Aww. What big eyes you have, Gibson

Oh poor Gibson.

That’s a great shot! Does your camera have good zoom or did you manage to get up that close?
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
This was just a phone cam. thing wasn’t worried about me which was odd.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Going to feel weird being at home by myself. Going to the gym and trying to stay outside the house as much as possible.

Saw dolphins at the beach. My goal for the outing was to enjoy myself but also see something moving, and it surpassed all expectation. Below is a shitty pic of a fin! The dolphins kept jumping up and splashing around. It looked like they were fighting with each other. At one point, a dolphin jumped out of the water. Was very cool. I wish my eyes were cameras sometimes.
I was inspired by Seagoon to find out what the things I saw were, and there were lots of sea snails. I liked how the rocks (?) in the rock pools looked like brains 🧠

It’s an awesome picture. It must have been very exciting to spot a dolphin. I bet it looked huge to naked eye, microscopic in a photo. I try to zoom everything but I don’t have a good camera, it has limitations.
And omg, did you get a pic of a live Pheasant Shell? They are so pretty, I’ve never seen one live.
It’s definitely a beautiful world out there. 😊

I think Mickey is going to fare better in the cattery than I will being around 3 children under 5 for 3 weeks.
At least the woman who runs the cattery is a massive Cat Woman; she isn’t great with people but amazing with cats.
I am not amazing with children, it’s very difficult to censor myself or not say something inappropriate (it’s a My Family Surname issue 🤦♀️). I guess I will just do my best to take an interest in what they want to talk about, though I’m sure they will be rather preoccupied with each other rather than the adults.
So maybe I can sneak off for my diaries, joints, and beer without too much fuss 😂
Also, stupid question I could Google but I’m very lazy: I have a number of Sally Hansen insta dry nail polish, can I take that on the plane? Either carry on or the other thing where they store big bags (words espace me, I’m hungover, sorry)
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
yes, you can take nail polish but not nail polish remover
SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I have Christmas with my friends family and just give the kids $20 each for my swearing when I get there now.
StudChud@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I’m not that rich for that to be sustainable mate 😂
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Excuse me if you’ve already mentioned this somewhere, but where are you off to?
If you’re flying domestic, you should be able to bring most things except weapons?
StudChud@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Just to Perth lol 😂
Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Last week I started getting off the tram earlier and earlier on the way home and walking the rest of the way. Today I decided to just walk the whole way, took an hour on the dot. It’s about half an hour using trams. It felt good! Can see myself doing this almost every day I think (weather permitting). My GP will be happy if it lowers my blood pressure.
anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
When I worked in the cbd and lived closer I used to do that all the time. It also took about an hour, and was a great way to unwind after work
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I think about this with riding the bike. It’s 10 minutes slower than driving. I could see that as 20 minutes of exercise a day instead of wasted time getting to and from work
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
this is true, walking and other mild exercise does lower blood pressure
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
My absurd candle order arrived.! The house smells amazing and I’ve not even lit anything 😸
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I had that with a candle I bought for my girlfriend. You didn’t even have to light it, you could just open the lid and smell it since it was so strong.
Also, I remember reading a guide on how to burn a candle years ago. It sounds like a silly concept but it was advice on how to stop the wick tunneling into the wax so it was actually quite useful
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
These are just 100% beeswax, no added scents. Ideal burn time is a thing, you’ll waste them lighting for too short a period.
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Ooohh!! What did you get? I LOVE candles. Is the brand still going? Anything you recommend?
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
It’s Queen B. They are currently closing down. I recommend everything! I got 16,5 kilos… oops
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Well. So here’s the thing.
Gibson doesn’t like to wear things. And after several rounds of Mortal Kombat (and antibiotics for me and a tetnus shot tomorrow) we had to go back to the vet for the cone of shame.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
There are padded puffy alternatives to the cone. You might be able to overnight order one.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I’ll suss a pet shop nearby
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Kmart has inflatable donuts but sometimes cats might still be able to reach with those.
Eagle@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Oh dear. Poor Gibson has had a day. If you’re home and observing she might manage without the cone. In the past I’ve connected the cone to a separate collar to make it easier to get on and off too.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
The vet will call me tomorrow and we can see if I can take it off. I’m going to be out a lot of the week for interviews but I have to admit she accepted it a lot better than the suit.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I never used a cone with cats, just observed them and the cats never did anything.
StudChud@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Ha ha, Erin got a non-parole period that’s as long as I am old 😂 couldn’t have happened to a better person tbh
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Today at the beach I saw a Polycheate, a bristle worm. I did not touch it, luckily, as many of these marine animals are venomous.
it’s the purple and red worm looking thing with a hundred legs. It moved quite fast when my shadow crossed it.
I also saw a sea urchin in a rock pool, it was moving it’s spines.
and a cloudy day over the bay, I dressed warmly and the breeze was quite nice
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
we’re getting a good education on beach and sea life here on this board 🤓
I have to look everything up to see what they are before I post here, I can’t just say, "here is a thing with a lot of legs "
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I forgot to add, that bristle worm was 20 cm long!
SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I have bought myself my first mango of the season. Bit worried it’s too early for them to be good yet, but the aroma got me when I walked past them, couldn’t help myself.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
oh yum 😊
Pilk@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
A good mango may be the closest thing we have to evidence that god is real
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I’m having a bit of an overdramatic moment because shit sleep. Today has been a bit of a shit day. I don’t think this job is right for me. I enjoyed teaching one class but the other went tumultuously. I think I might focus on younger year levels if I continue but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to put this mental health shit aside and not have a breakdown.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
You enjoyed one class. Focus on that. 😺You are allowed to choose to do the things you enjoy.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Mate the drama of getting Gibson into her carrier. Ended up having to use the jumbo size one :(
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
No breakfast and the not fun box. Indignity!
StudChud@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
After passing out at 7pm, here I am at 2.30am lol. Least I might be able to catch some of the lunar eclipse
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
So tired… Melbcat’s med times desyncing isn’t going to be easy to handle. But whatever. I’m just going to have to follow the alarms and cat nap between doses.
I’ve ordered some supplements that may help her bladder as antibiotics may worsen antibiotic resistance :( And some more oral syringes.
Tomorrow/today I book the home visit for her blood pressure and try to finish tidying up for that. Hopefully the vets bring the medication if it’s ready.
Despite it all she’s a trooper. Still jumping up and down from her chair by herself, eating her meals, and wanting to look outside.

