Yeah I guess it also is culture. It’s mostly that sit down restaurants (and then fast food) got into an “arms race” over “value” which in this case value = bigger portion sizes for the same or less money than other places.
I just say capitalism as more shorthand for this kind of thing where there is some weird market forces at work, and half of that is just marketing and perceived “bang for buck” and trying to one up the other guy. Like I’m not even sure people actually want these giant portions shoveled into their obese gaping maws but it seems to be where we’ve arrived.

Capitalism is fucked Is the short answer

Lol I wonder what you wrote that garnered those initial reactions. Something whining about the game being too woke or what?
Well, nonetheless, I unironically am looking forward to a woman being the main character. It’ll be a nice change of pace - I wonder if they’re going to keep the multi character stuff from GTA V or switch back to a solo protagonist.

Well it’s shitposting so I’d start with the presumption if it sounds fake there’s a really good chance it is.

Capitalism is the cause of those problems. Last I checked the people hoarding money in off shore accounts weren’t exactly keeping money circulation speed constant. Well, perhaps constantly zero in that case.

Why do we even need owners in the first place? We don’t need to be beholden to the borgeousie and have a class that owns the means of production and gets rich off the labor of others while all they have to do is spend their money and not do any work.
Like employee owned businesses can be a thing.
It’s not like we’d have to upend our whole society, just change how employees are compensated, give them some equity in the company they work for and bring up individual incomes. Also tax the ever loving fuck out of profits (or revenue it’s arguable which is better) after a certain threshold so the only way to get more money is to reinvest and grow the business. Same with individual wealth taxes.
Nobody needs to be a billionaire. Companies don’t need to constantly push their profit up quarter after quarter. We don’t need to be beholden to the shareholders just because they have a bunch of money and own stock, we should be the shareholders ourselves.

Idk what the hell happened to baby boomers. When I was growing up my parents (boomers) constantly reminded me you can’t believe everything you read online and that the “girl” I was chatting with on AIM could actually be some fat 40 year old pedo.
That wasn’t uncommon, that was the same experience all my buddies had and same thing was drilled into us at school.
Now, I’m seeing these folks treat memes on Facebook like it’s the gospel truth. Or some random mommy blog post with zero references as straight facts. It’s so maddening … What happened to these people?

I mean some of them can fetch a pretty penny. I’d find a good local card shop if you’re interested in getting rid of them.
Or you can send them to me and I’ll take em off your hands… But seriously it might be worth it for you to take them into a shop just to see if you have anything of value.

I didn’t even know of the existence of those! Thanks for the new knowledge, I guess they never really took off much?

Kind of cool that as storage media on tape shrunk in physical size and grew in data storage the term cassette started to change use in shorthand parlance.
It’s a generic term but yeah to everyone nowadays a cassette would be one of these: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassette_tape
That wiki article has more examples in it of older ones too and competitors if you feel like a little random reading.

In the USA military I think all combat pilots carry a knife afaik. At least the ones flying attack planes going on missions where they might get shot down.

It’s about $3.69 to $3.99 right now around Cincinnati, OH. Gas in California is probably (if not actually) the highest priced gas in the country.
But yeah the cost of everything going up since Trump took office has sucked. This war in Iran feels totally pointless, we’ve managed to hurt ourselves and kill a bunch of innocent people and all for what? Like honestly it’s beyond idiotic, it’s cruel and literally weakens our position on the world stage.
There is zero incentive for Iran to allow free transit through the strait of Hormuz, now or in the foreseeable future. Even when this all ends it’s not going to go back to like it was before.
Sorry went on a tangent there but yeah gas prices being this high because our president and current administration are fucking morons is so dumb.
- Comment on Is cryptocurrency good for anything? 2 months ago:
To be fair there’s a lot of crypto currency that has/still is a scam. Also I’d argue that BTC, and crypto in general, still is being treated as a security that’s backed by thin air. Ie: it’s a speculative asset that doesn’t actually have any value.
There’s nothing really stopping BTC from crashing hard. It’s so wild to me how people treat it.
I could have bought bitcoin too when it was worth pennies but there was no way to know which crypto the whales were going to bet on for the pump and dump. It’s a missed opportunity but rest assured there’s plenty of universes where Bitcoin amounted to nothing.

I genuinely tried to find it with my Google Fu but I’ve been foiled. Admittedly I spent 5 min or less looking because I don’t actually care but it seemed wild enough it might have been fun to figure the game out.

But they did get fruit loop pieces with marshmallow used to “glue” them to the dispenser, so that’s pretty cute. I mean it’s a lot cuter to imagine than a bunch of horned up rats.

It’s a bunch of jokes for our viewing pleasure? At least I think that’s what’s with them.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
I mean that’s literally the joke. Haha you thought you were going to see one thing but you saw another.
It’s just another version of 2girls1cup or tubgirl or goaste … Ok maybe us millennials are fucked because all those examples are heinous AF compared to a little rick roll - but I mean, same concept.
Just subversion of expectation, many a joke is built on a version of that - I’d say it’s ultimately what a lot of humor derives from.
Maybe it’s not funny, it might not even be a joke and more of just a meme but if you are searching for an explanation there is one for you.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
I really need to upload like 10 versions to YouTube with different thumbnails just so the “stupid” “joke” can live on.
I won’t because I’m a lazy POS that doesn’t actually care but … Yeah.
Also I know it’s a joke but I also feel like it’s a good PSA in a way that you should check what you’re clicking on, at least make sure the domain is legit (in this case it is since it’s youtube.com but idk just my random thought about the legendary >!ricki tikki tavi rolly polly!< )

I thought the exact same thing! I expected at one point, with all the excellent choreography happening, that the bushes were for sure going to get involved in the dancing.
I don’t speak Spanish so I didn’t understand what bad bunny was singing but that show was still awesome to watch. The people hating on it must be such losers in real life.
