HELLO MELBOURNE I HAVE LANDED
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Welcome home!
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Welcome back. 😘😸
bacon@aussie.zone 4 days ago
How much ransom for Landed?
Taleya@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I’ll give you a cup of tea and four beans i found up my nose
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Well I landed another 2 interviews this week. So that definitely gives me a boost.
Thank you universe I needed this today.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I ate more of the ingredients while cooking than the finished product. It was a stirfry.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 days ago
From Sunday to Thursday there is hard concrete drilling just around the corner from my house.
For 4 weeks.
Laaaaaaaaaaame.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Like Seagoon said, earplugs for sleep, and maybe some white noise to drown it out too. Loop earplugs are great for sleeping, they are made of soft silicone.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
ear plugs

I’ll be honest the job search is getting a bit grating.
Will keep smashing through but it’s definitely taking some kind of toll.
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Yea it’s rough out there.
Gonna be applying again soon myself and seeing how many you’ve applied for is both inspirational and daunting at the same time. gawd lol.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I think my industry is tight at the moment so I’ve been looking at different sectors.
I hope it goes well for you man. I take the volume method and apply for anything I’m qualified for whereas others tailor each resume to each role.
Strengths to each but yeah market is a bit slanted towards employers at the moment.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
agencies?
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 days ago
It’s mainly recruiters in my sector. I’m having a sook and I’ll keep pushing hard but it definitely gets a bit repetitive.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 days ago
People seem to think every job seeker is employed full time, in no rush to leave their current role, but also has the time to sit through three rounds of interviews. No one wants to acknowledge employment is an economic necessity and some people need a job as soon as possible
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Well said man. Even when I have looked for a role whilst having an existing role, the 3 stage bullshit is a huge pain in the ass.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Getting kids ready and myself and get to the bus stop and find my coffee thermos leaked everywhere 👿 I honestly don’t know how, when I went to open it, the lid was so tightly on 🤦🏼♀️
calhoon2005@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Got a mouse! Yes!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Back to work after being sick over the daylight savings weekend is a painful combination. I think i need another day off
Eagle@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Add the start of term 4 to those shenanigans and I’m nearly crying in my coffee.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 days ago
We’re not there yet but i noticed the return to school on the drive in today. Can’t wait until I’m feeling up to being on the bike again
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I fixed up the first print, took it apart, cleaned it all, polished up the frame , looks ok
I found out it’s from about 1865 and is an engraving of the new lighthouse on Gabo Island, newly built in 1862
it was framed in Hobart so long ago the business didn’t even have phone numbers.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Dramatic picture. Really puts you in the moment.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Nice work, looks fantastic

Where is the morning?
Where is the sun? Oh
A thousand years of midnight
The sunrise is gone
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 4 days ago
It’s a public holiday in QLD, NSW, SA, and ACT today. Work is very quiet which is muchly appreciated on this particularly early morning
tone212_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I am up too late (daylight savings lag) but just relaxing in bed hearing the rain is so nice.
princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 days ago
It’s quite pleasant tonight.

The test used to assign IQ is heavily biased in many different ways. That’s first off.
Secondly, I think we can agree there are several types of intelligence, quite a few of which are not going to give the test taker a positive score.
If we measure the potential of a person by such a flawed metric, we do ourselves a disservice.
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Very true. I do believe in multiple intelligences.
I was just being stupid
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Be a bit careful of Jordan Peterson, sometimes they start with grains of commonsense and gradually take you down a rabbit hole! It’s very easy to unknowingly go down an alt right pipeline from innocent starting points like self improvement.
I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself. Even if you did everything perfectly sleeping problems can just happen from stress. Even things like staying up can be from a need for more quiet time to decompress, or finish other obligations. And if you struggle with routine or procrastination that can happen with overwhelm.
I’ve noticed your family can be really hard on you and in turn you’re hard on yourself. But I want you to know that your twenties are turbulent, choosing and starting a career is hard. And sometimes everything goes wrong at once. To struggle with it doesn’t mean you’re not doing well.
It might be worth discussing the PMDD with a doctor if that hasn’t already happened, and if there isn’t any management in place. Or to even review it if there’s something that isn’t working. Because that alone is going to make life so much harder. It is incredibly difficult.
I can’t really advise on the career choice but I’m really hoping you find a less stressful niche or something that suits you better!
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I don’t think it’s my family, I think it’s mostly me. Thank you for your kind message 💕
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Peterson said there have been 5000 fake youtube sites taken down so far, they fake his voice, use AI pictures and just say any old rubbish, he is greatly concerned
StudChud@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Please don’t listen to Peterson - he’s a mentally unwell fucktard
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Yeah he’s a bit of a wanker. He looks so stupid when he debates people about religipn
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
It’s daylight savings change week, don’t sweat it
and no, Peterson is not right, it’s not the whole story, personality and character counts for a whole lot
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
shopping was not fruitful on the stationery front, I will have to go to daiso and type
but I did find a pair of framed antique prints that look pretty cool, I will have to clean them up a bit, looks like they’ve spent the past 50 years at least in a garage
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 days ago
To coffee, or not to coffee That is the question
Whether it is wiser on the night shift To take in caffeine against the drooping eyelids
Or to struggle on unmedicated until at home in bed finally sleeping
bacon@aussie.zone 4 days ago
☕️
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Perfection, thankyou.
I will know whether or not it was a mistake after I get home and find out if I’m too caffeinated to sleep…

