised there should be enough paint to hold it together.
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Stomach a bit crook today but did a rubbish round of the apartment, a load of dishes and got some groceries. Early dinner. I wanted to tackle the clean laundry pile but I think I might crawl into bed. 6:30 is a legit bedtime isn’t it?
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago

You reckon I can rock up to Vodafone in the cbd and take home a modem and plug and play my Internet today? Or would they make me get it delivered

Not much got done today. I did laundry and lots of folding last night but today I had someone over and then kept napping.
I found a guide on how to fix my backpack strap but don’t have any nylon fabric. Black denim would probably do but I don’t have anything I’m willing to cut up.
I watched some free movies on YouTube. I should do some art practice but don’t know what to do.
StudChud@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I have yet to do laundry. So you’re far far ahead of me. I’m proud of you! And melbcat loves you so all is well :3

fresh hell of being married to me: When His Lordship tries to sneak in on the wee hours after being out later than he intended, precisely seven seconds after the front door opens (enough for him to get in and put his keys down) the speaker system will start playing Hail to the chief at him.
on kazoos.
Taleya@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
aww yiss. Got my hands on a symfonisk and am coding alter sounds into home assistant. Already have the standard cat food alarm (meow meow beenz upvote from Community, they are extremely familiar with this one and make watching that ep extremely chaotic) but what for the “tea is ready” button?
Perhaps Mrs. Doyle from father ted nagging people for tea. Plus then I also get to steal content from a piece of shit terf

I’m off to the gym this morning.

I love Mickey. I can kiss his belly all I want, I can manhandle him as long as it’s in service of belly kisses.
But as soon as I use my hands to stroke his belly, all hell breaks loose.
His chaos amuses me.
