Wow that does sound like a borderline purposeful booby trap of a design. Stay safe!
Legitimately sounds scary especially if you’re fucked up - drunk me would be terrified lol

If you constantly are pondering how your stairs have yet to kill you, perhaps it’s time to do something different with the stairs? Like I know way easier said than done but even something like changing the railing or what they’re covered in might be useful.
Wouldn’t want your last moments to be you wondering why you didn’t listen to yourself.

I wouldn’t call myself a vibe coder (or a coder at all I’m pretty rusty and wasn’t killer to start) but I’ve used some Gemini and copilot to help with some VBA scripting. You just gotta walk it in and keep on iterating and telling it what was messed up and give it the error.
It usually will get close or even right eventually but also I ended up just bring up some official documentation to sort some things out because the LLM believed its own bullshit so hard I couldn’t get it to stop hallucinating syntax even when I told it over and over it was wrong.
Which is hard to tell at first glance when it looks right but it is just slightly off or maybe it’s trying to use a non existent “built in” function. I definitely learned some valuable lessons about AI in those small exercises though.
I would say that like anything else it’s a tool, and honestly LLM for writing some boilerplate code or getting something down that’s close (or even pseudo code) is useful. Would never ever trust it on its own and it may not even speed up your workflow but it can be helpful if you’re unsure what to do or how to approach something.
What you can never do is trust the output from the start. You can never just hand your brain off to the machine because it doesn’t actually know anything. I do wonder if the “efficiency” gain is even actually happening or if that’s mostly just a collective delusion fueled by the corpo overlords. At any rate anyone doing actual vibe coding isn’t going to get shit done because the code simply won’t work or will break in fun unexpected and unknown ways.

For sure this AI bubble is extra fucky wucky. Like, I wish I had the capital (I’m a proletariat sooo I don’t) to burn on shorting some of these companies. Not that I really know how to do it properly and it’s volatile and unless you wanna end up owing lots of money you can’t cover you have to start with a lot since you’re making very hard to foresee bets and some will not pan out.
Like, at some point this bubble will explode, nothing is really propping it up. There’s not enough actual demand, the artificial demand there is won’t stay forever and even the small amount of real demand isn’t going to be there when companies start paying the actual cost for these services instead of it being subsidized. Almost all the money being poured into this “AI” (ie: the fancied up LLMs who’s capabilities the tech bros keep on lying about) is going in a circle - it’s actually madness.
It’s absolutely a house of cards, but betting on a collective realization that’s going to implode a big part of our economy is hard because people desperately want to believe the illusion. Sooner or later reality will come knocking and the harsh truth will come to be.
I do think it’s going to make 2008 look like a joke but I guess we’re going to have to crash the stock market like it’s 1929 before our government decides to (once again) reign in Wall Street and this bullshit. It’s like we all lost our collective minds or something, as if there wasn’t a reason for the glass-steagull act to exist. Hell look at what’s happening with our food supply as we’ve been getting the FDA and USDA and EPA inspectors and relaxing regulations and constantly looking the other way when these big agri businesses literally shit up our food.

You don’t remember, at some point we decided to go from “nothing in the internet is real” as the starting point to “everything on the Internet is real” as the starting point.
Now if you see something and it feels right that means it must be because you started off from it being real. /S <- I shouldn’t need this
- Comment on "Don't unionize, just get a better job." When you unionize, you ARE getting a better job. 1 week ago:
Damn everyone I’ve ever met that’s been in a union has said it’s way better than non union work.
Like to the point where they try their damndest to get another union gig if they need to get a new job. Although most of the folks I know in unions usually stay with the company for a long time or until they retire.
Of course they can be bad but anecdotally I’ve had way more people praise unions than say they’d rather not be in one. At least from the folks that have been in a unionized job.

That sucks. I feel like a lot of stuff is easier and just better without even dealing with a PM - good ones can be worth their weight in gold though if you’re dealing with multiple folks on a project and they do their job right.
Unfortunately, that’s very rare.