Did 84 damage in one round with my barbarian at DnD tonight.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Just spending the evening doing some sewing and mending.
It annoys me no end good jumpers are being eaten by moths. I use eucalyptus wash, I hang up moth repellant, I store carefully, I hunt down moths. I still get damaged jumpers. Maybe I should buy acrylic instead.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
spose i better clean up the front porch again, I spent over an hour repotting and cleaning it yesterday only for the wind last night to smash some plants and turn over pots.
Catfish@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
What would you make fake sandwich meat out of for a trick cake? Fondant is verboten, chocolate would be doubling up.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
earlyish beach 😺
SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
Woken up by loud birds. Why sing at 5:30am, why?
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 weeks ago
I’m so tired and already letting the side down.
Melbcat refused to eat her medicated breakfast even with a topping, I kept urging her but didn’t remove it and make her take it directly like usual… fell asleep. (I also missed the chance to take an incredibly cute picture of her pillowing her head on my knee.) Then I was late with the 4pm dose.
Changing the frequency of one med and adding another has pushed it from a simple twice daily routine to different meds all over the place, individual and different combinations. I’ve condensed it as much as I can but times and frequencies being out of sync make it really hard to chunk.
I also have an ultrasound tomorrow, vet home visit Wednesday, and urgent dentist appointment Friday.
I still haven’t finished cleaning or showered for tomorrow.

Downloaded Tik Tok yesterday to see what all the fuss is about, and to find stuff to send to friends. It’s great for recipe inspiration, but the other stuff is problematic. The trending searches for one, tend to be click-baity. People putting people down. Echoes of people feeling miserable, and living vicariously through others by scrolling. I just felt a bit icky being on there, and remembered how mind numb I felt by being on there, like I was trying to escape something.
Deleting the app and Instagram were the best things I’ve done. I also turned off watch history on YouTube so it stops recommending me videos. Now I will go and enjoy a movie. Movies are way more satisfying.
