Meh, uBlock Origin element hide or a Stylus filter fixes that.
Github keeps shoving copilot everywhere.

We can? I’ve been blocking it with uBlock Origin.

When the copilot bar is larger than the search bar and it’s at the center of the screen, you know where their priorities are
mriswith@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
They spent millions developing it, and now they have to justify that money. So they’re going to keep pushing it until some idiotic manager gets green numbers in their spreadsheet. Regardless of what people who use their service say.
I hate modern MBAs.

For shits and giggles I tried using copilot on windows 11 on my brand new x1 carbon laptop.
Seeing those fucking loading bars they use for Microsoft 365 admin centers pulse for like 10 seconds was enough to make my blood boil.
It’s bad enough they shove it everywhere, but do they have to make it also so fucking shitty?
Then I Alt tabbed to Chatgpt and all was well.

I’m dubious ChatGPT was any better considering it backs Copilot. I’ve found ChatGPT to be pretty much garbage versus Anthropic’s Claude. Curious about your experience though.

I was surprised and disappointed to learn that Github is owned by Microsoft. Is there an alternative that everyone can use to abandon ship?

I really like Codeberg. It is a Non-Profit and based on Forgejo which is FOSS. Sadly there are not many Projects there.
Irelephant@lemm.ee 18 hours ago
codeberg is pretty good, but there is a real network effect on it.
Looking forward to forgefed.

GitLab

Codeberg is the way now. GitLab is private for-profit, and could go the way of GitHub at any time.

Sourcehunt or codeberg

Everything Microsoft is pushing Copilot everywhere……. even Windows Notepad ffs. If there was ever an app that definitely didn’t need AI it was a basic text editor.
fmstrat@lemmy.nowsci.com 14 minutes ago
I just switched over to VSCodium after the last updates. Terrible.
frosty@pawb.social 2 hours ago
At one point Microsoft had mentioned deprecating Notepad. I guess they decided to save it when they realized they had another vehicle for their GenAI slop.

It is essentially nonfunctional in powerautomate. For whatever reason on god’s green earth they would try that. It can only add nodes by name, something I’m sure the search function could achieve if improved. And it cannot enter information into the nodes, achieving only the easiest part and wasting your time.

Okay, this is my last fucking straw. I’m migrating

I made (and keep updating) a UserStyle to hide copilot junk: gitlab.com/eksb/…/hide-copilot.user.css. PRs welcome.

Nice! I do think ublock filters would work better, but this is still cool.

Every platform and app is puhing the AI hype. Already sick of that shit. Faulty code, configs using features not existing on the specified platform and always agreeing, never challenging or questioning my remarks.

- Can my coffee maker make tea instead?
That is a very good question and good on you for looking for healthier options for hot drinks. In short: yes, your coffee maker can make tea. For that you need to turn it upside down and toggle on the “use herbs” button.
- I don’t see such a button.
Ah, that’s a classic case of coffee makers not showing their buttons on the external side. You’ll need to open up the equipment and press the internal button with a screwdriver. Would you like some help opening it? I can make you a detailed guide about how to turn screws if you like.
- I’ve opened it. There’s no button. There’s no sort of control of anything for different types of drinks.
Ah, that narrows it down quite a bit. What you’ll need to do is buy several pieces of equipment and install a custom built module for turning coffee into tea. I can help you build a list of the most efficient parts to acquire for this. Would you like to start this project now?

That certainly does sound frustrating - it came be quite bothersome when you can’t find the tea button!