seasonal allergies are bad, even Bill has sore eyes and itchy skin

Mr Woof is really into his toys at the moment. In addition to his favourite moose we have a reindeer and hippo hanging out with us. It’s very cute, he mostly just seems to like hanging out with them and he will move them in to whichever room he or I are in.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 days ago
My dog has adopted an orange duck after his pink bunny went AWOL. It’s possibly in YL’s room where recovery is slim to none.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Mr Woof seems very good at keeping track of his toys. He’s now moved them all to the loungeroom to hang out with us, then he’ll move them back to the bedroom overnight.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I took another gentle walk just before, watching out for danger.
There was a honeyeater lying belly up on the footpath! Specifically a yellow wattlebird. Probably hit by a car.
I thought it was dead but as I approached it started moving, and just as I was thinking to call Wildlife Victoria and wondering if there was time to grab a box from home it struggled up and flew away to a power line.
Speculating about injuries
Nothing looked wrong with its wings so hopefully it was just stunned. There was a small pool of bodily fluid where its head had been which worries me about head injuries or internal injuries, but I have no way of catching it for treatment.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
off to do some shopping for stationery, the best kind of shopping 😸
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Just got an email from a colleague saying ‘where is this specific thing?’, which I had sent very clear and detailed information about a couple of weeks ago.
Had a slight panic that I hadn’t sent the original information out, but turns out I did and they just hadn’t bothered reading it properly.
Am passive-aggressively ignoring their email for the time being, in the hope they’ll find the info for themselves.
Monday morning after daylight savings change grumpiness for the win

today’s vintage Melodya LP is Sokolov playing Mozart clarinet concerto
an oldie we have all heard many times from many different orchestras but this is like the angels singing
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Trying to keep on the decluttering.
There are some nests I crocheted ages ago (used sanctuaries to hold birds or other small wildlife) but I made them too floppy to support the animal. I should redo them when possible.
I also need to get back on Mt Washmore.
StudChud@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Partner and I watched Final Destination: Bloodlines on the flight back last night. I love the FD films, and this was his first time watching it.
I loved it! I thought it was fun, funny, and perfectly gory. He said after the films “I want to watch all the others!”
Now I’m fucking HYPED to watch them again and see his reactions to them lol
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
more rain please, it has been quite dry here

good night everyone, sweet dreams 😘

oh lord this home automation thing is a slippery slippery slope
But for those interested:
1- use home assistant. None of this cloud bullshit. 2 - Ikea stuff is Zigbee and you can seamlessly marry it with the above without even looking at their app. Also it is cheaper than any other zigbee stuff by miles.
If you want the easy route:
Tapo. It literally has a “local only” mode so you can deny it any and all internets and it will still work - as long as you’re within your local home network.

Good Mickey!
I was going to say hide your shoes as he might get a little grumpy and leave a present in them but it looks like you’re in the clear (for now he may be plotting).
tone212_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Aww Mickey! Did he forgive you for being away?
StudChud@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Oh yeah, he’s been all over us all day. My shadow, everytime he sees us he starts kneading and wanting to be picked up/be on us/near us.
He doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge at all, just extremely happy to be home and back with his full-time ape-slaves 😂
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 days ago
What is that look?
What did his carers say, was he fine?
StudChud@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I woke him up from his sleep 😂 he’s been extremely happy all day
They said he adjusted really well! He was shy at first, but then really warmed up to the owner and attendants. They described him as a big sweetie
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Welcome home handsome boy!