If I schedule a meeting and someone doesn’t accept that invite I just assume they’re not showing up and act accordingly. Might send them a ping a few minutes before hand but if they’re a stakeholder and needed for the meeting and choose to ignore the invite(s)/email … That meeting gonna get cancelled or rescheduled.
Not that that very often happens but I’d just start bothering said guy about it with pings or email follow ups until they get the picture. Or just cancel the meeting(s) if no response 24 hours before scheduled. Something like that.
Not even to be petty or annoying just because they should be accepting or declining for the simple fact that everyone else has schedules to keep too. Obviously this advice may be bad or not applicable but yeah that sucks.

As someone working for a consulting firm … Yeah … Checks out.
I mean I’m not seeing that money but also it’s wild to me what companies are willing to spend money on toss into a fire.
Really goes to show how this shit is all made up.
- Comment on Microsoft Teams status 5 weeks ago:
Hmm, I just open notepad and use a stack of coins or something similar to hold down a key to stay active if I need to.
It’s stupid we even have to care about our status on teams. Why should anyone give a fuck about your teams status as long as you’re getting to your work done properly and on time?
Although to be fair right now I’m using a client laptop so my employer basically sees me as offline all the time but I’m reachable by teams or email on my phone.
Anyways it’s just dumb. Fun trick though, I didn’t know you could do that.

Dunno, it does look like work is being done on the elevator assuming the photo is real. Like the floor is bare and there’s padding material up all around.
Depending on how the boards those buttons connect to are wired this might have just been the best way to do it with less wiring but idk how that stuff actually works and I’m far from an electrical engineer.

I feel like maybe I need to read more about the whole “stop killing games” thing. It’s awesome and fine if they expect at some point the game will be able to be played through a free multiplayer tool that enables someone to host and pay for private games.
It’s quite another if they think companies should have to shell money out of pocket indefinitely to run infrastructure for multiplayer games after x years of release and/or once player base passes a certain threshold number.
I’m admitting my ignorance here but I do think it’s fair to at least question both sides some
- Comment on Do you think that Trump is being blackmailed? 1 month ago:
You would probably have to go back 100 years to find someone that is the head of state in a country that is a major player on the world stage to find someone that is as unfit for the job as Trump.
I don’t want to be that guy but I guarantee there’s some pretty unfit people who have recently left the UK and we got Putin in Russia right now.
I don’t think you have to go back in time at all.

I feel like there are cybernetic dick enhancements in cyberpunk but they’re not widespread or used a lot. Like they usually are peddled by sketchy folks and don’t seem to be something advertised that much.
I mean, good chance I’m wrong on that but that was kind of the vibe I got playing the game.
Dong slider is a hilarious thought. I don’t know enough about coding and game development but it feels like it might be hard to get the animations right if you had a slider vs selection because you’d have to be figuring out animations for those titties or cock on the fly.
But maybe that’s just me showing my lack of knowledge, perhaps a slider from tiny titties to big ol tatas is already a thing in some games. I guess it’s also dependent on the game engine.

Yeah anyone that thinks making more money means they’ll end up with less money because of taxes is just wrong. It’s crazy how so many people are that naive that they want to actively handicap themselves.
Having said that, you know what does work like that, our welfare system. It is possible to hit a point where you work too much and get xyz benefits taken away and the monetary value of those is larger than what your raise was. In particular, childcare/food stamp benefits are a hard one to lose and childcare can be a lot of money. So, that’s a valid complaint but if you are not receiving government aid any raise you get at work is a benefit to you.
- Comment on $37 for a burrito 2 months ago:
Yeah I guess it also is culture. It’s mostly that sit down restaurants (and then fast food) got into an “arms race” over “value” which in this case value = bigger portion sizes for the same or less money than other places.
I just say capitalism as more shorthand for this kind of thing where there is some weird market forces at work, and half of that is just marketing and perceived “bang for buck” and trying to one up the other guy. Like I’m not even sure people actually want these giant portions shoveled into their obese gaping maws but it seems to be where we’ve arrived.

Well, nonetheless, I unironically am looking forward to a woman being the main character. It’ll be a nice change of pace - I wonder if they’re going to keep the multi character stuff from GTA V or switch back to a solo protagonist.
