I appreciate that, and if a fake email works then I’ll happily give them that. But that’s it.
If I need to sign up with a real address, click a verification link, unsubscribe (possibly a few times) and remember what I gave them the next time they put up a login: No.
And if I’m not being “provided” with the story until I submit to a EULA or whatever, it is NOT being “freely provided”.
Hell, we’ll give you this lovely home in a wonderful city for free! Terms and conditions may apply.

The flaws remained unknown publicly until their disclosure, because ETSI refused for decades to let anyone examine the proprietary algorithms.

TL;DW: meta finds young girls who delete their selfies and sells them to advertisers for cosmetics.
Back in the day, software not only functioned without the internet, it “wanted to help”. Clippy, who was universally hated, at least didn’t sell you out to advertisers. Didn’t sell your data. Didn’t demand access to all your private data. Didn’t train on your work to eventually replace you. Just wanted to help.
I mean, if you weren’t there you maybe can’t even imagine it.

Go out and do things.
Anything, really, just don’t stay in. Try to do something fun and interesting. You’ll find paths through doing that you can’t get by applying for things.
