No need to apologize “no stupid questions” remember ? ;)
- Comment on What should I call the cable I need? 4 days ago:
Absolutely; although the color itself isn’t important. You need RJ45/RJ45 and I’d suggest cat5e or better

Forget about your first image/question then … that my friend needs just a regular lan cable. RJ45 at both ends. No telephony involved here

The gray one only seems to have two contacts, so it for phones/modems. The yellow one is more common for networking. For compatibility reasons often used in outlets too. The yellow one is RJ45, the gray one RJ11
So, what you are looking for is an RJ45/RJ11 cable. (cat-3 cable will suffice but higher works too). Alternatively you can use an RJ45/RJ12 (same specs). The difference is RJ12 has 6 wires where RJ11 has only two. Since you have only two in the gray one, both can do the job.

I tried … but does not work with folding screens, it requires rolling screens and those are not very practical

- Comment on How does one join a terror group? Like example ISIS , do people go to a secret website sign up and get provided flags, bomb parts, or whatever? Or is it just a person saying what they did was for ISIS 1 week ago:
Hope you’re not looking for guide lines so roughly, A terror group is not a bookclub. You can’t sign up and be in. They don’t run a fanclub mercandice store either. I guess you kind of roll/grow in to it. But yes, there also wannabes claiming they are part of a group while they are not., for whatever reason.
- Comment on UK government inexplicably tells citizens to delete old emails and pictures to save water during national drought — 'data centres require vast amounts of water to cool their systems' 1 week ago:
Data storage does not consumes energy. Read and write data does. Deleting data initate database queries and other CPU activities. This request will more likely cause a spike in energy. It won’t save any energy in any case.

It never stops to amaze me how many factories still depend on win-xp (yes, win-xp!). It was always too expensive to upgrade the apps and machines. By now many will never happen anymore because now it’s a multi-step upgrade and cost even more. And STILL they expect 2025 type, level and quality support.

Let me fix that for you:
“Deadly heatwaves are the new reality – we need to replant trees in all the streets of every cities and town to survive them”
(it’s the easiest fix for many city issues, but yes…less space for cars)

No, you are not unreasonable it’s just how you prioritize. It’s personal choice. I live in the country and many elderly too. We know not to count on the blue lights to arrive in 10 minutes. 30 is more likely. We don’t wanna give up the perfect place to live just to have them arrive quicker if something happens. We count/rely on each other.

I used the one-step process to opt-out : <delete-account>
No, I don’t have the illusion the data will be gone, just as I don’t think the opt-out really works. Meta just don’t get more data and advertisement revenue out of me.

- Comment on Linux help and actual pros and cons 3 months ago:
Long time ago I left Windows and went to linux. Yes, there is a learning curve, but once past that (digital)life became so much faster/better. I even changed my wife’s pc to linux. She knows nothing about pc’s and only said 'it looks different now" but she has much less issues on linux (elementary OS) then she had with micro$oft.
So, as I read it, you feel like you have some time left to decide. I suggest to take a live-distro, put it on an USB stick and boot from that. Yes, it’s sometimes slow/sluggish but it works and you can get an impression of the distro. Take an other one, try that too, and one more and… Ah well, just play with a couple and see which one you like best.
Once you have chosen (remember, it’s not a life-time decision (!), switching distro’s is relatively easy) install it by making your PC dual boot. That way you can have windows as a sort of back-up in case you need it.
