It’s incredible how little that train slowed down (if it did at all).

Think of the mass of a freight train carrying over a miles worth of material behind it. Then a truck
danc4498@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I don’t even know how that gets started. Let alone stops.

These things take miles to slow down, usually tens of carriages loaded with metal, liquid, and whatever else.

FREIGHT TRAIN
caesaravgvstvs@feddit.org 3 weeks ago
Well that looked like a three locomotive formation, unless one of those is something else.
Who knows how eternally long that train is

Dipshit driver just standing there almost got wiped out by his truck being whipped around like a piece of tin foil. If you’re in that situation, you run
GladiusB@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
No one was hurt. The truck could have been disabled somehow mechanically.
shalafi@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
OP means the truck driver was standing right there watching this go down. Yeah, he should have run, not because the truck whipping around was predictable, because nothing is predictable in such an impact.

Like bottomed out on the track. Those car carriers have a pretty low deck.

Did anyone else’s parents tell them when they were growing up that it you put a coin on the tracks you could derail the train?
Yeah… About that…
pleasejustdie@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I used to flatten coins that way all the time as a kid. Did it on dates, worked really well. First time I heard that was on a date and I laughed a bit too hard I guess, didn’t work that time.

I was at a railway museum once when some boy scouts were there for a visit.
The museum staff were very careful to tell them to never flatten coins on a railroad track (it could derail the train!)
Yeah, and doing nothing could too (i.e. lack of maintenance).

My dad took me to the tracks to flatten dimes. He was an engineer, never taught me bullshit.

No parking!

Council is getting really aggressive with this new campaign.
NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I can’t imagine what that sounds like and feels like for the engineer

Like a sneeze

Poor guy at the car yard having to call his customers and explain what happened.

How do you get videos to play in the post, OP?

I think I know the same amount of information after reading the article as I did before. That “article” could have been a headline.
I feel disrespected by that article. Harrumph.
